Is this a ridiculous name?

We have twin girls due in a few weeks time and are stumped on a name for baby B.
Our name for baby A is Quinn and the names of our other kids are Arabella, Felix and Hugo.
For baby B we've been deciding between Audrey, Eloise and Pippa.

However, the point of this question is to ask, do you think Pippilotta or Pippalotta is a ridiculous name? If we use Pippa, we'd like it to be as a nickname, but aren't fans of the traditional Philippa. So, would Pippilotta or Pippalotta work, or alternatively Ophelia or Josephine with Pippa as a nickname?

Please don't hesitate to share your feedback. I don't want to give my child a ridiculous name and fear that pregnancy hormones have clouded my judgement!

There are over 450 posts on this thread, people.

It’s moved on from the OP. The names are decided.

If you can’t be arsed RTFT - but just have to share your pearls of wisdom, can’t you at least read the OP’s updates? Confused

pigglepot · 19/03/2021 07:36

Audrey and Quinn are lovely. I think you could always have had Pippa as a full name too- I've known Pippas before and never asked what their full names were so I'm sure no-one would ask. I know it's been decided now though!

ExponentiallyDepleted · 19/03/2021 08:45

I've come back to apologise, I commented on Quinn but not the name choices for the other baby. FWIW I think Audrey is the nicest of the three suggested.

Since I have an Audrey I think you made a great choice Smile

twinmama2021 · 19/03/2021 11:46

@PerveenMistry

In the US, "quinn" is rather a trailer trash name; what you might call naff.
Interesting. I'm from New York and my husband is from Greenwich, CT, and that is not at all the demographic of the name Quinn. In fact, it's almost entirely the opposite. Quinn wasn't up for debate. We're set on it and won't be changing. Thanks for your feedback though!

I always thought Pippa was short for Phillipa

SixyTixts · 19/03/2021 11:52

@23PissOffAvenueWF

It’s upsetting me that no one else has recognised that *@twinmama2021* is giving the name Quinn to the fourth baby born instead of the fifth. Please reconsider 😬

It’s already been mentioned. The OP wants to call the first twin Quinn, and given it’s her baby....

I think you have misunderstood my post @23PissOffAvenueWF.

By all means call the babies Quinn and Audrey @twinmama2021, but please call the fifth one Quinn, not the fourth! Grin

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 19/03/2021 11:53

Im English and I like Quinn. Theres nothing wrong with it at all. Quinn and Audrey sound like lovely names. Congrats on your beautiful twins OP.

twinmama2021 · 19/03/2021 12:46

@SixyTixts @23PissOffAvenueWF

The twins were originally triplets and the original baby A passed early on. Quinn will technically be our fifth child, despite the fact that she is fourth born.
You came to this thread to comment on the Pippa variations we were considering. Please do not force your opinions on our other children's names upon us. It is unnecessary and quite frankly, rude.
Thanks.

I haven’t commented on any of the Pippa names, did you mean that for someone else? FWIW I think Pippilotta is rather nice. I also haven’t commented on your other children’s names. Confused

I believe you asked me to name our fifth Quinn rather than our fourth, so I've clarified why we won't be doing that.

@Jacketpotato84

I like Pipolotta. There are many nicknames as well as pippa you can use;

Pip
Pippin
Poll
Polly
Lotty
Lota
Chipolotta
Chip
Pipi
Polo
Otty
Plotta
Plotty
Totty
Tot

Good grief.
SixyTixts · 19/03/2021 14:52

Yeah, I haven’t “commented on any Pippa variations you were considering” or shared any opinions about your other children’s names, let alone “forced” them on you. (indeed, am not sure how anything can be forced on anyone on an internet thread but hey ho.) So you have got your posters muddled up. Meanwhile I guess I will have to keep my nods to Latin to myself... Wink

Mylovelyhorsee · 19/03/2021 15:03

@twinmama2021 sorry for the loss of one of your babies.

SleepingStandingUp · 19/03/2021 15:04

Given op has given the sad reason Quinn will be their 5th, maybe it's time to just drop all the "Latin" comments entirely.

I'm weirdly warming up to Audrey. I have all boys and would want Lilith of we had another but I'm def moving into cute rather than old fashioned. I don't know one below 65 bit I reckon based on a few threads it's Def coming back here

Onthetrain75 · 19/03/2021 15:09

I’m just going to put this out here, in case you are not aware! Pippa is a vulgar word/term in several other languages. You may not mind this at all but if it were me I would want to know.
Quinn is too close to Quim in my opinion, which is vulgar slang for a woman’s genitals in English.
I think Pippalotta is not a good name. Sorry.
I wish you all the best with your girls though. Twins rock!!

Sorry, but seeing as this thread is for feedback on the Pippa variations we were considering, if you aren't here to comment on any of those... what are you doing here?

Lilith is beautiful and so unusual yet classy! Love it!

twinmama2021 I just wanted to say good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. I think you have been remarkably good humoured in your replies. Quinn and Audrey are lovely names. Smile

twinmama2021 · 19/03/2021 15:15

@joystir59

Just call her Phillipa
We don't like Philippa/Phillipa, but have chosen Audrey instead anyway. Thanks for the feedback though!

Lolling at Chipolotta as a nickname.

SleepingStandingUp · 19/03/2021 15:29

Lilith is beautiful and so unusual yet classy! Love it! dH thought it was unreasonable as she's the mother of all demons. O thought that was an unreasonable reason to veto it, she's basically the first feminist (cast out for not deferring to Adam).

We had three boys instead 😂

CandyLeBonBon · 19/03/2021 17:01

All I can think of when I hear the name Audrey, is little shop of horrors!!!

Maybe Audra?

All I think of with Audrey is Audrey Hepburn whom I have always loved so I think we're set with Audrey & Quinn. Thank you for the suggestions though!
