DD is wearing her big girls knickers amd is dry but she hasn'y had a wee since we got up at 9. se keeps sitting on the potty but not doing anything.

She has been ther for the last 15 mins watching telly but nothing.

I don't know if this is good or bad!
She doesn't seem uncomfortable as if she is holding it in.
LAst night we have 6 accidents one after the other. I don't think she knows when needds to go.

I have told her she can have a full packet of buttons if she wees or poos on potty and she keeps asking for them and then sitting down.
This is really hard.

Lissie - sounds like you have cracked it.

maisiedaisy · 24/10/2007 13:22

tkband3 I am capricorn too!
I am on verge of givibg up. I haven't been out of the house since Sunday

shhhh · 24/10/2007 14:33

so im not the only one who dare not venture out .!
to understand do they..?!
Well after yesterday I consumed several LARGE glasses of wine and attempted to tell all to dh..but men don't always seem to understand do they..?!

So today I decided to start a fresh.....................

DD has been wearinf her princess knickers since 10am and has had 2 accidents (wee) once which was like niagra... If you could have seen my hall floor.. Thing is I have asked her constantly and the huge wee followed me placing her on the potty only 1 min earlier .Arrgggggggggghhhhhhh

BUT while I was on the phone she demanded "mummy pickie up" which atm seems to imply she needs a poo......so I sat her on the potty, sat with her and she did one . It was huge !!!!!

BTW today I decided that as a reward she would get a sticker as before BUT some money so she can buy herself a special treat...Im also out tonight to get a fifi musical money box for use when she does use the potty...Maybe, just maybe.......

Lissie, hope things are continuing for you...Maisey,yes it is hard. VERY HARD.Keep going though x

DD still not had a wee since 9 this mornig despite sitting on the potty about 20 times. Am getting quite worried.

tkband3 · 24/10/2007 14:51

Well after a ridiculously fraught morning, I sat the girls on their potties in front of the telly while I made their lunch and DT2 did a lovely wee (although she did say she hadn't when I asked her ). DT1 sat there for ages, but didn't do anything - but after the two niagara accidents earlier, I wasn't that surprised .

But then, after lunch, DT1 said 'I need to do a wee wee mummy', pulled her knickers down and sat on the potty. 2 minutes later, she said 'I done wee wee mummy' and sure enough, she had .

So they're having their nap now (in nappies ) and we shall see how we get on this afternoon. But I am feeling encouraged.

maisy - has your DD been yet?

maisiedaisy · 24/10/2007 15:10

No nothing yet have put a pull up on her to see if this helps.
She has just been sobbibg for packet of buttons and I just don't know what to do.
HAve put er in bed with pull up on and told her she can have buttons when she wakes up.
I have had enough now.
I am on verge of tears, worried that she is going to do her self some damage by not going.

maisiedaisy · 24/10/2007 15:16

Oh no, DH has arrived home and saked me how it has gone and I cried.
THAT'S IT
Whre are the nappies?!
I will leave the potty out and leave it up to her. If she asks to go on it she can, otherwise carry on as before.
Must adnit I feel relieved that I have stopped. Will try again at Christmas.
Good luck everybody.
Will keep popping in to see how you all getting on x

shhhh · 24/10/2007 15:22

you need to do what you feel is best maisie...My friend said yesterday that when she tried her dd she wouldn't take to it..she left it a week later and her dd came to her wanting to start training...

Keep your head up. At least you can now have a break from it. .

{{{hugs}}}

lissiethevampireslayer · 24/10/2007 15:46

oh maisie, really really dont blame you. and being stuck in the house makes it that much harder.

starting to get cabin fever here!

well, friend came round, in the excitement (and to stop her dd playing with his trains) we had 2 big accidents and one start on the floor, finish in the potty. but we've had 8 potty wees now. 5 of which he has announced to me. but still no poo!

sounds like everyone else is doing really well, keep up the good work (off to but wine now dh is home)

OP posts:
bagpuss · 24/10/2007 15:59

Maisie it sounds like you've done the right thing for the time being. You can at least come back to it afresh in a few months time .

Well, big news here. DS2 has not only been out for a reasonable shopping trip to have new shoes fitted without an accident, but when we got back in the car, he said he needed a wee and I asked if he wanted to go back in or hold on until we got home. He decided to wait and was accident free all the way. He also used the big toilet when we got back, and about 10 minutes later he came up to me and said that he needed a poo so I lifted him onto the loo again and he did one!

tkband3, keep clinging to your glimmer of hope, it sounds like they might be getting the hang of it .

lissiethevampireslayer · 24/10/2007 16:01

oh my god! thats brilliant, well done bagpuss and bagkitten!

OP posts:
lissiethevampireslayer · 24/10/2007 16:29

2 more wee's he sat on the potty of his own accord. i need more sweets!

OP posts:
tkband3 · 24/10/2007 16:46

WOW bagpuss that's fantastic . You really have cracked it.

lissie - where are you? I could send you some of my haribos - don't think we've even used up the first layer of the box .

Maisie, sounds like you've done the right thing for now...no point pushing it and traumatising them. And it's so hard being stuck in the house - and as lissie and I have found out to our cost, inviting friends round just creates distraction causing puddles .

