Ciao Michelle, Welcome to Little Italy..We seem to be missing a few at the moment. Ellbell is having a break, Pippi moving house and med is on hols.. Haven't seen Franca for a few days either but as its half term maybe she is busy. But there are few of us that pop in and out of this thread.
Whereabouts in Sicily are you ? Wonderful place. See you teach English so does Mary pop . I am a SAHM who helps her husbands buisness in Venice speak you soon am off out for a walk before it rains again !

michymama · 02/06/2007 16:01

Hi ! I'm in Selinunte on the north west coast, provincia di Trapani !! Beautiful little village known for its temples !!!
This is the first year I've been back to work since having my babies one after the other !!
Venice is where I started my love affair with italy when i was 4 years old !!! We went on holiday and all the waitors would whisk me away whilst my parents had dinner and give me ice cream and sweete and call me Michelina !! I told my mum i wanted to live there and 20 years later i arrived !!!
Chat soon !!
Michelle

Rosa · 04/06/2007 09:24

Aitch I have a bottle here so if you pass Venice you are welcome to it. I have just finished another but I use it for soaking fruit (!!) rather than drinking as can't hold alcohol since having dd. One glass and I am legless...dh doesn't like it .

Hello Colombina dove 6 in UK ????

Buona giornata tutti ...Rosa off to clean house before heat gets up.....

goingfor3 · 04/06/2007 09:34

Sorry to intrude on your thread but I was wondering if any of you living in Italy buy Italian Grazia magazine. My daughter has some pictures taken and I would love to see them but as I don't know which issue it will be in other than it was for summer clothes it would be lovely if anyone who gets the magazine could keep an eye out for me. Sorry for the rambling!

Aitch · 04/06/2007 09:50

if i pass venice... haven't been since i was a teenager, god, i'd love to go there again. we got married in rome and when we were over planning the wedding dh's wee head was blown by how beautiful it all was. i just said 'wait 'til we go to venice, dear...'

francagoestohollywood · 04/06/2007 11:58

ciao a tutte. sorry for not having been in touch in the last few days, I wanted to farvi una sorpresa writing from italy (we stayed from thursday til this morning, dh had a conference) but the internet connection at the inlaws (where we were staying) was down.
I'm so sorry to hear about ellbell, califrau, do you know whether there's a way to get in touch with her?
And buone vacanze a med!
Btw, the weather was crap, it rained (fair enough Italy needs rain at the moment) and the cherries in the inlaws orchard were already too mature...

francagoestohollywood · 04/06/2007 11:59

michelle, you're in selinunte? .

Rosa · 04/06/2007 13:11

Going4 3...I sometimes get it but do recycle so Mays has gone have not got June yet .. I will be in the Uk from end of June so unlikely to get July . But can ask SIL to look out ..but any idea what to look out for brand of clothing, plave pics were taken etc etc ??
Franca so you sneaked up on us then . Wasn't the weather cr*p? Today sun is out its gettin humid and they say it might rain again but can't see any clouds yet !!!
Aitch well keep saving and I will hold on to the Mirto for you !

francagoestohollywood · 04/06/2007 14:16

I did . I wanted to write a smug post from sunny Italy, but was let down by technology... and by the bad weather too. Yesterday was lovely though, so living today was quite hard (also because we woke up at 4.20).

kokeshi · 04/06/2007 16:09

Rosa you said "not to mention the mirto ( a wicked digestive drink that is very addictive!)"

Sounds lovely (I googled it) but unfortunately that is my problem with all alcohol!

Aitch, maybe I could bring you back a bottle?

Aitch · 04/06/2007 17:11

ah well, kokeshi, i didn't like to just come out and ask... but if you're cool with that then YES!!!

Well, Aitch it was a bit too subtle for your average Weegie, but I'm well travelled me...I got the hint You can tell me how good it is!

So, connoisseurs of mirto, which brand should I be buying and where would I purchase it?

michymama · 04/06/2007 18:33

Franca - yes I'm in selinunte, and the weather has been cap here too, its rained every day since saturday !!

Aitch · 04/06/2007 18:35

i don't drink hardly at all kokeshi but i do like a wee digestive. and lol at good brands... i think the stuff we got cost bugger all in a supermakret. cool, then we can meet up and i can marvel at your bionic womanliness.

kokeshi · 04/06/2007 19:02

Oooh, scary and exciting! How weird, even my really good friends don't know as much about me as I've posted on here. I did so on the assumption I'd be completely anonymous. Ah well, you only life once eh!?

(You'll have to post some scandalous secrets from your past so that we're on an equal footing btw)

Aitch · 04/06/2007 19:46

i'm pure as the driven slush.
seriously now, don't worry if you don't want to, that would be Totally Fair Enough. i hereby remove any perceived obligation on you your part to make good on this offer. if you're up for it, brilliant, if not please don't let it cause any bother at all as i too am generally spooked by the idea of meeting people. i would make an exception for you as you are part-borg, but should you feel disinclined to meet up with a mere human i totally understand. please don't feel any need to make your mind up now, either, i'm not goiing anywhere...

kokeshi · 04/06/2007 19:52

Beware, I may have to assimilate you into the collective. Just call me 8 of 9.

Aitch · 04/06/2007 19:57

lol, we could meet at Little Italy in homage to the thread. should you decide to accept your mission, that is.

Aitch · 04/06/2007 19:58

wouldn't it be hysterical if they sell mirto? i promise i'll check tomorrow...

kokeshi · 04/06/2007 20:06

Now that would be fitting. That's in Byres Rd?

Yes, please check first because DP might not believe that I'm purchasing mirto for an internet sprite. Although some of my previous excuses for acquiring drink have been a lot more far fetched than that!
