i give in. i have been delaying potty training for a while now, ds is now taking his nappy off to do a wee, so as this week we are both on half term i am doing it. no going back. hopefully by this time next week he will be wearing the nice new pants he has picked out and telling me when he needs to go, but im scared. and clueless. i need tips and support and telling exactly what to do, and when to do it.

please help me.

well done to lissie's ds . Totally agree with slubber that it's all part of the training process. DD1 (4.3) still has the odd accident every now and then when she's too busy to go until she's desperate and can't get her knickers down quickly enough .

Was feeling quite melancholy this morning. Today should have been my wedding day, but we decided to postpone a few weeks ago, when life was far too stressful to think about organising it! But we had a lovely shopping trip, and stayed out for lunch which was really nice. At the end of lunch, DT2 announced she needed the toilet and when I took her, she did a wee . So perhaps all is not lost. We'll continue putting them on the potty in the mornings and the evenings and taking them with us when we go and see what happens.

I'm cooking curry, and have the rest of my bar of galaxy in the fridge for pudding . OH is having the beer in our house .

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

oh tk, that sounds really promising!
have you set another date?

Not yet...am thinking spring now (Marslady has convinced me it's a good time to do it ). But OH has been having a tough time at a new job, so waiting till that's all sorted before deciding. It would be nice if the girls were potty trained by then so that they were nappy-free under their flower-girl dresses .

lol, we got married on the 24th april 2004 and it was boiling (the hottest day of the year) but we had a country wedding and it was lovely! all green grass, blue skies and flowers in bloom!

Hi,
My ds is 2yrs & 2mths and we have been doing quite well with the potty EXCEPT when we are asking him not to do something like, 'Don't hit the cat or don't throw toys into the fire place' he just stands there and forces a wee on the floor. Now I know we are not scaring him so I'm pretty confident that he's not doing it because he's frightened. When we tell him not to do something, we don't shout and we use a low firm voice and say that if he does it again he will have to sit on the naughty spot. Usually at this point he visibly tries to force a wee even if he's just done one of the potty. It?s tough because I know not to make too much of a fuss when it's an accident but then when he's done it deliberately what do you do?? Any ideas welcome.

lissiethevampireslayer · 29/10/2007 10:35

i would have thought that its the same principle as any other time they do something for a response, i would just wipe it up and not respond to it. hth

FionaMum2JD · 29/10/2007 10:38

really just ignore it then?

lissiethevampireslayer · 29/10/2007 10:39

i would have thought so. he's obviously doing it to get his own way

FionaMum2JD · 29/10/2007 10:45

You're right he does do it to get his own way. I suppose we'll just have to put up with the deliberate messes whilst we get him out of this habit.
Thanks for the advice

My ds is 3.4 and we have been trying to train him on and off for a few months. We started again this week with much more success. He has been weeing on the potty since Monday with no accidents and even poop'd once. He does have an annoying habit of waiting until he has his bedtime nappy on though and then does his business . I can't wait until he is reliable enough to start using the toilet as he drinks so much and wee's more than twenty times a day. I think it is a while off yet, we only moved into trying pants yesterday and haven't managed to wear trousers or go out yet. Must stop getting ahead of myself!
