madeleine mccann was not abducted because she was left in a hotel room

ok, i'm probably going to regret this - but i am dismayed to see the same old arguments coming up again and again about whether the mccann's were irresponsible to leave their children unsupervised in a hotel room.
it seems to be the same people posting too.
if they had taken her with them she could have still been abducted while running around while they were having their meal. i doubt they could have watched a 3yr old every second and she could have been snatched while out of sight, as happened to jamie bulger.

the person responsible is the one who abducted her, and if, sadly, it is anything to do with paedophilia, then all those people who support the industry in child porn by watching and paying for the stuff also bear some responsibility.

www.forsarah.com/html/sarahslaw.html perhaps we could all be doing something to try and stop it.

I chose the wrong wording so apologies. What I meant was that when a person is harmed, people often automatically assume that it was by someone they know, because stranger abduction is so very rare, and when a child is abducted by a stranger, the stranger danger fear comes to the fore again, and some people just don?t like to contemplate that, even though there?s more chance of their children being harmed by someone they know than by a stranger, iyswim.

Also agree with fio re cooker, or even wandering out to find me/dh and once they leave the apartment they?re in a public place, on their own.

good grief not another thread

why not just agree to differ?

milkchocolate · 30/05/2007 17:27

Excuse my eloquence. Sorry if this offends.

People will always do as they deem safe, nobody sets out to act irresponsibly. You deem it so After the event. When it has all gone horribly wrong.

What about when you send your kids on playdates? Do you ever think anything will happen?

Through my job a few years ago I had the horrible task of reading through a young paedhophiles chat logs. He was discribing the pleasures he felt when his 4 year old sister had a playdate over, when his mum, a nurse, were bathing the two girls and they came running out of the bath wrapped in towels. Do you trust everybody in your midst?

I feel quite sick at some of the posts on this thread, god forbid the same ever happens to someone close to you or your family!

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/05/2007 18:49

I stupidly thought that this would be a sensible thread. I am sorry posted even to say I agree with the OP.

Quattrocento · 30/05/2007 18:49

Should the McCanns (singly or jointly) be Shot? Should the Paedophile(s) be Shot? Should the Portugese Police be Shot? After All The Portugese Police are Foreign and Therefore Incompetent by Definition. Should the Foreign Sniffer Dogs be Shot? Should the Pope be Shot too? Should All of Them be Shot?

And so on, ad nauseam. Quite literally so, apparently.

It's not discussing it though, just to go "I wouldn't do that".

I mean, I wouldn't have done it, but I wouldn't have been on a MW holiday in the first place for all SORTS of reasons - so it's kind of irrelevant.

hunkermunker · 30/05/2007 18:51

And personally, I feel sick at the "it was the dad wot did it" stuff

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/05/2007 18:56

All human life is on this thread.

Some of it barely recognisable.

TootyFrooty · 30/05/2007 18:57

Daily Mail anyone?

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/05/2007 18:59

More like it's ill educated cousin.... The Sunday Sport.

TootyFrooty · 30/05/2007 19:00

But the Sunday Sport doesn't have the all important self righteous tone of the Daily Mail.

Quattrocento · 30/05/2007 19:02

((Waiting for a group to pop up and in an uncanny Lord of the Flies sort of way start baying...))

"KILL THE THREAD"

Yep, civilisation gone to the dogs.

Someone started a boycott thread somewhere ... might be the only way of retaining any scrap of humanity ...

bogwobbit · 30/05/2007 19:04

Personally, I think it's sick and distasteful to be talking like this when Madeleine's still missing.
That's what makes me feel sick.
The time for recriminations should be when whe's found (God willing) not now.
As for everything else, I agree with Rhubarb and hunker.
