I dont know who needs to read this...but here i go.

Leggings, yes those thin, skin tight, tasteless, awful "trousers" as some dare to call them.
Have you seen your butt?
Im not shaming, laughing or otherwise. Im expressing opinion. Free speech and all that.
So, when you wear them with double wardrobe bum take a look on the backside, stomach. What is showing and hanging.
Women who started wearing them had butt to show off as they went to gym every day. Later it became trend and cheap way to cover skin.
You can still wear leggings, but be reasonable. Pick something that covers butt at least, doesn't show how far belly is hanging. Etc
We have normalised abnormalities. Why?

How rude. I don't have a "butt" as I'm not American but my bum and stomach look perfectly fine when I wear leggings. I wear them a lot as they're comfortable. I always wear a long top with them.

Your figure must be absolutely perfect if you're describing other people's as abnormalities .

IvedoneitagainhaventI · 22/11/2025 08:07

I'm sorry OP but I found your post quite hilarious. Your obvious outrage about leggings made me laugh.

I find the way people now don't care whether clothes suit them or their body shape, or whether they are suitable for the occasion or setting, really perplexing.

But as I've been told on a few threads on MN it's apparently my problem because people have the right to wear just what they want.

There was a teenager stood at the bus stop a couple of evenings ago - early evening on a freezing cold night - wearing stockings and suspenders. She must have been wearing a tiny skirt but it didn't cover the tops of the stockings or the suspenders at all. And nobody seemed to be batting an eye lid at her. It was at that point I realised I have absolutely no understanding or connection with life today.

cramptramp · 22/11/2025 08:11

YBVU for saying the word butt.

Maybe read the post again. I said those bums who don't look good...why would you wear leggings
I simply dont understand it

It can be a bit surprising when I find myself walking behind someone who's waddling along the high street in leggings that accentuate every wobbly bit of their arse. I myself am unfit, and with a sizeable wobbly arse, and wouldn't wear leggings without a long top or dress. They might as well wear nothing. Especially when the leggings are flesh-coloured, I find myself doing a double-take.

Body shaming post from the OP. We all are different shapes and sizes - not robots!

JaneEyre40 · 22/11/2025 08:20

You like to fat shame I like to grammar shame.

SuePlarr · 22/11/2025 08:25

I agree. The gorgeous girls wearing thick leggings can get away with it, but it’s a revolting look on anyone else.

This week I encountered a thin beige pair showing every cellulite crater, wobble, fat bulge, arse outline and fold in the oversize knickers underneath.

Not much of a body shaming...more of sense. People need common sense to what they wear. Its not brain surgery.

I wear them only at home but always have my arse covered by a long jumper/cardigan. They are very comfortable for gardening and loafing on the sofa to watch TV at night.

I do see some really awful sights when in town at times, especially the beige/skin tone ones that the larger size younger women wear with very short tops. I was able to see the thong outline that one was wearing back in the summer in the light coloured ones. Not a pretty sight unfortunately.😳

Lovetosurf · 22/11/2025 08:41

Just my personal opinion on leggings:
They're just so boring.
For gym/yoga/athletics etc, around the house or wearing as pyjamas, that's ok. Not sure how/why they migrated out of these environments! 😂
Leggings under a nondescript tunic/top - dull, dull, dull. But I understand people wear them to be comfortable and warm.
Black leggings with crop tops, 3/4 socks etc - clonesville!

PracticalPixie · 22/11/2025 08:52

I'm not a fan of leggings worn as trousers (except at the gym) on anyone tbh. Even absolute gym bunnies. But I assume they've been doing exercise and/or it isn't my business. Tbh, the only time I've thought it possibly a little bit inappropriate was when a school mum used to turn up for pick up in a tiny crop top and leggings and pose a bit. There was something off about her body language, but I digress. She actually had a really great figure, so in your book she would be 'allowed'.

Your op is definitely body shaming and also really bitchy. I'm embarrassed for you tbh and hope you don't carry on like this irl.

Sux2buthen · 22/11/2025 08:53

peopke giving attention to an obvious rage troll that doesn’t actually care about leggings will encourage them to post more

PracticalPixie · 22/11/2025 08:57

I don't understand rage baiting on MN though. It isn't as if they get money for engagement like on social media is it? If you think it's a troll, you can report

OopsOhNoZHM · 22/11/2025 14:37

What a sad life you must lead if what someone else wears, impacts you on such a level you feel the need to spout off about it online. Maybe concern yourself with your own business and leave everyone else to theirs.

Greypanda86 · 22/11/2025 14:43

I always wear a short top with my leggings cos my arse is mega 😂

Northernladdette · 22/11/2025 14:44

I think someone is bored🙄

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 22/11/2025 14:44

Its the beige/ light pink ones, even on kids that offend me. I always have to do a double take as i think they are naked.
Just why would you

FurForksSake · 22/11/2025 14:45

Thank god, I’m a size 6-8 so I’m safe. In fact, I shall wear them everyday now I have your blessing.

pawsatively · 22/11/2025 14:46

You sound like a twat. Free speech and all that.

DecoratingDiva · 22/11/2025 14:46

I don’t look good in anything, I have no sense of style and I pretty much look like I got dressed in the dark assisted by a toddler no matter what I wear.

I have finally accepted this truth so it’s either leggings with long tops because nobody needs to see my bum & belly or baggy shapeless trousers with long tops. 😂😂

judge away!

GreenEyed1981 · 22/11/2025 14:48

I have a very active job and I’m walking at a good pace for at least 3 hours per day. I wear leggings pretty much every day, because they’re the most practical thing - comfy, dry quickly if it rains, easy to wear with thick socks and boots. My arse looks pretty bloody marvellous though thank you, as a result of being very active.

Yesitismeandiamcomingforyou · 22/11/2025 15:00

ODFOD.
I see a sight I don't like, I look away and mind my own business. It's not brain surgery.

Justthethingsthatyoudointhisgarden · 22/11/2025 15:02

Fuck me OP, you are definitely body shaming. Mind your own business, and while you're about it, learn proper grammar.

Ireallywantadoughnut36 · 22/11/2025 15:03

God stop staring and judging other women's bums, you don't need to look! Nobody is asking you to. You don't know why they've chosen comfy attire that day, maybe its for work, maybe they do go to the gym but they're not yet super fit, maybe they're off to care for someone, or clean something or maybe just getting up felt tough today and they've popped something easy on. The reason people get self conscious about working out, or going for a walk/run is judgey nasty people like you. They're practical, that's the reason, to answer your actual question which is what they were invented for.
