Thank you, Wit! A nice ginger tea is what I need right now Flowers

MaudantWit · 11/01/2015 21:39

Do call me Maud!

stickygotstuck · 12/01/2015 12:22

Oops, sorry, I will Maud.
I am more of a surname type of person Grin.

Hello stickygotstuck! I have SmallBoy (aka SB). He's five and a bit and oh-so-cuddly at the moment. I'm constantly getting hugs/cuddles "Because I need one, Mommy."

Am upright again today hurrah! but feel a bit odd. Would love a nap but not sure if I trust SB completely on his own without an ear open. Might just have to snuggle under a blanket on the sofa and watch DVDs this afternoon.

UniS · 15/01/2015 14:33

snuggling on sofa sounds like a good compromise. And if you do doze... well I'm sure SB will wake you up when he wants something at teh tpop of his voice.

Says UniS , who has been known to doze off while boy is reading aloud...

We're on our yearly January trip to the Midlands. I've taken four different drugs in the last four hours -- I feel very strange indeed.

UniS · 16/01/2015 23:31

And that's just coz you are in the midlands... its the accent. Don't woory, they'll gooo awaaaay in a bit .

The problem with steam train rides in January in the Midlands is that it's cold . I don't do cold at the best of times. At least there is toast.

UniS · 17/01/2015 21:29

All that cream n milk n bacon will help insulate you??

Scout19075 · 17/01/2015 21:54

You would think so but I was still freezing. Went to the NSC today, too. Very boy-centric day.

Still feeling strange.

UniS · 18/01/2015 15:55

7 hours skiing with dh and boy. Think we have not quite broken boy, but he is sooooo tired he can't quite decide what to do with him self.

::Puts tureen of warming soup and plate of hot crusty rolls on the sideboard, for anyone needing a hearty, warming lunch and hopes Mellors will do the honours with the ladle::

Scout19075 · 19/01/2015 13:07

What type of skiing, UniS? (Indoor, outdoor, downhill, cross-country, etc.)? I've never been on skis. A bit nervous to try, to be honest, but it does look like fun!

Mmmm, soup. Thanks Maud!

I'm tired of food.

MaudantWit · 19/01/2015 13:28

I never got farther than the dry ski slope, where I dislocated my thumb. ::beginner's mistake::

::Looks sternly over pince-nez:: You need to eat, Scout. Let Mellors serve you with a steaming bowl of soup (which is the soup of requirement and so any flavour you like).

Scout19075 · 19/01/2015 13:40

Don't worry, Maud, I am eating. I'm just tired of it. The forced heavy food at specific times of day is starting to frustrate me. Last night, when we got home from The Midlands, all I wanted to do was curl up and go to sleep once I got SB tucked up in his bed. But no, I had to stay up and eat. I didn't want to eat! I wanted to sleep. But I ate. And I popped six pills in three minutes. And then I felt sick like I always seem to within an hour taking these pills and went to bed around 9:45 instead of the lovely 8:30 I wanted to.

Went into town today. Picked up the library book I had put on reserve (the online search the collection and reserve book is fantastic!) and did the grocery shopping. While SB is really keen to work on his phoenemes and try to read I reserved a Songbirds Phonics storybook for him to try. When I mentioned the book to him, after reserving it, he seemed really keen. I think we'll be cuddling up under a blanket later and reading!

Real snow, real mountains. Having a great family holiday .

Sounds fab, UniS!

Having a very wobbly day. Don't feel well at all. Have a full day of babysitting, taking the boys swimming and collecting a friend from the hospital so he's home in time for the school bus (and I can return his boy).

Oh, and we have snow happening here on Scouthill.

I think FS tomorrow might need to be missed -- between my unwellness and SB's hate of walking on the snow we'd be a right pair in the forest an hour from home.

MaudantWit · 24/01/2015 09:37

Oh dear, Scout. That sounds like a taxing kind of day. Hope you got through it and are feeling stronger today.

::As if by magic, Mellors appears carrying a huge pot of steaming porridge::

Scout19075 · 28/01/2015 09:35

It's been a roller coaster for sure!

I want to crawl back into bed.

UniS · 28/01/2015 19:24

Care to join in a sing song scout?

12 green bottles hanging on the wall...... Etc

I've been reading a boy scouts of america 1930s era adventure story " Dan Carter, Cub Scout ". Its very much a tale of leaping from peril to peril via a sing song and a camp fire. It was on project guttenburg. I have a girl scout story for tonight.

Scout19075 · 29/01/2015 12:23

Always up for a sing song, UniS!

Do they wobble to and fro?

UniS · 29/01/2015 18:53

Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?

Scout19075 · 30/01/2015 06:45

Can you throw them over your shoulder like a Continental Soldier?
