Baked using our OGGS® Aquafaba, an all-plant liquid egg substitute made from chickpea water, they are vegan friendly and ethical from plant to plate. And at less than 99kcal each and made with less sugar, you don’t have to feel so guilty about scoffing a whole box!”

Testers, please give your feedback by answering the following set of questions, as well as completing the short survey we’ve emailed to you.

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
DD didn’t like them, she found the frosting greasy and too sweet
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Before trying them I would have bought them for buffet or picnic, since trying them I wouldn’t buy them
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
Apart from the fact that they are vegan friendly there’s nothing really stand out about them
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
No. We really didn’t enjoy these cakes. The sickly greasiness of the frosting and the strange artificial aftertaste of the cake itself made for a very disappointing trial for us
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
No. We only ate 2 cakes out of the 2 packs we were sent. If I had bought them I’d have been really disappointed in them

Thank you for the opportunity of trying them

Horses4 · 01/09/2019 16:11

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes? My (lactose intolerant ) 9yo thought they were delicious. I thought they were tasty as an afternoon snack, but the icing was intensely sweet. It's great to have additions to vegan / dairy intolerant snacking though. I don't think many people could distinguish that they were vegan if they didn't know.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for? Occasional snacking. Parties.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands? Cheerful, modern packaging, good for vegans or dietary issues.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Tasty cakes with a difference. Enjoyable treats for dairy avoiders.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? Yes. We are huge fans of the Oggs lemon cake and chocolate fudge individual cakes. I would probably go for those over the mini cupcakes, to be honest, but I wouldn't object to having these again.

NerrSnerr · 01/09/2019 19:12

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
My children mainly just ate the icing but that's usual for them. They likes the taste though.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Parties if it suited dietary requirements

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
Looked nice.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes

alittlepieceofme · 01/09/2019 21:15

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

My ds and his cousins really enjoyed the cupcakes! My sister and I liked them, however, we both felt that there was a strong aftertaste that we weren't keen on!

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
They were great for the play date with my ds and his cousins, perfect size for them!

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

I liked the packaging and the cakes looked good! Very appealing to the children! I liked that they were vegan, you would never know!
I don't think anything made
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Yes, I would certainly recommend these to my vegan friends and anyone with an intolerance.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Yes, I would certainly consider them

WhenDoISleep · 01/09/2019 22:23

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

DH and I thought they were very sweet, but not as dry as other vegan cakes we have tried in the past. The DC like them.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

I probably wouldn't by them.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

Not as dry as other vegan cake options.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

I would recommend as an option to someone looking specifically for vegan cupcakes.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Probably not.

lorka · 02/09/2019 09:13

Thanks for letting us test the OGGS cupcakes. Smile

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
My children and I liked them - they disappeared pretty fast. However my mum, who has an egg allergy, thought they tasted a bit artificial.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
For a party or as a treat if someone with an egg allergy/vegan was attending. I thought they looked quite pretty for a special occasion.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They are egg fee and vegan which is great. My mum finds it quite difficult to find egg free alternatives in her local supermarket.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
I would recommend to anyone who has an egg allergy or is vegan.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
I probably would only buy if I was catering for someone with an egg allergy. I thought that they are quite expensive to be bought regularly and they did have a lot of unnecessary packaging.

fizzicles · 02/09/2019 15:36

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
The kids enjoyed them, I thought the aftertaste was a bit funny. Slightly too sweet.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for? If we were having a party and had vegan friends or those with dairy/egg allergies coming
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
Focus on vegan/dairy free, sustainable packaging
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes - to friends who can’t/don’t eat eggs/dairy - they were nice to eat
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Probably will for parties, although the price seems fairly high. I read about the aquafaba, although would be unlikely to buy that as I could just use chickpea water from canned chickpeas

Metempsychosis · 02/09/2019 18:36

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
My sweet-toothed daughter liked the cakes but she's a buttercream fiend: she'll eat it in huge quanities but only if it's the real thing, so she was disappointed that it wasn't buttery enough. I'm not that fussed about buttercream so the vegan substitute seemed fine to me. We both thought the cake was perfectly nice.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Party where I knew there would be vegan/dairy or egg allergic children present, or treat for vegan/allergic guests

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
It's a reliably tasty vegan brand.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
I'd say that it tastes quite nice, and isn't the disappointment that you might fear from vegan substitutes, so it's a safe choice if you want a normal-looking birthday treat that you can buy as part of your mainstream shop without making a special visit to a specialist shop. ("normal-looking" because sometimes children on special diets don't want to stand out too much and just want to be like their friends)

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
If I need vegan/egg-free baked goods for some reason I'll remember that these are a decent choice. I cook a good butter-free cake with oil, and I can do egg-free brownies, but I can't manage the combination of the two.

