Morning everyone
Just received a copy of DS1's Disney commercials he did, is really funny seeing him on tv and having words to say too! lol

DS1 has a tv casting on Wednesday, anyone else got anything coming up? We have officially had a whole week off from a casting now and I have really enjoyed it!!

Hi Karamel..I think the difference with u/a is that they only take on children twice a year ,where a lot of agencies have their books open all year.So they are really busy at the moment
They really are lovely and friendly.

Karamel · 04/11/2008 14:20

Hi Marymay...thanks for the feedback. I meant to say that 'i accept this may not be the case once with the agency'
so hopefully this 'feeling' i get is because they are so busy. I take it you have a child/children with the agency?

ichef · 04/11/2008 15:04

Karamel I felt exactly the opposite and I dare to say you'll chance your mind after you meet Alysia and Rupert as they're really lovely and friendly and approachable, my dd and ds2 are both with KL and we felt such a big difference in the beginning when ds1 joined UA tbh now I cannot complain as KL has been treating us very well but they were a bit abrupt to start with.

Steph8880 · 04/11/2008 15:15

I have to say i kind of agree with Karamel, DD has just joined UAN and you have to apply, then wait to find out if you make the shortlist, then wait to find out if you will be invited to consultation, then after consultation wait to hear if they will offer you the contract, then with UAN we had to wait ages for them to get the letter headed paper so we could have the contract and then the website should have been launched 1st Nov but have been technical problems so we are still waiting for that...... does seem a bit of a kerfuffle, lol!!! Having said that Sarah (UAN) is lovely and very approachable and helpful so i shouldn't complain and UA are so highly spoken of i'm sure its worth the wait!

Curlylox · 04/11/2008 15:28

For anyone whose DC are already in the business do you see Kitsch Kids models at any castings?????
As waiting on UA, got a yes from SW, BK ES and KK. But KK telephoned and they were sounded lovely and liked their website.

yummymummyno1 · 04/11/2008 16:02

Hi all,
DD got consultation with UA - am very excited!!

MelodyDaisy · 04/11/2008 16:04

I have seen them at 2 castings, think it was Brooke77 who had one of her dc with them to give more info? May have got that wrong though! but they are legit.

yummymummyno1-Will keep my fingers crossed for you

Karamel ...Yes my dd and ds are both with u/a.We have only ever been with them and i have no reason to change.
They have both done some nice jobs with them .They are older 12 and 10 so dont get as much work as the younger ones .But that suits us as they have loads going on after school.
ds was very busy when he was 8 ,but i think thats a good age for boys.

tinkerbellchelle · 04/11/2008 18:02

Congrats to everyone who has got a UA consultation! xx

Cant wait for the UAN/UA website to launch ( relaunch )
Have got DS's piccies up in a frame as they look lush - can't imagine how proud I would be if he ever gets a job and he's in print LOL!! xx

Hi y'all model mums!
Just skimmed through the last long modelling thread, took me ages to work out what AK stood for (Alphabet Kidz), so that's one of the best ones to be with is it...? Seems like it from reading on here. My 6 month old dd has just been accepted by Bizzykidz, Elizabeth Smith and asked to come for a test shoot for Childsplay. I was going to just go for BK until I found this thread... It's so exciting! But I'm not sure whether to apply to AK as well before I go for BK. Please advise....... PS, dd says she won't get out of her cot for less than 10 grand. (just like Naomi Campbell)

Pilchard · 04/11/2008 18:52

Hi all,

Good luck to everyone currently on these threads with their lo's, exciting times for lots of you.

