i give in. i have been delaying potty training for a while now, ds is now taking his nappy off to do a wee, so as this week we are both on half term i am doing it. no going back. hopefully by this time next week he will be wearing the nice new pants he has picked out and telling me when he needs to go, but im scared. and clueless. i need tips and support and telling exactly what to do, and when to do it.

please help me.

oh dear lissie, never leave a man to deal with scenarios that require cleaning as a potential consequence....my DH has that part of his brain completely missing (caught him rubbing a rug yesterday that dd1 had spilt some juice on...with loo paper, and wondered why it disinegrated).

We have a lot of grunting on the potty going on here. I am hopeful of a poo. Fingers crossed.

lissiethevampireslayer · 22/10/2007 17:01

lol, fingers crossed!

hmmmm, dd2 up and down like a bride's nightie here. If there's a poo a comin' I'm doubtfull if it will end up in the desired place.

Must remain calm and non shrill.

Oh Lissie, never leave a man in charge of potty training. I went out for an hour last week and it resulted in no less than three pairs of new pants whilst I was gone. DH even said "Are you sure he is ready?" . The trouble is he just asks ds2 instead of telling him to sit on the potty which means ds2 says no and then we have dirty pants or a wet floor. Now I remember why I have always taken charge of potty training.

Slubberdegullion · 22/10/2007 17:39

woo hoo

Gigantic wee in potty, and I wasn't even in the room.

dd2 is a genius.

lissiethevampireslayer · 22/10/2007 17:53

pmsl at brides nightie.
and woohoo lilslubber!

bagpuss, thats exactly whats been happening.
dh: do you need the potty
ds: no, diesel!
dh: do you need the potty
ds: no, train.
dh: do you need the potty
ds: no, sweetie

ds wees on the floor.

still, we have had 1 more potty wee and one more floor wee (he did try to get to the potty tho)

ahhhhh, well there's the fall.

dd2 just (impressively) performed running multi directional wee though the house, finishing off with a fair sized pool adjacent to potty.

Was a crazy crazy dream to expect full continence after aprox one afternoon of training.

2/3 not so bad tho'.

lissiethevampireslayer · 22/10/2007 18:18

lol, in the imortal word of scarlett o'hara: tomorrow is another day.

thank f*ck, now wheres that gin?

indeedy, hurrah for mother's ruin.

I even bought limes to max out my G&T pleasure post training.

maisiedaisy · 22/10/2007 19:24

DD has just weed on the floor and then said to me "not to worry!"
She is sitting on the potty having one last go before bed.
The problem I have now is that I have sweets in the house and thay are calling to me!

lissiethevampireslayer · 22/10/2007 20:10

lol

ds is in bed. 2 out of 6 wees in the potty so not too bad. we are staying in again tomorrow and possibly all week, trying to crack this. bless him tho. he climbed onto my lap gave me a kiss and said pants tomorrow mummy.

Here we go again!

maisiedaisy · 23/10/2007 09:13

DD is eating her breakfast whilst sitting on the potty! Not sure this is a good habit to get into!
Finhers crossed for another successful day

Slubberdegullion · 23/10/2007 09:21

morning all

I'm waiting with nervous anticipation for the breakfast waterfall to appear. dd2 currently standing in upturned potty.

Must remain breesy.

I'm going round to friends later this morning and have let myself be weakened by the strong appeal of the feel n learn pull ups. I'm such a marketing sucker.

lissiethevampireslayer · 23/10/2007 10:07

morning ladies! we have had one wee on the floor, as he was running to the potty tho, so not sure that counts. he is sitting on the (washable) sofa eating a banana at the mo in a pair of pants. god, this is hard work!

Whimsy · 23/10/2007 10:42

We have had three accidents so far, all of them while he has been playing upstairs with ds1(my own fault), feel like giving up now

lissiethevampireslayer · 23/10/2007 10:43

dont give up, accidents happen. just think of now as the start of the day

OP posts:
bagpuss · 23/10/2007 11:09

Don't give up Whimsy! This time last week I was feeling the same way but it does get worse before it gets better, I promise. It is all part of the learning experience for them I'm afraid.

Well, ds2 is ill and so crashed out early last night and wet his nappy in the night and then woke me up at 2.00 am to finish on the potty . He has been a bit reluctant but OK this morning although still no poo. I'm a bit worried that he is getting constipated but am trying to give him plenty of fruit and veg and water to counter this.

lissiethevampireslayer · 23/10/2007 11:14

try dried fruit. i call dried apricots "mummy sweets" and ds gets them on a daily basis when he's good (real sweets are saved for potty training)

OP posts:
lissiethevampireslayer · 23/10/2007 12:11

ah, shite. we had a little wee on the potty that he sat down for himself, then he got engrossed in thomas and wet himself, i'd stupidly got him dressed in shoes, socks and jeans. so now i have even MORE washing to do.
hows everyone doing?

OP posts:
maisiedaisy · 23/10/2007 12:27

Not having much luck here either. Nothing so far today, no accidents or anything in potty, worried that she is holding it in.
I put a pull up on her before so I could have a shower without worrying about her and she instantly weed and pooed in it.

I am getting fed up being stuck in at half term - keep thinking about the things we could be doing if she was still wearing her nappy- zoo, park, visiting friends etc.

Must stay focussed. Must stay focussed. Must stay focussed!

lissiethevampireslayer · 23/10/2007 12:36

me too. but, it will be worth it. imagine being able to leave the house without nappies!

OP posts:
maisiedaisy · 23/10/2007 12:40

At the moment I just want to leave the house!

lissiethevampireslayer · 23/10/2007 12:49

i know!

OP posts:
maisiedaisy · 23/10/2007 14:17

DD just weed on the floor,no attempt to get to potty. Only second wee of the day.
