FEEDBACK THREAD for Joggler testers

665 replies

GeraldineMumsnet · 29/05/2009 12:12

Hi, hope your Jogglers have arrived safely. Once you've had the chance to get them set up and had a play, please can you post your feedback to these questions from O2:

  1. Did you find it easy to set up?
  1. What worked best for you?
  1. Would you recommend it to a friend?
  1. Do you think it's good value for money
  1. Would you like to see any additions?
  1. How would you use it to organise your family life?
  1. Anything else you'd like to add?

And the latest on the webchats is that they'll now take place between 1-2pm (not 7pm) on Weds 10 June and Weds 1 July on www.mum-e.co.uk, but as usual if you can't make it on the day you can leave your questions/feedback in advance and the Joggler team will answer them/respond between 1-2pm.

We'll post the urls of the chats as soon as we have them.

Happy Joggling,

MNHQ

I'm still getting on pretty well with it, but then this is the first time I have used technology to help run the family and it's doing welll so far. I will be doing the feedback thing tomorrow, but I wanted to see if anyone can help me with the templates that o2 have sent to my phone. All I have is 4 or 5 texts that say things like "add CALENDAR_NAME DDMMYY". How do I use these? I cannot see anything online with instructions and there is nothing in the booklet. Surely this is the Joggler's USP - the ability to text it stuff on the fly? Can someone tell me how to use the templates, please, please?

wilbur · 30/06/2009 16:30

I have tried several times and with several formats, but every time, I get a text back saying "sorry, we don't have that calendar name"

wilbur · 30/06/2009 17:33

Just looked at that OpenTablet thingy that Lupus linked to which is a joggler with a docking station, phone and better speakers. I would have one of those in a shot, looks fabulous!

Anyone around to answer my template q? Anyone, hellooo, hellooo.....

BecauseImWorthIt · 30/06/2009 17:35

Anne70 - what about the things we've posted here though? Will you respond to those, or do we have to post them again tomorrow?

MerlinsBeard · 30/06/2009 17:50

Wilbur the template for adding an event is

add CALENDAR_NAME EVENT, DDMMYY

so i could text

add mumofmonsters night out, 300609

you need the , in

GingerIgnoramus · 30/06/2009 17:53

er yes the cancel/ confirm thing is still confusing me on " cancell the event?"

ANd when you are typing an event name in and want to delete ONE letter I woudl normally press C for that and then i wiped the whole sentence..

is it JUST me?

anne70 · 30/06/2009 18:03

Hi all

Yes if you could re-post tomorrow I'll have the tech bods from O2 with me so I'll be able to answer all questions immediately.

Many thanks
Anne

lou031205 · 30/06/2009 18:04

I would like to be able to use commas when I am texting a calendar event, but it confuses the joggler.

fruitshootsandheaves · 30/06/2009 19:55

when you text an event to the joggler is it supposed to add the event to the correct day?
Mine just puts the whole message at the date and time that I texted it.
It seems a bit pointless this way as the event won't show up in the correct place.

Am I doing it wrong?

whoops · 30/06/2009 20:26

I'm not going to be able to make tomorrows web chat now, have just started a new job and don't have internet access

AnnMumsnet · 30/06/2009 20:43

To all testers: I'll be emailing you in a mo with the agenda for tomorrows chat - which will be over on the mum-e site from 1pm. If not received please email me ann @ mums net. com

Whoops I'll still email you as there are some questions you may want to see/ answer.

Cheers
Ann

MerlinsBeard · 30/06/2009 20:58

fruitshoots .. if you send the joggler a message it will display as a message, if you text the completed template to 80202 it should add to correct day.

Am going to answer the questions here in case the joggler doesn't remind me in time or i am out ....

1Two weeks in, is the O2 Joggler having a positive impact on your family life? Why/why not?
At the moment i have 2 diaries going - more me being afraid that the joggler will break and i will lose all my info though and it's handy when i am out just to flick thru pages.

2What are the three things on it that you are using the most?
Calendar, music, weather

3What are the three things you?d like it to do that it doesn?t currently? Add apps to persionalise it (eg a twitter/facebook app) check web based email such as hotmail/gmail/yahoo (another app?) radio maybe?

