Hi all

Can i join? I'm on my second lot of lessons now, failed first time around and have just booked my test for a secret day that i'm not telling anyone , I told everyone last time and hated all the people phoning up after I failed .

I've only got 12wks to do it in though cause i've got a baby on the way and won't be able to carry on with the lessons once he gets here.

CatIsSleepy · 22/05/2007 16:03

hello mrs slow learner....i think this is the place for me...i've had nearly 40 hours so far. I always come out of my lessons with a splitting headache! parking is my nemesis and big roundabouts give me the heebeejeebees. and i'm not sure i even want to pass my test cos then i'll have to go out driving on my own!

queenrollo · 22/05/2007 17:36

the automatic suits me fine tbh because we have an auto car, so i will be able to get some practice in between lessons which i can't at the moment.

MrsSlowLearner · 22/05/2007 20:23

Hi lulumamasmentee and CatIsSleepy
Of course you can join us.

Lulumamasmentee-Are you a name change?

CatIsSleepy-lol i feel just the same as you,i can't even see me having the guts to go through with a test
[scared]
I think that may be why i still haven't booked my theory because it sort of puts you in the starting block so to speak.

Thank you for my good luck message the other day, sorry didn't reply didn't see it ...

The lesson was great, I got into third gear, up to 30mph, went round a roundabout, through some traffic lights ... this driving malarky ain't half bad!

I did stall but some fecker was right up my arse at a junction and I panicked. Lovely driving instructor was very chilled "They all forget they had to learn to drive once as well".

I didn't ask him about correct etiquette for flipping the bird at other drivers, thought I would save that for when I had a few more hours under my belt rather than 2.

MrsSlowLearner · 22/05/2007 20:32

lol
Glad you got on ok Mapickle, when is your next lesson?
I am missing my this week as instructor is on hols.

OP posts:
MrsSlowLearner · 22/05/2007 20:32

mine

OP posts:
MaPickle · 22/05/2007 22:20

Sorry was making food.

My next lesson is Friday. We're "doing junctions". Not quite sure what that means. But I will do my best to do them.

I'm sure missing one lesson won't mean you'll forget everything btw! I have confidence in you!

My instructor hasn't realised I haven't really got a bloody clue what I'm doing. I just do exactly what he says. If he shut up, we'd crash.

MrsSlowLearner · 22/05/2007 22:52

Ahh junctions!
You will be emerging from lots of them .

Hi ladies,I lost this thread, having posted on it a while back(Well the original one).Have just spent all evening trying to cram my theory and hazard perception test from cd rom.Very scared as my instructress says that practical test could be a reality by July aaargh.STILL buggering up the reverse park.

Good look to all fellow learners out there!

lulumamasmentee · 22/05/2007 23:56

Hi MrsSlowLearner

Name changer yes, see the mentor thread in Chat

Glad i've got somewhere to chat about my driving lessons I think DP is bored of hearing about them!

ProjectIcarus · 23/05/2007 00:10

I have had loads of lessons. I intially tried to learn at 21 and it was such a disaster it put me off for oooh a decade ish.

I started this time at 30 odd weeks preg with dd2 stopped when I got too round to turn round then restarted when she was 6 months. 3 months on and I think I might be getting close to a test

My driving instructor is fabbo. He has a written record of everything you have done with grades on. He has hadouts for everything so you can look at pics and suss it out later. A whole folder full of pics of roads/junctions/roundabouts with teeny toy cars to show you where you are going and right of way. The one I had before was horrid.

To get reversing sussed out he got out the car and walked behinh it and made me chase him round a car park in reverse. V v effective. We looked like nuts but I always know which way to steer lol!

CatIsSleepy · 23/05/2007 11:02

thanks for welcome Mrs Slow learner. rashly did my theory test already (well actually i did it very carefully and sensibly cos I'm a girly swot) so now only have 2 years to do practical test. am wondering if that's going to be long enough

am now going to miss three weeks' worth of lessons on the trot but have said i'll practise with DH!!!

ProjectIcarus I like the sound of your instructor!

MrsSlowLearner · 23/05/2007 11:12

Hi
ProjectIcarus-Your instructor sounds just like mine.

Hi

I posted on the original post, glad to see that you are all still hanging in there. I am on lesson 16 and still terrified even more so now as I have my theroy on Friday, I am so nerveous anyone got any tips on combatting the nerves ?

MrsSlowLearner · 23/05/2007 21:54

Hi Snowhite
Wow friday ey?
Sorry but i would be crapping myself too.
Maybe you could try the Rescue remedy ,i use it but not sure if it works or not and i'm not brave enough to drive a lesson without it to find out

OP posts:
MrsSlowLearner · 23/05/2007 21:54

Good luck by the way

OP posts:
CatIsSleepy · 23/05/2007 22:11

Showhite- just remember stopping distances are 10 times longer on ice-they are BOUND to ask you, it came up in every mock test i did and my real one too...
do lots of mocks on-line to prepare- it will make you more confident.
Good luck!

saffy202 · 23/05/2007 22:13

I use Kalms and Rescue Remedy

I have my 3rd test soon (another secret date!). Must have had over 80 lessons and still never feel confident.

wrinklytum · 23/05/2007 22:24

Good luck, ladies.Am just taking a quick break from theory test cd rom,it was sending my eyes funny, have been doing it for 1.5 hours.Could be the wine too though....

Snowhite · 23/05/2007 22:33

Just done 2 theroy tests and passed with 34 & 35 not to worried about that part it is just the hazzard bit. I think a trip to the chemist tommorow for calms and rescue remedy is on my agenda.

MrsSlowLearner · 23/05/2007 22:34

Snowhite-Where did you do the mock tests?

OP posts:
Snowhite · 23/05/2007 23:01

On the DSA website, you have to pay a one off fee think it is about £6 and has all of the offical questions.

MrsSlowLearner · 23/05/2007 23:01

Thanks

Mrs Slow learner I bought a cd rom for 2006/7 tests from Aldi (classy, huh?)

When you get your theory booked they also send you a cd rom.

I have my theory on the 8th June and if I pass will gladly send you my cd rom for cost of postage if you like.Cheers,Wrinkly.
