What do you do that 'perfect' parents would swoon at?

Go on admit it here. Following on from the 'do you sterilise' thread, I'm sure there are lots of things that parents do that would horrify others. Let's keep this a lighthearted thread and no having a go at anyone who shocks you ....

I've fed mine chicken nuggets

DinosaurInAManger · 08/12/2005 15:55

Another occasional visitor to McDonalds here. And letting DS3 watch TV (he's only 16 months).

Pagan · 08/12/2005 15:56

I've just stuck DD in front of the Fimbles whilst I'm on here! Also ....

  • Don't sterilise
  • Have very occasionally b/f DS whilst in the passenger seat of a moving car
  • Intend to keep DD in her cot until such time that she can climb out so that she doesn't wander into our bed in the morning

plan to use reins - it horrified dh who kept referring to them as a 'dog lead'
(he's German and they seem to be considered cruel over here)

CARoLsingersKickingatmydoor · 08/12/2005 16:00

Given DD diet coke
let her taste wine on my finger.
Encourage her to put her finger up her nose to wind my mum up.
let her climb to the top of a very tall slide (she was having fun and I was ready to catch her)

ooh loads of things [evil grin]

nailpolish · 08/12/2005 16:02

use bribery

FIMBObellsFimbleAllTheWay · 08/12/2005 16:04

My dh let my ds (2 tomorrow!! ) "sup" some beer. Luckily he grimaced.

same her fimbo - dd1 licks the froth off dh's guinness

(does anyone know if this actually contains alcohol?)

Bozza · 08/12/2005 16:06

Let them both (as toddlers) stick their fingers in my wine and lick them.
Let DD play unsupervised upstairs while I lay in bed.
Generally ignore DD if she cries in the night.
Bribe DS with money.

crunchie · 08/12/2005 16:08

Blimey where do I start....

Feed my kids McDonalds, Sweets, Crisps, Diet Coke etc

Ignore my kids regulalry

Not help them with homework, or listen to their reading

Not read to them everyday

Let them watch loads of TV/DVDs etc

Only bath them 2 - 3 times a week

Leave them overnight with a babysitter

Get drunk

Swear or argue with DH in front of them

Believe in Heathly Neglect parenting

Allow them to get their own breakfast while I have a lie in

Need I go on

motherinfurrierfestivehat · 08/12/2005 16:10

I started by drinking - wine and coffee - in pregnancy and have never looked back since.

beejay · 08/12/2005 16:10

Put dd in front of cbeebies and then gone back to bed for an hour. In fact I have done that ever since she was a year old ( she is now 6)... very lazy and probably rather dangerous ( what if something happened ) but I have had 1 hour a day extra sleep for 5 years and so on balance probably worth it ( shoot me now)

Epiffany · 08/12/2005 16:11

I leaned over and breastfed dd while she was in her car seat, all without undoing any seatbelts
The truck driver alongside thought it hysterical

Pagan · 08/12/2005 16:12

Thought of more

Both had slurps of beer/wine
Feed them food straight from the jar
Feed them milk without warming it up
Fed them cows milk from age of 10 months
Weaned on what we ate from age 4 months - I did stretch to mashing it into a pulp for them though
Fed them stuff from tins

Bozza · 08/12/2005 16:13

Didn't do coffee in pregnancy mi but did do wine and diet coke (and homemade marzipan and royal icing).

DinosaurInAManger · 08/12/2005 16:13

Oh yes, feeding them jars! Bang to rights there!