3b.Do you use/ see the benefit in streaming music photos and video from the home pc or laptop directly to the Joggler?
No but i like being able to add them via USB although memory is too small for a family with very different tastes in music!

4b. News and Sport ? we are considering adding a video news/sports news roundup. Would they use these apps more if they had this functionality? No, i don't use the news as it's SKY news which i do not trust

4c.On portability we are specifically considering a docking station and the Joggler screen would have about a 4 hour battery life before it needed charging. Are there any issues with this? Will the screen get lost in the home? Do the benefits outweigh any disadvantages?
Would LOVE LOVE LOVE this

4d.

Do you use a calendar on your mobile currently? no

Would you like to be able to see your O2 Calendar on your mobile?
ooh good idea!

Would you expect to be able to just view events or also add new ones?
everything i could do with a normal diary

e. Watch again TV - would you like to be able to watch TV on you Joggler for example on iPlayer? Would you be interested in being able to stream programmes from their main TV to the Joggler? When/why would you use this?
screen is too small but it's a good idea for an app

GingerIgnoramus · 30/06/2009 22:20

Part 1: Getting a sense of how it is working in family life.

  1. Two weeks in, is the O2 Joggler having a positive impact on your family life? Why/why not?
    YES kids like it a lot and check it, I can update from work

  2. What are the three things on it that you are using the most? weather ( altho local large town NOT on it) calendar andsport news

Part 2: Refining what you want next/what is most important to you from the Joggler and Calendar

  1. What are the three things you?d like it to do that it doesn?t currently?
stick to wall, have Salisbury on the weather thing, do bbc news not sky

a. We know Calendar syncing is one ? what do they mean by this i.e.

  1. Do you want to synchronise your/your family?s personal calendar (i.e. outlook) with the whole of your O2 Calendar?
yes
  1. Do you want to synchronise selected events from your personal calendar with your family on your O2 Calendar? yes
  1. Or do you just want to be able to invite your O2 calendar from other calendars I.e. outlook & visa versa?
that too b. Do you use/ see the benefit in streaming music photos and video from the home pc or laptop directly to the Joggler? yes please
  1. We?ve also had some more ideas about improvements, would any of these be useful?

a. Traffic. We are considering adding extra functionality which would provide text showing real time traffic incidents, accidents, traffic jams for their region. What?s the view on this ? hmm not so improtant for me

b. News and Sport ? we are considering adding a video news/sports news roundup. Would they use these apps more if they had this functionality? god yes the boys would

c. On portability we are specifically considering a docking station and the Joggler screen would have about a 4 hour battery life before it needed charging. Are there any issues with this? Will the screen get lost in the home? Do the benefits outweigh any disadvantages? hm four hours wouldnt cover a personbeing at work for the day would it?

d. Calendar on the mobile:

  • Do you use a calendar on your mobile currently? yes

  • Do you use it to manage your own events, or do you also use it to manage events for other people in your family?
    mine

  • Would you like to be able to see your O2 Calendar on your mobile? GOD YES

  • Would you expect to be able to just view events or also add new ones? view - could always text new events home

e. Watch again TV - would you like to be able to watch TV on you Joggler for example on iPlayer? Would you be interested in being able to stream programmes from their main TV to the Joggler? When/why would you use this? YES YES YES

Part 3: Wash up: Questions from last time that haven?t been answered/ asked

  1. Back up information (O2 to update users)
  • You mentioned that you wanted reassurances that your O2 Calendar information is backed up. O2 automatically backs up the accounts. Is it sufficient to know that it is automatically backed up for you, or do you also want to be able to store a back up copy of your account somewhere else, like on your PC? ooh i dont know

I d like to say thanks a lot for it = I am the envy of my mates and we love it - just annoying it wont go on the wall or unplug

fruitshootsandheaves · 30/06/2009 23:03

Thanks MumofMonsters I thought thats what it should be doing, I must have done it wrong then as mine hasn't come up on the correct day yet, will keep experimenting!

