Yes, a man doing housework is a beautiful thing to behold.

UniS · 26/02/2015 15:01

Drafted auto correct . my name is not units.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 27/02/2015 16:50

Units. Bwhahahaha.

You'd think with all those extra children they'd be grateful of lots of cake AND a butler and any other adult company and help they could get. I know my SiL with six expects everyone else including her older children to look after her brood.

Hey, ho, their loss! More cake for SB me!

Donki · 27/02/2015 18:19

Leonard Nimoy has died.

:-(

I fell in love with Spock on the first run of ToS - I was 7.

I will miss him.

Donki · 27/02/2015 18:21

Look - Mellors has put on an original Trek uniform for the occasion.

MaudantWit · 27/02/2015 18:26

I am very sad to hear about Leonard Nimoy, but Mellors does look very fine in that tight-fitting Trek uniform.

::fans self::

Scout19075 · 27/02/2015 19:06

I'm a Trek fan, too, though came at it the ST:TNG. I rarely get emotional over celebrity deaths but this one has hit where it hurts.

UniS · 27/02/2015 19:32

Trek rather passed me by... but yep, I could watch mellors work for hours i that nice snug top. Pass us some of that cake would you scout? A slice of the purple one if you would be so kind.

Have any of you come across the Clandestine cake club? Its sounds interesting and right up my street, but the nearest chapter to me doesn't seem to be very active.

OP posts:
MaudantWit · 27/02/2015 21:43

I've never been a Trekkie, but it so evocative of my childhood that I have a soft spot for it.

I know nothing about the Clandestine Cake Club. Is it a cross between MI5 and the WI?

UniS · 27/02/2015 22:05

Yeah, that's sounds about right. Its a gathering of cake makers to share cake in a location only disclosed to those who commit to making and sharing cake....

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 27/02/2015 22:35

Mmmm, secret cake!

Scout19075 · 27/02/2015 22:45

After nearly two weeks on his own (because of my unwellness and then a trip to PiLshire for TLC), SB got his wish/request to go to soft play with friends. And soft play with friends we did and spent just over four hours FOUR HOURS! there with friends.

Treated myself to chocolate milk tonight with my pills. I'm starting to itch. Blurgh. Yet another damn side effect. One of the drugs thins the skin a bit. The hard-ass one causes rashes. I need to up my cream usage to try and get it under control before I go mad.

Need to stab myself tonight. Still have a lovely bruise from last week's injection. But think I accidentally injected in the same leg two or three weeks in a row so I guess the angry bruise shouldn't be a surprise! I'm meant to alternate legs or sides of my stomach -- the thought of injecting my stomach makes me queasy so I stab my inner thighs.

I think I might take a break from Cheers (just about to start season eight) and break out some movies -- Back to the Future, The Breakfast Club, and Star Trek seem to be in order.

UniS · 27/02/2015 23:30

Breakfast club followed by Back to the future? so you finish in a lightweight fluffy place.

I don't think heathers would be a good one at this time of night.

OP posts:
MaudantWit · 27/02/2015 23:48

I've always loved film and gone to the cinema a lot, but I still managed to miss a lot of the 80s classics. I have never seen Heathers or The Breakfast Club and only saw Dirty Dancing for the first time when it was on the telly a few weeks ago.

Scout - if you don't have prescription cream for the itching, Virosoothe is brilliant (unless it's a dry eczema kind of itch).

UniS · 28/02/2015 13:33

So , is mellors wearing blue and black or white and gold?
Boy and I have just seen "that dress" picture , I see blue/ black , boy sees white gold.

OP posts:
Donki · 28/02/2015 13:36

Just to be awkward, I see blue/gold....

Mellors is in gold - of course!
You won't catch him with a target pinned to his chest.....

UniS · 01/03/2015 10:30

Donki that is just plain odd, which is the gold? The braid? Some screen shots I could at were pale blue and gold.

Right o, need to find motivation this morning. Boy and I had a lovely lazy reading in bed start to the day but need to shift up a gear if we are going to get to church.

OP posts:
Donki · 01/03/2015 22:59

Blue dress, gold braid.

I am just awkward by nature....

Scout19075 · 02/03/2015 10:14

I'm confused by the whole dress thing.

UniS · 02/03/2015 12:04

Its not worth getting confused about scout. Just a 5 minute wonder and an optical illusion.

If you really want something to ponder on, why is a snikerdoodle called that. They are basicly a cinnamon sugar crusted biscuit?

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 02/03/2015 18:15

The first article I saw about "the dress" it had to very obviously different photos and I just couldn't work out what the fuss was all about.

UniS, to through something else into the mix, growing up I called Snickerdoodles (which are YUM!) "Mrs Upp's Cookies" because the recipe we had came from Mrs Upp. Go figure!

For those gardeners in here, how long should you ideally chit potatoes for?

UniS · 02/03/2015 19:50

I leave mine till they have little budded bits looking healthy and dark green.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 02/03/2015 21:51

Thanks, UniS. I started chitting our potatoes late. I'm also determined that this year there will not be an ants nest in one of our bags. I'm going to put both potato bags on a table and pray.

UniS · 02/03/2015 22:58

I need to sulphur candle fumigate the greenhouse and will prob start my spud bags in the greenhouse till it warms up a bit. We had snow on and off today and more forecast from tomorrow. Its a bit nippy up here still.

OP posts:
Scout19075 · 02/03/2015 23:10

We haven't had snow in a while but it was VERY windy today. On the way to the library today SB kept grabbing my hand and shouting "The wind is trying to blow me away! Don't let it take me...!!!"

I need to get rid of last year's grow bag. And weed the strawberries, lavender and empty pot that is going to be red/white/blue poppies this year. Our council planter across the road has daffs starting to come up YAY! SB planted the two years ago last spring was the first growth. We planted a "wildflower mix" among the daffs last year but I can't remember if they're annuals or perennials. If nothing pops up as spring comes SB will plant red/white/blue poppies, there. I should probably weed that, too.

Oh! And last year SB planted an apple seed from an apple he had for a snack. By the autumn the tree was just under two feet tall. It lost all of it's leaves in the late autumn and so all winter I've had a stick in a pot in the front of my house. I took a look at it today and I think there might just be the start of a bud on it. YAY!!!! I'm not sure it's going to survive/grow any more but fingers cross. We're going to plant more seeds from fruit this year, just to see what we can grow.