BabyMoonPie · 02/09/2019 20:44

DH liked the whole cakes. DD ate the buttercream and left half the cake. I thought the buttercream had a synthetic aftertaste.

I'd buy the cakes if I knew I had vegan guests at a party.

I've never bought vegan cake so don't know what makes it different to other brands. The packaging was nice and the cakes are cute so the product is appealing.

I'd recommend people try the cupcakes as the cake was lovely, I just wasn't keen on the buttercream. Everyone's different though and the other members of my house liked it.

I would purchase the cakes for vegan guests. I wouldn't switch from non vegan tastes due to my dislike of the buttercream.

Thanks for including me, it's good to try something different

Whyisitsodifficult · 02/09/2019 23:08

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
I didn’t like the taste but my husband and kids did.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I probably wouldn’t.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
I can’t say I’ve taken much notice of vegan cake brands.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
I guess if a friend asked me for a vegan cake brand I’d suggest them but not recommend as I personally didn’t like them.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Not these particular cakes. However I do like the idea of using chickpea water, but found these too sweet.

darceybussell · 03/09/2019 00:57

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

Pretty good considering they're flour, egg and dairy free!

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Probably only if someone who was vegan or had allergies was coming. They're quite expensive otherwise.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

Haven't tried other free from brands but they were probably tastier than bog standard supermarket cakes.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Probably if they needed them for a restricted diet.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Perhaps not due to the price.

Angelesque · 03/09/2019 07:14

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

We had the chance to test with DS’ cousins, one of whom (age 5) is recently removing lactose from her diet. The children all loved the cakes - thought they were attractive and tasty. The adults thought they tasted fine.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Children’s party - good for any unexpected dietary needs

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

They don’t look “free from” - they were decorated nicely

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

I would recommend only if there is a dietary need - if no need for dairy free, other cakes would taste fresher

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Only if there is a dietary requirement to do so

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 03/09/2019 10:01

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
We both liked them, my son liked them more than me though.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Probably as an after-school snack

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They still taste sweet despite being a lower-sugar brand - most of the time you can tell low sugar alternatives a mile off but I was impressed with these.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
I'm not sure - as a product they are very good but the price is a little high.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
At a lower price perhaps - £4.25 for 9 tint cakes is a bit steep.

PineappleIceCream · 03/09/2019 10:13

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

Both DS and myself liked the cakes, he did say he found them a bit sickly though. I liked the vanilla taste and the crunchy sprinkles on top.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Birthdays, School cakes sales, for a treat etc.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

There aren't many egg free, dairy free cakes around and the ones that are available are usually chocolate which my son doesn't like.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Yes I would maybe mention them to people but I do think that they really should be made in a factory that is safe for people with allergies to egg/dairy/nuts as it is a bit of a risk for people with allergies to eat these. The cakes would have a wider appeal if this was the case.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Possibly, I like the taste and that fact they are egg and dairy free but as above I think the fact they are made in a factory with other allergens would put me off. Also, the price is pretty high, although I do appreciate that most 'free from' food pricing is higher than regular food.

chickensandbees · 03/09/2019 11:05

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
We liked them on the whole, they were nice and creamy texture but a bit bland in flavour

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
For a children's party and to cater for vegan guests

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They are vegan but look like normal cakes.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes, especially if they were looking for vegan or diary free cakes.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Maybe for a party or for a school cake sale. It would also depend on the price as often free from ranges are quite expensive.

TinyMystery · 03/09/2019 12:26

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
I found them quite sweet and a bit over vanilla flavoured. DS had one and loved it (he’s one). DH liked the taste but wasn’t keen on the texture.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I would buy them for parties or events where I knew vegans or allergy sufferers would be attending.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
Nice to see a vegan cake that isn’t trying to be a healthy ‘whole food’ type thing. Better texture than a lot of vegan cakes.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes if they had allergies or were vegan. I don’t think they are good enough to replace non-vegan cupcakes though.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes if at a lower price or for a special event.

GloriaHotcakes · 03/09/2019 18:02

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

We thought they had a strange aftertaste and were quite oily.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

If we had a vegan coming to tea, which we do sometimes

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

They look really appetising and I love the clear labelling

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Yes to a vegan or someone looking for dairy free. They aren't as good as my usual cupcakes but they aren't a bad alternative at all.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Quite possibly - much easier than making my own vegan ones and are a good option to have in the cupboard as they have a long shelf life too.