fruitshootsandheaves · 01/07/2009 12:13
  1. Two weeks in, is the O2 Joggler having a positive impact on your family life? Why/why not?

~~~~~~ Overall it?s been really good, especially the photoframe and the calendar is useful although I still have to use my palm for backup
  1. What are the three things on it that you are using the most?
~~~~~~ The calendar, The News and the Weather

  1. What are the three things you?d like it to do that it doesn?t currently?

~~~~~~ IT NEEDS AN EVENT ALARM I am not adding as much to it as I would if it had an event alarm. I still need to use the calendar and alarm on my Palm if there is a REALLY important event as I can?t completely rely on the text messages.
~~~~~~ also the alram it does have could do with a few more features. At the moment you can?t set it to go off everyday unless you reset it every time. It would be great to be able to use it as an alarm clock with options to have it go off every weekday or weekend or just once.

~~~~~~ IT NEEDS A MUCH IMPROVED REAPEAT FUNCTION. I can?t put in my husbands shift pattern as the repeat function is not flexible enough. This is a BIG NEGATIVE point as I always have to refer to an alternative calendar with his shift marked on.
~~~~~~ And of course CALENDAR SYNCING would be fab (thats 4 sorry can't count!)

a. We know Calendar syncing is one ? what do they mean by this i.e.

  1. Do you want to synchronise your/your family?s personal calendar (i.e. outlook) with the whole of your O2 Calendar?
  2. Do you want to synchronise selected events from your personal calendar with your family on your O2 Calendar?
  3. Or do you just want to be able to invite your O2 calendar from other calendars I.e. outlook & visa versa?

~~~~~~ I don?t have a calendar on Outlook but I do use ical on my mac and it would be good to be able to sync it with that .It would also make the Joggler very ?portable? if it was able to sync with my palm and palm software which would be very useful.
b. Do you use/ see the benefit in streaming music photos and video from the home pc or laptop directly to the Joggler?
~~~~~~ I have used this feature but to be honest most of my pictures and music is on my laptop and as I have to switch my laptop on to use this feature I might as well view or listen from the laptop.

  1. We?ve also had some more ideas about improvements, would any of these be useful?
a. Traffic. We are considering adding extra functionality which would provide text showing real time traffic incidents, accidents, traffic jams for their region. What?s the view on this ?

~~~~~~ The traffic is rubbish at the moment, the map is limited and there is no clue as to what the little symbols mean. For example: A 20 in a pointy circle does this mean that it is 20mph, a 20 mile queue or a pile up of 20 cars?
~~~~~~ It would be useful to see what the problem is. Maybe link it to online or radio traffic news and have it display ?lorry has lost its load of mooncups on M25 clockwise at junction 6, 1 hour delay?

b. News and Sport ? we are considering adding a video news/sports news roundup. Would they use these apps more if they had this functionality?

~~~~~~ The news and sport functions are great. They both have a good amount of information for each headline. As I use these features a lot I don?t think a video roundup could make me use them anymore!
c. On portability we are specifically considering a docking station and the Joggler screen would have about a 4 hour battery life before it needed charging. Are there any issues with this? Will the screen get lost in the home? Do the benefits outweigh any disadvantages?
~~~~~~ Its too chunky to ever be portable unless a separate mobile sized calendar tablet were to be invented (I get all the royalties from this idea now!) I don?t think I would use it as a portable device, would look a bit silly turning up to a meeting with your joggler!

d. Calendar on the mobile:

Do you use a calendar on your mobile currently?

~~~~~~ sometimes
Do you use it to manage your own events, or do you also use it to manage events for other people in your family?
~~~~~~ My own events but my phone calendar is fiddly and not very good.

Would you like to be able to see your O2 Calendar on your mobile?

~~~~~~ YES definitely this would be a BIG improvement.
Would you expect to be able to just view events or also add new ones?
~~~~~~ Both

~~~~~~ I have spent hours trying to text events to my Joggler and I just can?t get it to work. I have succeeded once but it just added the whole message at the date and time I texted it and not to the day and time of the event. I have tried all sorts of formats, spaces and commas and I just get an error message saying that it wasn?t understood. I have no problem checking events
Watch again TV - would you like to be able to watch TV on you Joggler for example on iPlayer? Would you be interested in being able to stream programmes from their main TV to the Joggler? When/why would you use this?
~~~~~~ This would be a great feature to show off to guests but I think the screen is too small to watch iplayer and I can already use my PC, my laptop or even my Wii for this.

