Oasis - The Reunion (Definitely?! Maybe?!)

Ok, slightly a TAAT....

I'm putting this here for all those that are actually happy and quite excited about the prospect of Oasis getting back together.

For me, Oasis was the soundtrack to my coming of age, venture into adulthood. I was 19 when DM was released, and I still play it often.

My first Oasis gig was Knebworth - 4 hours I spent on the phone trying to get tickets for me and my friends!

Lucky enough to see them a further 6 times over the years, one of the best was on the Dig out your soul tour at Bournemouth with a full gospel choir, it really was magnificent.
Also saw them at Wembley stadium, the last night of 3 when they played Whatever - they rarely played it and it was the first time in years, again such a moment and just a couple of months before they fell out.

So, I know I'm in a minority on here but I'm definitely getting up tomorrow before 0800 (which will be a pain as I'm on a 12 hour late shift later!)

My 16yr old daughter is very excited!

What is happening at 8am tomorrow? I didn’t think the tickets were going on sale yet? 🤯

HeartandSeoul · 26/08/2024 20:21

Or is it just the announcement of their plans? My daughter said it is the 15th anniversary tomorrow of their split.

JaneIves · 26/08/2024 20:21

It's looking likely it's the announcement about reforming, along with tour dates.

I think we are well past speculation now, it's happening!!

Yep we are very excited in this household too! I’ve never seen them as was too young back then, but DP has seen them a few times. Do we think tickets on sale this Friday!? It’s going to be more stressful than trying to get tickets for Glasto (which we are NEVER successful at).

JaneIves · 26/08/2024 20:24

This is doing the rounds on SM, so tickets potentially on sale next week....

Can’t help feeling they’ve burned through their millions and want to stuff the coffers again.
i felt they were arrogant and let down so many fans in the past.

Twilightstarbright · 26/08/2024 20:27

I’m desperate to go! I still listen to this day and oasis were one of the very few bands the entire family from granny to teens would listen to. I’ll try my best to get tickets.

saw one thread on here of people slagging them off- if you don’t like them, don’t go to see them and don’t buy a ticket?

Rubyandscarlett · 26/08/2024 20:30

What's the Story is on my top 3 albums of all time - listened to it just last week and still know every word to every song. I am excited too op but don't think l will try and get tickets

Avalovelace · 26/08/2024 20:33

Yeah I’m well up for this. Saw them at Earls Court in 95 and Knebworth in 1996 (still got the t shirt). Also seen NG & LG separately. I don’t usually like big stadium gigs but would make an exception. My kids (age 20/18) will want to go.

TokyoSushi · 26/08/2024 20:33

I think I probably know every word, to every song, it was the soundtrack of my teens, I've seen them about 5 times but we'll definitely try to go again!

I very much doubt either 'need' the money. Both have toured extensively for years, and both have massive fan bases.

We can only speculate about private lives etc, but it's well known NGs ex wife (Sara) despised LG. Perhaps she drew the wedge, but their relationship was always tempestuous anyway.

Ordinary folk go no contact everyday, and later reconcile. I don't see why this would be any different. Just the millions it will likely generate!

I was a fan in my teens and quite pleased with the news - although I won’t personally go to the gigs because I object to paying the price that gigs are now.

Yes I do think it’s because Noel is skint. They both are but Noel was the hold out. I hope Liam has mellowed enough now that he can get through the shows without launching a tambourine at Noel’s head or trying to smash him with a guitar

Changed18 · 26/08/2024 20:37

Thinking about it… bound to be super expensive. My 13 and 17yo’s would both be keen if we did get tickets. DS has already seen Liam at Boardmasters but says Oasis would be something else again.

tribpot · 26/08/2024 20:42

I think if I were bankrolling this tour I'd be very concerned about them falling out after 2 shows and the rest getting cancelled.

I will definitely be trying for tickets.
If they're similar to Blur at wembley last year, I paid £110 all in for a lower level seated seat- I don't think that's too expensive in the slightest, the atmosphere there was electric.

ZenNudist · 26/08/2024 20:49

I want to go to this in heaton park. I hate these kind of gigs (seen them on the definitely maybe tour when they were still doing small venues) but ds (14) wants to go.

Oldfatandfrumpy · 26/08/2024 21:00

They were the soundtrack to Uni and also my husband's favourite band. I am so worried we won't be able to go 🤦‍♀️

I don't rate Heaton park as a venue, but that's purely because I went to the Stone Roses reunion there (which was good!) but the wind on the night really affected the sound!
It will be electric though, regardless.

Tickets on sale on Saturday - yay!

LizzieSiddal · 27/08/2024 08:02

Does anyone have a link to the announcement?

Bluebellsinthewind · 27/08/2024 08:03

Sky news said X. But nothing on there yet. Tickmaster has a holding page.