RomaineCalm · 03/09/2019 21:01

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to try these.

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

We all liked them, was surprised to read that others thought that there was an aftertaste as we didn't notice it. Didn't find them as sweet as other shop-bought cupcakes.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Possibly if DC had a group of friends round. The smaller size makes them feel like a snack/treat for smaller children but can't help thinking that teens would happily demolish the lot.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

Nice packaging and obviously that they're vegan unlike many others. I do like to support smaller brands.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

I have a friend with an egg allergy and would recommend to them.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Possibly if they were on offer but probably not on a regular basis.

SerenaVanDerWoodsen · 03/09/2019 22:11

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
Overall we liked them. They looked attractive, both the cakes and the packaging. The DC were particularly excited to try them, whereas DH thought they were too small (but he does have a rather sweet tooth!).
The cake itself was very nice. It was a good texture, moist and tasted like a ‘normal’ cake to us. However DH, DD1 and I all thought the icing had a slightly odd taste and a strong aftertaste. I think there was possibly too much vanilla, which was a shame. DD2 (5) didn’t seem to notice. Which is good as she’s the one with a dairy intolerance.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I would buy them for DD2 or if needing to cater for others with dietary restrictions eg for a children’s birthday party. I would consider buying other options from your range for adults (as these mini ones are a bit small for adults). I wouldn’t buy them if I didn’t have the need to due to special dietary requirements though.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
I think there are very few brands which sell decent tasting ‘free from’ cakes. I usually end up baking my own for DD as the shop bought ones are generally horrible.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes I would for people with allergies, intolerances or dietary choices eg vegan.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes as DD liked them and they could be taken along to parties so she doesn’t miss out on treats

sherbetmelon · 04/09/2019 08:48

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
We liked them, they were very sweet but a good size.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
If I needed to cater for someone with special dietary requirements

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They cater to people with allergies/vegan diets

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Only if they were looking for a similar product. The price is very high and we weren’t wowed.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
No, they are too expensive compared to others on the market.
I might if I needed to cater for specific dietary requirements and the price was better.

Jammiebammie · 04/09/2019 17:33

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
To be honest, I really didn’t like them much and found they left a strange aftertaste (sorry!) One dd and my dh liked them though.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I would possibly buy them as a vegan alternative for a children’s party, if I didn’t have time to make my own or look for others.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
The egg substitute is definitely different and not something I’d come across before. They seemed more appealing to children with the colours, packaging and size too.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes if they specifically wanted small colourful egg free mini cupcakes.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
No, simply as I didn’t like the taste and I do think the price is too high. The fact they are produced in a factory that handles egg and dairy does kind of put me off if someone has an allergy too.

DidIMissSomething · 04/09/2019 22:07

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
We thought they were ok but DD thought cake a bit dry and would've liked a stronger vanilla flavor. DH thought fine for shop bought but only ate one (he would usually have more!) I thought they had a weird aftertaste and cake texture not great. On reflection it's the aquafaba flavour.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I wouldn't - I'd make something instead or buy another alternative.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
Eye catching branding but very gimmicky.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
No - weird taste - I think there are better products available.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Probably not - didn't like the taste and that's really the whole point!

Also thought they were really expensive for what they are - very small processed looking cupcakes.

ThreeFish · 04/09/2019 22:37

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

Children liked them, my friend didn’t like the after taste, and athlete DH liked the taste and the size as a bite sized treat.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Catering for vegans probably

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

They taste more like “normal” cake than other vegan cakes which can be very dry.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Yes, I have done. She’s vegan.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Depends on the price point. They are very small. One bite really.

Thanks for the opportunity to test.

SherbertDip · 05/09/2019 10:45

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

My children really liked the cupcakes, they both liked the taste

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

I would use them for a party or maybe a picnic

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

I think.these taste nicer, not at all dry like some other we have tried in the past

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

I would as I said they were nicer than the alternative one we have tried before

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

I maybe would as we all enjoyed them

Floralnomad · 05/09/2019 22:25

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
We all thought that the icing was overly sweet and that the sponge itself had very little flavour
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I might purchase them if I had vegan friends to an afternoon tea
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
Primarily the price !
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Probably not , we didn’t find them pleasant to eat
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
I wouldn’t purchase these particular cakes but I wouldn’t write off an entire brand on that basis .
