I know that Candy (Zombie) touched so many lives and is being supported and remembered so beautifully as she takes her next journey.

Woolly Hugs are making blankets in her memory that will be passed onto women who are going through treatment for cancer.

If anyone would like to learn to crochet or would like to offer to help others to learn then please feel free to use this thread and offer your skills.

I'm in Cheltenham. Normally I'd be happy to have a day trip out to Cribbs Causeway (especially because someone mentioned a baby!) but I'm currently awaiting cataract surgery so I won't be driving for a while. Keen for in a few months though if Cribbs becomes a regular meet up

Purple I'm a maybe (could clash with birthday celebrations for my mum but date for that not yet fixed).

I've made 2 different types of square and a big square of corner to corner! I'm very proud. Just used the shitty stuff I bought for dd to mangle for practice. Can anyone suggest the best place to buy some style craft for actual woolly hug projects now?

I've been buying from Wool Warehouse. Not the cheapest postage available, but the yarn has always arrived quickly. Or you might find a local shop has it.

Another KT postcode here and plan to attempt to teach myself. I think there's a knitting shop near work so I'm assuming they have crochet stuff too, and will get a book from the library or You Tube it.

But if that fails, BigApple11 and DoubleR, prepare yourselves for a local cry of "heeelllllppppp"!

Hi diamantegal I've found the Bella Coco tutorials on YouTube to be really good. I've done a couple of scarves for my DC as practise while I'm waiting for the right wool to arrive to start some squares.

some people learn best by video, some by diagram and some by one to one.

try them all til you find what is best for you.

RedGrapeCornSnake I have room in my car for one more person if you want to come down before. I am only about 8 miles from Cheltenham so can pick you up on the way. Both of mine and still in car/boosters seats and my car is tiny so not a lot of room for extra people.

Met up with Yddraigoldragon today and I can now (well maybe) do a square. It's growing quite nicely now anyway. Still not 100% sure with the start but I can now do corners and the bits in between. Here's my first attempt. Not quite finished yet.

Having never done this before, what do I need to bring with me on the day? Also are you ok with a complete beginner? I'd like to learn even if it's only to do a few squares for Candy's Hugs