Back up information (O2 to update users)
You mentioned that you wanted reassurances that your O2 Calendar information is backed up. O2 automatically backs up the accounts. Is it sufficient to know that it is automatically backed up for you, or do you also want to be able to store a back up copy of your account somewhere else, like on your PC?

~~~~~~ I believe you when you say it is backed up! Theres too much clutter on my computers to need to have to back all the Joggler stuff too.
Overall I love my Joggler, it looks lovely and it has been great fun to test out all the functions. Thank you for giving me one!
BoysAreLikeDogs · 01/07/2009 12:25
TBH I can't get to grips with mine at all, although DH and DCs enjoy playing with it
I am a failure
wilbur · 01/07/2009 12:57
I am going to join the web chat, but will paste answers to questions that Ann sent here, in case it all moves so fast againthat I don't get it all in (sorry about the shouty capitals in some of it):
  1. Two weeks in, is the O2 Joggler having a positive impact on your family life? Why/why not?
Yes, it has replaced my wall calendar at the moment because I like having the ability to change events online and also for dh and 1 to get texts to remind us of things. I hope it can continue to do so long term, although there are a few things about the calendar (see below) that might mean I revert to pen and paper. 2. What are the three things on it that you are using the most? I am using the Calendar, the news, and the messaging system, which rocks. Sadly, I have even been known to text it from the sofa ? it's in the kitchen ? as I suddenly remember a birthday present that needs buying or a text that needs checking. It took me a while to get the template text working, so that I could text the calendar directly, and those seem ok, but not very intuitive and people who have not been given a free Joggler may well not make the effort to find out how the templates work and really get to grips with them. Plus you still have to go into the calendar to put things in the right time slot as there is not an option for that on the phone.
Part 2: Refining what you want next/what is most important to you from the Joggler and Calendar
  1. What are the three things you?d like it to do that it doesn?t currently?
I would like it to have a To Do list that is linked to the Calendar (I keep going on about Remember The Milk, but please look at it for a great To Do list set up) and that I could also invite dh to add stuff to. Mainly, I would like him to look at my To Do list on a regular basis to see what I have on my plate and possibly help me with some of it. I would like it to have an event alarm AS WELL as the text reminders. I would like it to have a choice of applications so I could customize it for my family. And a fourth ? I would like to be able to ?full screen? the calendar so that I can see more of it in week mode ? lose the names along the top etc, just temporarily, like you can when watching vidoes online. Oh, a fifth - sometimes it goes very slow - can this be improved? a. O2 know Calendar syncing is one ? what do you mean by this i.e.
  1. Do you want to synchronise your/your family?s personal calendar (i.e. outlook) with the whole of your O2 Calendar?
It would be good to be able to choose which Calendar to sync the Joggler with - any online Calendar, so people could choose which calendar is best for their family, outlook, google etc.
  1. Do you want to synchronise selected events from your personal calendar with your family on your O2 Calendar?
Yes, this would be good for dh who uses Outlook at Work ? he could send stuff from Outlook to the O2 calendar, but not every single meeting.
  1. Or do you just want to be able to invite your O2 calendar from other calendars I.e. outlook & visa versa? Isn;t that the same as above? Not sure of the difference here.
b. Do you use/ see the benefit in streaming music photos and video from the home pc or laptop directly to the Joggler? Yes, but only if the Joggler is portable ? ie I could take it up to bed to watch something.
  1. O2 have also had some more ideas about improvements, would any of these be useful?
