I dont know who needs to read this...but here i go.

Leggings, yes those thin, skin tight, tasteless, awful "trousers" as some dare to call them.
Have you seen your butt?
Im not shaming, laughing or otherwise. Im expressing opinion. Free speech and all that.
So, when you wear them with double wardrobe bum take a look on the backside, stomach. What is showing and hanging.
Women who started wearing them had butt to show off as they went to gym every day. Later it became trend and cheap way to cover skin.
You can still wear leggings, but be reasonable. Pick something that covers butt at least, doesn't show how far belly is hanging. Etc
We have normalised abnormalities. Why?

Leggings have always been controversial when worn as trousers - are they underwear, are they not?
Yes we wear them at the gym, but we also wear a sport bra on top, and that's underwear too 😂

Threads asking why people like to show so much of their more than averagely large body will never go well, but let's not pretend no-one notice, and let's not pretend in real life no one comment.

Not being funny, but if you have great legs and wear a mini skirt, people do comment too.

Of course people judge and express their thoughts, what else is new.

OrdinaryGirl · 22/11/2025 18:12

I don’t have strong feelings about leggings - although I wonder if OP you are carrying all the strong feelings about them 😄

That said, sometimes I see a lady whose leggings are normal thickness and look fine from the front and the backs of the legs but - presumably unbeknownst to the wearer - are worn through to the thickness of a 1ply tissue on the bum, leaving undercrackers and every thread vein and dimple (normal) clearly visible.

I always wonder if I should say something - Girl Code and all that. I would want someone to tell me! 🤷🏼‍♀️ But I have so far been too embarrassed to. 🤔

Allseeingallknowing · 22/11/2025 18:14

I think they are more akin to underwear, unless they’re thick, textured and worn with a nice top. Some just look like a pair of thin tights and border on indecent, especially when stretched to the limit!

SunandRain101 · 22/11/2025 08:27

Not much of a body shaming...more of sense. People need common sense to what they wear. Its not brain surgery.

But what youre missing is that they don't care what people think as long as they're comfy. When I see the people you're describing i assume they know exactly what they look like and couldn't care less what everyone else thinks. Just let them be? They're not really harming anyone, other than the odd bit of repulsion

Allseeingallknowing · 22/11/2025 17:47

What about size 30 plus?

I assumed 24+ would cover 30+

Catterbat · 22/11/2025 18:31

ThatCyanCat · 22/11/2025 17:50

I believe that's what's known as a backhanded compliment...

Nothing backhanded about it at all unless you think saying someone has a big wobbly arse is an insult.

Allseeingallknowing · 22/11/2025 18:32

Catterbat · 22/11/2025 18:30

Possibly but would stretch too much and become transparent!

Are you a man?

I thought that!

Well yes, I do think it's an insult. If you meant it as a compliment, you'd be the first person I ever knew. As you know. You tell people they have big, wobbly arses to make them happy, do you?

As for the "admire their confidence", that's very long been known as a way of saying "I wouldn't dare if I looked like that". As you know as well.

Please don't pretend you'd love it if someone told you they thought it was great you had so much confidence to wear leggings with your big wobbly arse. We weren't born yesterday.

Catpiece · 22/11/2025 15:52

😱 No one over a size 8 looks good in leggings. No i haven’t been a size 8 since I was 15. No I don’t wear leggings

I don’t agree. The right size, colour and type can make you look really good no matter what size you are.

Oldraver · 22/11/2025 19:06

DecoratingDiva · 22/11/2025 14:46

I don’t look good in anything, I have no sense of style and I pretty much look like I got dressed in the dark assisted by a toddler no matter what I wear.

I have finally accepted this truth so it’s either leggings with long tops because nobody needs to see my bum & belly or baggy shapeless trousers with long tops. 😂😂

judge away!

This is me. I tend to wear tops that cover my belly but not always

For work I have a company polo shirt which is even more unflattering

I also horror of horrors west mostly cat leggings...today's I have Christmas cats

Care not

It’s hardly a compliment!

PrincessofWells · 22/11/2025 19:12

I bought a pair for my husband from Primark to wear under his jeans when we're cycling. He did threaten to go to play badminton in just the leggings though. He's 76 😂

Catterbat · 22/11/2025 19:16

cinquanta · 22/11/2025 19:06

It’s hardly a compliment!

Does it have to be? I think you’ll find there’s quite a large body confidence movement that would be more than happy to own their big wobbly arses!

MissRaspberry · 22/11/2025 19:40

Well to be fair if you don't like them simply don't look at them. No need to write a whole post about it. People wear whatever they're comfortable in. Sure you wouldn't like someone writing out some post slating your choice of clothes. You may not like them so don't wear them but seriously it's not up to you how people dress

Vodka1 · 22/11/2025 19:58

Avoid going out in spring & summer. There is fat people out there, jiggly people out there and i once saw an old woman in a tank top. Ugh. The shame!

She didn't even have the decency to wear a cardi.

If you want to talk about abnormalities let's discuss your atrocious linguistic skills

SunandRain101 · 22/11/2025 08:13

Maybe read the post again. I said those bums who don't look good...why would you wear leggings
I simply dont understand it

I wear leggings because I'm often on my way to or from the stables. I don't care if they flatter my fat arse or not, it's what you ride in. And I'm not changing in a freezing cold stable. So yeah, I wear leggings on the regular. I don't wear things so that they look nice for your eyes.

DottyLottieLou · 23/11/2025 03:18

Is this one of those 'rearrange these words to make a proper sentence' things? Here's one for you. GBYH.
Do post a photo of how stylish you look. Not so we can body shame you, of course, but so we can merely express our opinion.

Friendlygingercat · 23/11/2025 03:46

I assume OP's first language is not English.

WishingOnAStar86 · 23/11/2025 07:47

I'm sure everyone noticed.. Do they need to shout about it, to make a point? No. They mostly have an opinion about it, in the minds and move on with their day. The way these teens dress is absolutely outrageous and with some of the sights I've seen, I know everyone else is thinking the same. We just carry on about our day. Not sure what you're expecting from everyone

What bum "looks good"? Who is the authority on this? Surely that's subjective?

My DH thinks my bum looks fantastic, regardless of what clothes I'm wearing (or not). Someone else wouldn't, because my shape isn't to their taste. That's fine.

There's a very good chance that the majority of the world thinks that you look awful in whatever you've chosen to wear for style or comfort or whatever reason. Because the majority of the world doesn't find you attractive, they find something else attractive.

So leave people be. Yes, you have free speech and the right to your opinion. What you don't seem to have is class, though, because that involves choosing what you do and don't use those things for in a nice, considerate way.

hhogan18x · 23/11/2025 09:18

Just shut up. What a tragic life you must live taking time purposefully out of your day to whine about something as trivial and harmless as people wearing leggings. Are you trying to rage bait on mumsnet? If so that makes you a massive weirdo.
