I know that Candy (Zombie) touched so many lives and is being supported and remembered so beautifully as she takes her next journey.

Woolly Hugs are making blankets in her memory that will be passed onto women who are going through treatment for cancer.

If anyone would like to learn to crochet or would like to offer to help others to learn then please feel free to use this thread and offer your skills.

Love in every stitch and new friendships made.

I'm in Birmingham.

Saturdays aren't great for me as I my children have activities until 3.45 though I could possibly leave Gloucester at 1.

Vebrithien · 30/01/2017 17:58

Yep, sounds like a plan. Am on mat leave, so am free most of the time!

Vebrithien · 30/01/2017 18:00

Thanks everyone!

PrancerForHoney · 30/01/2017 18:54

I'm in South Ayrshire , Scotland and would love to learn. It's something I've always wished my Grandma had taught me before she passed.

Yddraigoldragon · 30/01/2017 19:15

South Wales here, don't knit but can crochet enough to show someone the basics.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 30/01/2017 21:11

IAmAPaleontologist - I am at the far south end of County Durham. Could try to meet in Durham? Might be half term by the time I am free though

Wolfiefan · 30/01/2017 21:16

Purple daisies I knit and can sort of manage a basic granny square in crochet but that is my lot! I live in S Glos so Cribbs accessible. Have a clingy puppy at the moment so may not be able to make it for a while. Let me know what you decide (if you don't mind.)
I love that Zombie continues to spread the love and make others care about those undergoing cancer treatment. Love ya Zombie!

TheoriginalLEM · 30/01/2017 21:17

East kent here, I work full time but I get Thursdays off for the sake of my sanity :) Very much a beginner but managing some granny squares and a few simple patterns so happy to learn and or teach the basics.

PurpleDaisies · 30/01/2017 22:19

Just in case anyone hasn't seen this on the other thread...

To all friends/family of Candy Orr who I have not already been in contact with: Candy has just passed away peacefully in her sleep. Sweet dreams and burn bright Candle xxx

Such sad news. RIP Zombie. Flowers

MrsDilligaf · 30/01/2017 22:34

I'm in Bucks (Nearest town is Aylesbury)

I'm a novice knitter and would love to be able to crochet.

Waves to @WoollyBack. I've driven through Leicestershire & Northamptonshire today on my way to visit my parents!

FairviewRosie · 30/01/2017 22:38

South Lincolnshire (Spalding). Not a brilliant teacher but could show the basics. Zombie RIP.

MrsEvadneCake · 30/01/2017 22:41

I was just coming to share Purple.
Gin

May new friends be made and there be love in every stitch.

I'm in Bucks (near Aylesbury) and have given up learning to crochet but have taught myself to knit. Would love to learn crochet though. There is a sewing shop in Princes Risborough that might have lessons. Will have a look tomorrow. RIP Zombie

CatThiefKeith · 30/01/2017 22:47

If anyone is near Medway or Gravesend I would love some lessons

LocalEditorDurham&Newcastle · 30/01/2017 22:49

Any County Durham MNers / @IAmAPaleontologist - I/my fellow woolly friends can teach people to knit or crochet. We have a weekly group in Weardale if that is any good for anyone. PM me for details. I was already planning to ask if the group might like to contribute to Candy's hugs.
Sad news. RIP Zombie

Knittedfrog · 30/01/2017 22:56

Great thread. I'm attempting to start teaching myself tomorrow but if it all goes pear shaped I'm in Suffolk if anyone's about to help me at some point.

mumonashoestring · 31/01/2017 08:27

Such sad news, no matter how expected it was.

tapdancing I'm in Oxford and can crochet if you can't find lessons any closer to home. I'm a leftie but sitting opposite each other should work!

KnottyAndPistey · 31/01/2017 09:44

Feeling stunned by last night's news, however much we all knew her time left was so short. Fuck cancer. Bless Zombie xx

Her legacy of Candy's Hugs will be one of love and strength, of coming together to show compassion, support and give and receive comfort. The project meant the world to her, she loved the threads, the colour and vibrancy and of what we were all doing. Such a beautiful inspirational woman. New friendships being formed, new skills learnt, it is all so perfect and fitting a tribute. How lucky we were to know her. X

Knotty and I are feeling quite a responsibility today, knowing we must now not falter, we must take on her project, making it sustainable and successful in the long term, it is properly bloody fabulous to see this thread, together we can do this.

Hugs and love for everyone. Thank you xxx

Dawndonnaagain · 31/01/2017 10:21

Knitted I'm Norfolk/Suffolk border if that's any help.

MrsEvadneCake · 31/01/2017 10:23

KnottyandPistey you are an amazing team and coordinate all the huggers and give so much to so many.

Love in every stitch is so true. Xxxx

County Durham with a. Toddler would be tough. I'm Newcastle/gateshead way if anyone wants a student. I once made a chain and then it went wrong. A lot.

Susiesoap7 · 31/01/2017 12:41

Just posted my first few squares to you knottyandpistey. Sent with love and hugs for dear candy

Knittedfrog · 31/01/2017 14:58

Ooooh, I'll keep that in mind dawn! If I get in a mess with it I may well head your way!

PopGoesTheFuckingWeasel · 31/01/2017 15:01

Stoke here...happy to help

WhenTheDragonsCame · 31/01/2017 21:47

RIP Zombie Flowers

Those interested in meeting at Cribbs. There is a soft play there if wanting to keep little ones busy at the weekend. I guess it would be quite loud for learning to crochet but it might keep the little ones occupied.