a. Traffic. We are considering adding extra functionality which would provide text showing real time traffic incidents, accidents, traffic jams for their region. What?s the view on this ? This would be good ? I don't use traffic on a day to day basis as we live in London and rarely drive, but when we are leaving town, it would be great to check and see exactly what is happening on the roads at that moment so we can choose which way to head out. b. News and Sport ? we are considering adding a video news/sports news roundup. Would they use these apps more if they had this functionality? Doubt I would watch news videos (unless there was an option to watch a video just about the story I am interested in), for a round up I am more likely to turn on BBC News 24 for that. c. On portability we are specifically considering a docking station and the Joggler screen would have about a 4 hour battery life before it needed charging. Are there any issues with this? Will the screen get lost in the home? Do the benefits outweigh any disadvantages? This would be brilliant. Benefits definitely outweigh the disadvantages ? my kids know I would break their legs if they took the Joggler without permission, but they are not teenagers yet, so I may have to eat those words in a few years. One of the clever Mners has already linked to the Open Peak Open tablet and it looks awesome ? could the Joggler ever become like that?
d. Calendar on the mobile:
· Do you use a calendar on your mobile currently? NO
· Do you use it to manage your own events, or do you also use it to manage events for other people in your family? N/A
· Would you like to be able to see your O2 Calendar on your mobile? YES, BUT NOT SURE HOW THAT WOULD WORK ? WOULD I HAVE TO PAY MOBILE INTERNET CHARGES? CURRENTLY, I HAVE A VERY SIMPLE, BASIC TARIFF.
· Would you expect to be able to just view events or also add new ones? WOULD LIKE TO BOTH VIEW AND ADD NEW ONES IN THE RIGHT TIME. THIS WOULD ADDRESS A KEY ISSUE FOR ME WHICH IS THAT I DO NOT CARRY A DIARY AROUND WIITH ME AND ALWAYS HAVE TO CHECK THE KITCHEN CALENDAR WHEN I GET HOME. HAVING SOMETHING ALWAYS WITH ME THAT CAN SYNC TO MY HOME CLEANDAR ON THE JOGGLER WOULD BE AN ORGANISATIONAL REVOLUTION.
e. Watch again TV - would you like to be able to watch TV on you Joggler for example on iPlayer? Would you be interested in being able to stream programmes from their main TV to the Joggler? When/why would you use this? YES, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE A TECHNICAL NIGHTMARE ? IF YOU CAN MAKE IT AS EASY AS SKY+ THEN YES, I WOULD WATCH THE OCCASIONAL BIT OF TV ON IT. WE DO NOT HAVE OR WANT A TV IN OUR KITCHEN OR OUR BEDROOM, BUT A PORTABLE JOGGLER WITH TV CAPABILITIES WOULD BE A WELCOME ADDITION FOR EVERY NOW AND THEN USE. I WOULD ALSO USE IT AS A TREAT FOR THE CHILDREN ? THEY LOVE SOMETIMES BEING ALLOWED TO WATCH FILMS ON DH'S IPOD.
Part 3: Wash up: Questions from last time that haven?t been answered/ asked
5. Back up information
· You mentioned that you wanted reassurances that your O2 Calendar information is backed up. O2 automatically backs up the accounts. Is it sufficient to know that it is automatically backed up for you, or do you also want to be able to store a back up copy of your account somewhere else, like on your PC?
YES ? A PROGRAM TO BACK UP THE CALENDAR ON MY OWN pc WOULD BE GREAT. LIKE RIGHT NOW WHEN I CANNOT GET INTO O2 AND I WOULD LIKE TO ADD A COUPLE OF THINGS TO THE CALENDAR.
IS THE o2 SITE CURRENTLY DOWN? I AM TRYING TO ACCESS MY CALENDAR AND CANNOT GET IN.
Any movement from o2 tech bods on calendar issues that we discussed last time? Specifically:
End time for events
Events that are over night not starting and showing that they go all day ? ie a way to show they start at 4pm and end at 11am the next morning?
GOT to have a direct link to calendar on o2 site home page ? the ?What a busy day? lady is driving me mad. When my calendar times out, I need to click and be taken immediately to the sign in page, not back to the Joggler info page.
Choices of colours for fonts or highlights for events, but not across whole day. So a birthday could be written in red or have a red highlight around it.
A way to sticky certain event to top of day ? like b'days. I don't want extended events to push a b'day down the page.