Well, I am still hopeful. DT1 had a completely dry nappy after her nap, DT2's had about a wee's worth in it. DT1 did a lovely wee on the potty straight away and we then went to the shops (well Tesco express [petrol station so I could leave the girls in the car and just run in quickly on my own - couldn't face trawling round Sainsburys with potential accidents ). We were out about 25 minutes and both were dry when we got back, and DT2 did a good wee in the potty as soon as we got home .

Am definitely planning on keeping on going tomorrow. Only problem is, we have friends coming over. Do I blow them out, and have one more day stuck inside with increasingly bored children (and mummy) or let them come and just try not to get too distracted? Can't decide .

Slubberdegullion · 24/10/2007 17:16

I don't want to talk about my day.

The current situation is one of the below:
a) dd2 is in urinary retention
b) dd2 has a bladder the size of a camels hump, or possibly several normal sized bladders used for back up.
c) dd2 has been pissing all over the house in corners when I have had my back turned and I will be getting a nasty oderous suprise in a few days time.
d) A Guiness Book of Records winning piss is any second about to emerge from a small 2 year old child.

We have had nowt all day. Nowt in potty, nowt on floor

I am pushing fluids like it's 40 degrees outside.

Buttocks press glancingly against the potty and then they're off again.

It's not going according to plan.

Lissie, well done to your ds, what a clever boy. Give him a smartie from me (ours are redundant here).

Slubberdegullion · 24/10/2007 17:17

And a smartie to bagpuss' ds too.

Well done you lot

Slubberdegullion · 24/10/2007 17:39

Norris Mcwerter worth size, pool of wee now on play room rug.

bagpuss · 24/10/2007 17:58

Thanks everyone .

OMG Slubber . I'm sure it will come and when it comes it really will. LOL at d) btw, perhaps you should phone them up .

ds2 has started to ask to go to the loo which is great, I feel a lot more relaxed than I did.

Well done to everyone for sticking with it .

maisiedaisy · 24/10/2007 18:01

Well again. DD woke uo from her nap and had weed in pull up. Asked did she want a nappy on and she said she wanted big girls knickers! Think I am going to take it hour by hour.
Lol at norris Mcweter

Slubberdegullion · 24/10/2007 18:30

good thinking daisy re hour by hour.

aprox 1 min post proper potty sit (nothing doing), dd performed spectacular multi globuled turd, half of which plopped out the sides of big girls pants and scattered artfully about the play room.

dd completely oblivious.

She has until friday to show some promise.........

lissiethevampireslayer · 24/10/2007 18:36

oooh, so everyones had a mixed day! after my proud boasting we've just had a wee on the floor. going out tomorrow (absolutely HAVE to, seeing my shrink) so it looks like the potette is getting an airing

TK, id invite them over but make it clear that you are potty training, and therefore will have piss everywhere

oh slubber, think i'll join you!

maisie, wanting pants is a good sign! maybe take her out tomorrow to blow the cobwebs

OP posts:
lissiethevampireslayer · 24/10/2007 18:38

lol slubber, know i shouldnt laugh, but you've described it so well!

no poo from ds again today. bit worried!

OP posts:
tkband3 · 24/10/2007 19:48

OK so this afternoon we have had a grand total of NO accidents . I've been reminding them to go every 30-45 minutes and each time one, or both, of them has done a wee . So I'm not counting any chickens by any stretch of the imagination, but I am feeling a little more positive than I was 8 hours ago . Still just the one poo in the potty from DT1 on day one; no poos yesterday at all, but they'd both filled their nappies when we went into them this morning.

Will work on that one tomorrow.

Slubber, your posts have made me LOL, particularly the norris mcwerter wee on the rug and the spectacular sounding poo. I'm sure you weren't LOLing at the time though. I have taken the rug out of the playroom for the duration, so we have completely wipe-clean surfaces - wood floor, leather sofa and armchair .

lissie, I think I will follow your advice - it would be nice to see our friends tomorrow and I have warned them to expect a messy house!

maisie, if she wants the pants, that must be a good sign - how did the afternoon go?

Onwards and upwards everyone . I must say, I'm so glad I found you all - it makes it so much easier knowing that there are others going through the same hell fun .

lissiethevampireslayer · 24/10/2007 19:59

lol tk, me too. it sounds like you are doing really really well. ds is in bed now, and we have had poo. slap bang in the middle of the living room floor. ho hum, im sure we'll get there in the end!

quick q, what everyone doing at night? ds is still going into nappies and am thinking that i should leave nights for a while. thoughts?

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 24/10/2007 20:21

Lissie, def. leave night training until later.

Different mechanism going on (ie unconcious bladder control) occurs later than the concsious variety iyswim.

I waited until we had a week of dry nappies in the morning with dd1, then went for it. Thankfully did not have to do anything more than that (ie lifting). dd1 was dry at night a couple of months after being dry during the day. I believe this is unusual and it usually occurs aged 3-4 (later for boys).

I have loads of friends with school age children (reception mainly) who are still not dry at night, so I wouldn't worry about it yet .

bagpuss · 24/10/2007 20:49

I agree with Slubber. Just keep putting a nappy on him until he is consistently dry. With ds1 it was 4.3 and dd was dry at 3.1. DS2 keeps fooling me by having a few dry nights then being so tired that he can't help wetting his nappy, so I'm not counting my chickens yet.

Slubber I missed your later post about the record breaking wee - I hope the gin is helping....
