Morning everyone
Just received a copy of DS1's Disney commercials he did, is really funny seeing him on tv and having words to say too! lol

DS1 has a tv casting on Wednesday, anyone else got anything coming up? We have officially had a whole week off from a casting now and I have really enjoyed it!!

ichef · 01/11/2008 12:05

You're quick Melody!

DS1 had his Tesco job it was lovely he had a fun time.

May November bring a lot of castings and jobs to all of us

MelodyDaisy · 01/11/2008 12:14

Really pleased he enjoyed it, where did the photoshoot take place?

Is it normally quieter this time of year? Would imagine it would slow down a bit now, anyone know?

Md oooh we don't have the Disney channel either, though if my ds ever got a Disney job then i guess we would have to get it. He had a casting for the Scottish premier league once and if he had got it we would obviously have had to move to Scotland .
We have normally been fairly busy betwen now and christmas so hopefully something will come up, after the shortlist that came to nothing and the shoot we had to turn down- it would be third time lucky.

pureeandpearls · 02/11/2008 21:08

Went to Tescos this weekend but theyd already hoiked out all the Halloween stuff and were putting in xmas things so missed the pics of can't-remember-who's dc. Sorry.

More fun with white backgrounds this weekend trying to get pics of babypearl and doggypearl for AK....who was it said never work with children and animals?!

HellFireandDamnation · 02/11/2008 21:17

Melody - sadly we don't I was only joking when I said lo slept with the dog!! Good luck!

pureeandpearls - someone sensible! Good luck it's hard!

MelodyDaisy · 02/11/2008 21:27

pureandpearls- My doggy sat good as gold!! lol Managed to get quite a few pics!!
Although my dog does alway's look fairly miserable so don't reckon anything would come of it. I hope you manage to get the pics in the end!

Hello, been having a few comments recently that DS2 is suited to modelling. He is gorgeous (not just his proud mother thinking this).

Any advice for someone thinking about this career for a DC?

2point4kids · 03/11/2008 09:40

Hello, can I ask you a quick question please?
I have had a message from an agency called Childsplay in Kent to say that they'd like DS2 in for a test shot.
Has anyone heard of this agency? Are they reputable?
They want £25 for the test shots. Does this sound right?

Totallyfloaty35 · 03/11/2008 10:31

they have been around years,i was with them 22yrs ago
However i rarely see them at castings(but they could have completely different clients to my dds agents)and i think there are much busier better agents out there with lower fees

MelodyDaisy · 03/11/2008 10:40

I did see them a few times when my dd was a baby but that was 4/5yrs ago. I have not seen them at ANY of the castings I have been to, could just be different ones I suppose but Totally is right, try some other agencies first.

OP posts:
2point4kids · 03/11/2008 12:58

Thank you, both of you, thats really helpful.
I did email photos to a few other agencies too.
I just had a response from rascals asking DS2 to come in for an interview - what do you think of them? Are they good? /expensive start up costs?
(I also got a no thanks from Urban angels!)

MelodyDaisy · 03/11/2008 13:14

They are an agency with start-up cost at the higher end but are reputable. I have not seen them at castings I have been to but I know others have. Which other agencies have you tried?

OP posts:
lea23 · 03/11/2008 13:24

Hi 2point4kids i have just signed my dd up with rascals. The start up costs are expensive but you don't have to use their photographer for the photos if you dont want. There is still a yearly charge though even without the photos. They seemed very good when i went to the interview and seem to get quite a lot of work. My dd hasn't had her photos done yet so obviously no castings yet! They seem to have less kids on their books then some other agencies. Hope this helps!

jojosmaman · 03/11/2008 13:45

Hi Rioja- No advice I'm afraid as I am new to this myself but all I would add is that I read somewhere to see this as a hobby for your dc rather than a way to make serious money which I think makes sense as a) you may not earn a lot of money from it after you take off travel costs etc and b) if the dc doesnt enjoy it then its no fun for anyone! RE agencies, try ALBA's website for a list of approved ones in your area.
Hope this helps and good luck!

MelodyDaisy · 03/11/2008 13:56

jojosmaman is right, you need to see it as a hobby for both your child and yourself as you'd be having to drop everything to get them somehwere!
As an example for newer newbies, I have spent in the region of £500 on travel expenses since August and yes may get some of that back it won't be much, plus you can expect to wait up to 4mths or so for fees to come back depending on which agency you are with.

OP posts:
liahgen · 03/11/2008 13:58

stay away from Childsplay. They have loads of kids on their books, and although yes they are a recognised agency, and some of their kids do get some work, it's nothing like the other more well known ones.

Having said that, I got some lovely shots of my dd couple years ago, and got to keep them on disc, so might be worth going just for the poics,

rascals are a well known established agency, so you are ok with them.

2point4, have you tried?

Kids London
scallywags
Bubblegum
Bizzykids

Who's melody with, I can't remember, they are quite busy.

Take your time. Good luck to all waiting for anything this week.