MerlinsBeard · 01/07/2009 14:12
So i turned up for the mum-e chat at 2pm and....it was 1pm so sorry!
I can't blame the joggler either as i forgot to put a reminder in
MerlinsBeard · 01/07/2009 14:19
so, scrolling thru the session ... what has the family bolt on got to with the joggler?
BONKERZ · 01/07/2009 16:12
Part 1: Getting a sense of how it is working in family life.
  1. Two weeks in, is the O2 Joggler having a positive impact on your family life? Why/why not? IT IS, WE CAN LOOK AT WHAT EVERYONE IS DOING AT ANY TIME, MY HUSBAND NOW GETS TEXTS TO REMIND HIM IF IM OUT OR HE HAS AN APPOINTMENT SO HE DOESNT FORGET AND STAY ON AT WORK ETC. I AM ALSO USING A SECOND CALENDAR FOR MY SON WHO HAS AUTISM AND WE PUT HIS DAILY ROUTINE ON IT SO HE JUST CHECKS HIS CALENDAR AND KNOWS WHAT TO DO...THE FACT IT IS WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS AND THERE IS NO EYE CONTACT ETC MEANS NO ARGUING!
  2. What are the three things on it that you are using the most? CALENDAR, MUSIC AND WEATHER
Part 2: Refining what you want next/what is most important to you from the Joggler and Calendar
  1. What are the three things you?d like it to do that it doesn?t currently?
MORE GAMES, MORE MEMORY FOR PHOTOS AND MUSIC, ALARM LINKED TO CALENDAR EVENTS, TO DO LIST LINKED TO CALENDAR
a. O2 know Calendar syncing is one ? what do you mean by this i.e.
  1. Do you want to synchronise your/your family?s personal calendar (i.e. outlook) with the whole of your O2 Calendar?
DONT USE ANY OTHER ONLINE CALENDARS
  1. Do you want to synchronise selected events from your personal calendar with your family on your O2 Calendar? N/A
  1. Or do you just want to be able to invite your O2 calendar from other calendars I.e. outlook & visa versa? N/A
b. Do you use/ see the benefit in streaming music photos and video from the home pc or laptop directly to the Joggler?
NOT USED THIS, ITS EASY ENOUGH TO PLACE MY MEMORY CARD IN AN ADAPTER AND TRANSFER DATA THAT WAY.....MAYBE BLUETOOTH CAPABILITY WOULD BE GOOD THOUGH.
  1. O2 have also had some more ideas about improvements, would any of these be useful?
a. Traffic. We are considering adding extra functionality which would provide text showing real time traffic incidents, accidents, traffic jams for their region. What?s the view on this ?
THAT WOULD BE VERY USEFUL. MY HUSBAND USES THE TRAFFIC FEATURE BUT THEN ENDS UP RINGING TRAFFICLINE FOR MORE DETAILS!
b. News and Sport ? we are considering adding a video news/sports news roundup. Would they use these apps more if they had this functionality? IM SURE MY HUSBAND WOULD LIKE THIS FEATURE!
c. On portability we are specifically considering a docking station and the Joggler screen would have about a 4 hour battery life before it needed charging. Are there any issues with this? Will the screen get lost in the home? Do the benefits outweigh any disadvantages?
DEFINATELY THIS WOULD MAKE THE JOGGLER MUCH MORE APPEALING. BEING RESTRICTED WITH ITS MOBILITY IS A MASSIVE ISSUE IN MY HOME. WILL WE GET A DOCKING STATION FREE??????
d. Calendar on the mobile:
· Do you use a calendar on your mobile currently? NO
· Do you use it to manage your own events, or do you also use it to manage events for other people in your family? N/A
· Would you like to be able to see your O2 Calendar on your mobile? THAT WOULD BE VERY USEFUL AS MY JOGGLER IS STARTING TO TAKE OVER FROM MY ORGANISED MUM DIARY I KEEP IN MY BAG AND AS I NOW FORGET TO PUT STUFF IN THE OM DIARY I CAN SEE DOUBLE BOOKINGS OCCURING! LOL WOULD BE GOOD TO SEE IT FROM MY MOBILE.
· Would you expect to be able to just view events or also add new ones? ADD AND VIEW WOULD BE GOOD BUT VIEWING MORE IMPORTANT AS COULD ADD EVENT WHEN I GOT HOME.
e.
Watch again TV - would you like to be able to watch TV on you Joggler for example on iPlayer? Would you be interested in being able to stream programmes from their main TV to the Joggler? When/why would you use this?
NO WE HAVE 2 LAPTOPS SO WOULD NOT USE THE JOGGLER FOR THIS.
Part 3: Wash up: Questions from last time that haven?t been answered/ asked
  1. Back up information
