DP took me out to lunch today, to The Ivy. Twas really nice, good food and service, great decor, lovely stained glass windows. I only saw one sleb - Trisha Goddard with (I presume) her daughter.
I had seared scallops with bacon, followed by the rib-eye with chips and creamed spinach (with too much nutmeg in it).
It's been a funny old week. The house is a tip because I've hardly been in it (except to catch up on sleep). We're off on holiday on Saturday morning and I've organised nothing. Gulp!

It's a glori0ously sunny day here but I'm stuck indoors baking cakes for the cake sale and sorting stuff to go in our cases for tomorrow.
I went to a Pampered Chef party last night and spent far too much on stuff I don't need.

I went to a pampered chef party once and me and a friend sniggered naughtily all the way through. The woman wasn't pleased but we couldn't help it!

Oggs, I'd avoid the new Windows myself. It might be crap like Vista. I'd go for something older with XP on.

What did you do? Where did you go? What did you eat?

Still undecided about which laptop to go for. I went back to PCWorld yesterday to mooch, and find out what I will need to be able to get the laptop on the internet.
I need a cable router which came in at £50 which will get me wireless access, but only in the same room as the main pc. He said that because we are in caravans the signal will not pass through the metal walls to give me access in the other rooms .

Everyone I've spoken to that has Windows 7 is gobsmacked by how good it is, but as I've never had any probs with XP or Vista I think I might go for a cheaper one.
In PCWorld they said to wait a week or so as the ones loaded with Vista (they don't do XP anymore) should be dropping in price again.

Noticed that PcWorld does not have a single female asistant

I ate lots of Roskilley's ice cream. Raspberry and gooseberry yoghurt are my favourite but I tried Rhubarb instead of gooseberry this year and can reveal it is very very yummy.

We ate homemade pasta for two nights as I bought DH a machine for his birthday and he was enjoying himself. We ate roasted vegetables and feta cheese and had two nights of fillet steak! (there was a nice letter from the bank on our return informing us that we had exceeded our £1000 overdraft limit and they were charging us £25 a day plus £25 for setting up and overdraft overdraft) ...( that is a hysterical ) Still I'd do it all again...except maybe for the fillet steak.

I had half a cream tea as I have finally learned that a whole one to myself results in feeling sick. One cornish pasty was consumed, one is enough to remember they are not really that nice, too much swede and not enough meat!

We went to all our places and enjoyed one more year of telling the children, this is where we got engaged, this is where we got married, this is where we had the 'reception', this cottage is where you started to grow in Mummy's tummy, these are the cliffs where we galloped and almost fell off several times (while not knowing you were growing in Mummy's tummy) since we somehow gave the horse lady the idea we were rather more experienced riders. I reckon in a year or two they'll be rolling their eyes and saying I KNOW!

It was lovely, the bed was terrible, the bungalow was damp but we had a great time.

I have measured all my fat bits...just need to stand on the scales tomorrow morning.

MRI on Saturday. am a bit claustrophobic.

Greetings from the south of France!
We arrived last night after a fraught journey from the airport (got lost a couple of times). The villa is lovely and it's huge so it doesn't feel like there are 8 of us in it. The weather's been great so far, very warm and sunny. Today we explored the village, bought food and spent the afternoon/around the pool. Tomorrow we're going to try to find the beach. All going fine with the other family so far and the boys are loving being on holiday together.

Thanks Berrie. Glad you had a good time too. I've never been to Cornwall but hearing what you have to say about the place, I'm sorely tempted.

Oggs are you avoiding me because of our diet?

Berrie - haven't looked at the blog yet, but will do later. Glad you had a lovely time. It sounds like you had fun.

If you are really worried about the MRI speak to your Dr or the Hospital. You may be able to have a slight sedative but they need to know in advance. Also ask if you can take some of your own music in for them to play. If so make up a cd of your favourite music or an audiobook.

As for the diet I actually started last Mon and have lost 8.5 lbs already!

Humph! That's cheating. Is it a carb free diet then?

I weighed in at 14 st 5lb this morning and I've had a bowl of muesli and am munching an apple already.

Dh is doing it too as he's been running for ages but has not shifted any weight. He very much wants a plan whereas my plan is just not to eat like a pig. He wants to do weight watchers or slimming world but we couldn't go together and I don't really want to pay for the privilege of being weighed and sit for a boring meeting.

Have you had an mri then?

My knee keeps twanging,what's that all about, it really hurts!

We're starting off at a similar weight then. I tipped the scales at 14st 4.5lbs this morning. Now you can see why I started when I did... I was at risk of hitting 15st

I am doing low carb. It works for me (if I manage to stick to it). I find it suppresses my appetite which is a big plus.
Initially I have started out with a typical Atkins approach but I want to tweak it so that I'm not eating so much cream/butter.

My knees are particularly bad at moment. Another spur to lose weight.

Don't think so, the kneeling and twisting. Can't see anything about knee twanging ont'internet I'll ask the physio when I see her. It kept happening first in the kitchen on holiday in the same spot. I ended up examining the floor for anything unusual

So I've since had a carrot and a can of tuna on a slice of toast. This isn't as easy as I imagined. Isn't it always the way? Maybe we do need a plan of some sort.

So far today I've had 2 eggs scrambled, with 2 slices smoked ham for breakfast.
I've just realised it's gone lunch time so am making a cheese and onion toaastie for dh and have nibbled at some cheese. I think I'm going to have some of last night's curry.

Just been to co-op for a diet shop. Twas an obvious basket of stuff. Done it soooo many times before ...sigh.

What sort of stuff did you get?

Ah just a load of fruit,salad, vegetables, fish and muller light yoghurts for a treat.

I did a bit of Atkins once but couldn't stick it. I bought the India Knight diet book but couldn't even start it. So no have not given it a proper go. I guess I plan to do lowish carbs but with our finaces as they are I can't see us buying a lot of meat at the mo. We'll have to pretty much eat what we have in this month but less of it!