Found this thread amongst all the others! Our DD got a date for UA consultation today too, 2.5weeks away yet but very pleased

Hope to chat to you all more now I found this thread

Totallyfloaty35 · 04/11/2008 19:18

My DD having her u/a pics updated on the 9th,anyone got apt then?

lyndall · 04/11/2008 19:21

Marymay, I know it's hard to answer exactly but how much work do your children get now they are 10 and 12? Roughly how many castings / jobs have they had in the past year? My DS is 10 and I also think it is much quieter for the older ones.

ichef · 04/11/2008 19:43

Curlylox I have seen their children at casting and dd did a job with one of theirs they're a new agency but apparently have jobs for their children and they're really lovely aren't they? We thought about joining them but decided to go with a more established agency.

marymay · 04/11/2008 19:55

lyndall...the ones i can think off the top of my head dd had about 10 or so castings this year and one job.DS has had about the same castings and 2 jobs We were away this year for most of the summer holidays. We were also away for the may and october holidays so i dont think that helped.
How has your ds done this year ?

Steph8880 · 04/11/2008 19:56

Congratulations to those with UA consultations and good luck to anyone still waiting x

joflow · 04/11/2008 20:00

Hi

I think KK are lovely too. they rang me up which i thought was really good. They do get work they recently had kids at Burberry casting. They would be good to join as more work as less kids and once more established your child could be one of the best.

Also they will become more and more popoular like U/A and your child will already have place.

lyndall · 04/11/2008 21:02

Marymay, thanks for your reply. Wow! Your children have had a lot of castings and jobs - wish we had been as busy! In the past year we've only had one casting, for Boden, where DS was short-listed but it came to nothing in the end. Apart from that, we had only 5 or 6 calls for castings - mainly in the summer and we have been away for all of them!

Karamel · 04/11/2008 21:40

Steph8880

Thanks for not making feel as though I'm totally insane. I couldn't agree more re the organisation- I mean the new application form????It was just a word doc??? And it wasn't even on the site when books were opened.

Think they are trying a bit to hard to establish themselves as the 'top' London kids agency- by not being fully prepared themselves, and then expecting everyone else to jump through hoops to get in . If they were a new agency, I'm sure nobody would touch them.....BUT.....that aside...I am sure they are a fantastic agency, and I know that many are happy with them.
Now I'll get off of my soapbox....

Now -Has anyone heard from B&B lately?

Totallyfloaty35 · 04/11/2008 22:38

u/a always had the long application process, when my eldest dd joined them more than 3yrs ago it was the same.
B&B take ages to respond to email applications,KL take ages to pay and rarely answers emails even if you are on the books,Bk have loads of kids,AK charge you to audition,KK very very new with some strange pics on website(kids not looking at camera etc),ES cost a fortune to join,MOT dont seem to have any work these days.
There you go,just thought i would list a few minus points of agencies i have dealt with dont let it put you off

christabel · 04/11/2008 22:48

Just wondered how many people on here are with UAN. Getting excited now as DD was with last agency for 18 months so looking forward to seeing what happens with UAN.

marymay · 04/11/2008 23:25

I dont think u/a have to try to hard to establish themselves as the 'top' London kids agency .
I think their reputation speaks for its self. The children on their books get work and are always at castings and they are used by all the top companies.
I think all agencies are good if you are happy with them and your children are getting called for castings.

marymay · 04/11/2008 23:42

lyndall..Your ds must have a great look if he was short listed for boden.
Most of my two castings this year have been for tv stuff. They always seem to cast so many children so its always a long shot.ds has only been lucky once this year for tv .Then his bit was cut .

lyndall · 05/11/2008 00:15

Oh how frustrating Marymay to get that far only to find they cut your DS's bit out! Your two sound like they do very well though and they get lots of castings.

Housemum · 05/11/2008 00:59

Puree - it was me asking re Tesco and it is Xmas stuff - DD in a baby party dress (dark haired/brown eyed, red dress with spotty skirt part)

Karamel - do you mean hear from B&B as in work? DD3 had a casting this week for SMA, DD2 could have had a job for George at Asda today but she was on a school trip.

Whoever was waiting for payments - most agencies seem to pay quarterly, and they will only pay you once they have had money. So if you do a job end August, agency pays kids end Sept but if they don't get money for the job until beginning of October you don't get paid until next quarter end ie end December.

Marymay - v frustrating. DD2's first 2 photoshoots were like that - did the pics but they were never used. Next directory and a Prima Baby cover.