· You mentioned that you wanted reassurances that your O2 Calendar information is backed up. O2 automatically backs up the accounts. Is it sufficient to know that it is automatically backed up for you, or do you also want to be able to store a back up copy of your account somewhere else, like on your PC?
BACK UP COPY ON OWN PC WOULD BE HELPFUL AND ENSURE SECURITY.
IM SORRY I DIDNT MAKE THE WEB CHAT, DID TRY BUT FAILED MISERABLY!
Haribosmummy · 01/07/2009 20:27
Comments from me:
Part 1: Getting a sense of how it is working in family life.
  1. Two weeks in, is the O2 Joggler having a positive impact on your family life? Why/why not? Absolutely, I love it. it's great for co-ordinating diaries and I love the quick access to news, weather and traffic.
  2. What are the three things on it that you are using the most? Diary, weather and traffic.
Part 2: Refining what you want next/what is most important to you from the Joggler and Calendar
  1. What are the three things you?d like it to do that it doesn?t currently? To do list, Be able to add events to the diary from my mobile, to save a list of any previously entered events so I can choose them from a list (a bit like the list of addresses a sat nav stores)
a. O2 know Calendar syncing is one ? what do you mean by this i.e.
  1. Do you want to synchronise your/your family?s personal calendar (i.e. outlook) with the whole of your O2 Calendar?
  1. Do you want to synchronise selected events from your personal calendar with your family on your O2 Calendar?
  1. Or do you just want to be able to invite your O2 calendar from other calendars I.e. outlook & visa versa?
Option 1 for me please.
b. Do you use/ see the benefit in streaming music photos and video from the home pc or laptop directly to the Joggler? I'm sure it is useful, but it's not something we've found particularily useful. We have i-pod speakers in most rooms (or sound system) so it's not something we find useful.
  1. O2 have also had some more ideas about improvements, would any of these be useful?
a. Traffic. We are considering adding extra functionality which would provide text showing real time traffic incidents, accidents, traffic jams for their region. What?s the view on this ? I would find this useful. I'd particularily like to be able to store particular routes (work commutes / school runs etc) and be notified of any problems.
b. News and Sport ? we are considering adding a video news/sports news roundup. Would they use these apps more if they had this functionality? personally, no. I like the quick round up of headlines. That's what I want to see, quickly, when I look at the joggler.
c. On portability we are specifically considering a docking station and the Joggler screen would have about a 4 hour battery life before it needed charging. Are there any issues with this? Will the screen get lost in the home? Do the benefits outweigh any disadvantages? Hmm... I would have said a docking station would be a real advantage at first - but one of the things we like most is the fact it's always in the same place so we know wher to check it. If it was sync'ed with my mobile, then I think there is no need to add a docking station.
d. Calendar on the mobile:
· Do you use a calendar on your mobile currently? Yes
· Do you use it to manage your own events, or do you also use it to manage events for other people in your family? Mainly, just mine.
· Would you like to be able to see your O2 Calendar on your mobile? Yes
· Would you expect to be able to just view events or also add new ones? add as well as view.
e. Watch again TV - would you like to be able to watch TV on you Joggler for example on iPlayer? Would you be interested in being able to stream programmes from their main TV to the Joggler? When/why would you use this? This is not something I would find useful and would not really use.
Sorry, couldn't join the webchat - one suggestion I'd make is that the product testers have a webchat when those of us who are out of the home working can actually access it!
I'm not back in from work until late tomorrow night, after which I'll have a look at the questions we were sent as I'd like to contribute.
OMG OMG OMG - I have just looked at the Joggler and it is totally blank. No events, nothing. Dear god, they had better not have lost all my data. Am going to try and call them now.
