…it was entirely up to you? If things like money/overpopulation/others opinions were not influencing or restricting your decision?

Probably 4 if money, space etc were no object (& if I had both a cleaner and was able to outsource the laundry and if I'd met DH 10 years earlier). That being said, I haven't hit the teenage years yet, maybe that would change my mind!

Freddosforall · 05/11/2022 21:32

2 if I could have a live in nanny and housekeeper. Otherwise 1.

Tiddlywinkly · 05/11/2022 21:32

If I had a nanny, cook, cleaners, gardener etc and I didn't work, I'd have 4. We have 2 and we're done. No more time, money or headspace available for more.

3 if there was no reality
2 if I had to go through pregnancy and postpartum newborn days but I was minted and could afford loads of help.
I have 1

HumphreysCorner · 05/11/2022 21:34

4 but had 2 miscarriages so only have 3 but so happy x

Notplayingball · 05/11/2022 21:37

Four and have four.

Didn't realise so many would want four on the thread.

fannyfartlet · 05/11/2022 21:40

NetballHoop · 05/11/2022 18:53

  1. But I wound up with 4.

I wouldn't return any, but 2 would have been a lot easier.

Yep, I have 4 and would go 2/3.

SarahAndQuack · 05/11/2022 21:40

I'd love a second baby, partly because I didn't get to do pregnancy the first time around and I would like to, and partly because I just loved the newborn/baby/early toddler stages, and I would love the chance to do it again.

I don't think I would want more than two, though.

lifeinthehills · 05/11/2022 21:40

For health reasons, as many as I have now. If I didn't have to consider anything other than my own ability to care for the children physically, mentally and emotionally, probably 6 minimum.

HumphreysCorner · 05/11/2022 21:41

I was a first mum at 33, then 36 and 39 and a 2nd MC at 43. If I was younger I would have at least 5 x

ladycarlotta · 05/11/2022 21:42

If things like fertility, age, money, career, support etc etc were no object I'd have loved to have 4.
As it stands I'll be super grateful if I manage to have just 2. That's my 'realistic' ideal.

mypoorheart · 05/11/2022 21:42

I'd have had 5. I have one.

lamalovers · 05/11/2022 21:43
  1. I have 2 but can see another round the table. My youngest is only 6 months so maybe it's hormones. DH says no more! I've had some catastrophic health issues following this pregnancy so I know we have to be done. Plus I'm nearly 43; we have been incredibly lucky. But I will always yearn for that third little one.
Highfivemum · 05/11/2022 21:44

always wanted a large family and we have 6. We have most definitely stopped now as for us it’s the prefect number. We are our own little club, never a dull moment and always chaos but nice chaos. Love my little lot.

Arnaquer · 05/11/2022 21:45

I've got 2 but would have loved to have had 4

Minniem2020 · 05/11/2022 21:48

If money etc wasn't an object then I would probably keep going until age meant I had to stop. I'm 38 now so that probably means another 1, maybe 2. I have 3 and know how lucky I am but would love more. We do need to stop at 3 though as in reality money is an object.

CandyflossKid · 05/11/2022 21:51

Got 2 but would have loved to have 3

Essexgirlupnorth · 05/11/2022 21:54

2 years of secondary infertility and recurrent miscarriages mean we only have one

Heartstopper · 05/11/2022 21:55

Got 4 but with a little more time and a lot of help I would have liked 6.

Tisfortired · 05/11/2022 21:56

in an ideal world 3 is my number. I am one of 3 and come from a big family. Currently pregnant with DS2 but took 5 years and 3 losses to get here, and think we will be probably too old for a 3rd when it got to it sadly.

Carlycat · 05/11/2022 21:57

None. Child free by choice. Give me cats any day

PatientlyWaiting21 · 05/11/2022 21:58

If money allowed then two, but it’s not the case, we have one and super grateful too!

cushioncovers · 05/11/2022 22:00

I always wanted 4 but have got 2

Alexandernevermind · 05/11/2022 22:03

What I have now, 2. Its the best of both worlds, they have company in each other, I had a beautiful baby on each knee, but could still be my own person. My mum had 3 of us, but it didn't really ever gel, she liked the idea of lots of babies but couldn't really cope, and there was never room next to her for the 3 of us. Now we are older with our own children there is even less room. I love my little 2 + 2 family, its neat and happy.

lottie198 · 05/11/2022 22:03

I'd love 3... currently have 1 , he's 10 months.
