Also forgot to add, we found them difficult to get out of the packaging without mushing them.

EvilHerbivore · 27/08/2019 14:39

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

Both DSs liked them although DS1 said that he wasn't sure about the aftertaste if the icing
I took them to work too (work with families) where they went down well
Colleagues liked that they were only 100 calories and my vegan colleagues liked that it was something fairly 'normal' looking that was vegan

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

DS2 has a dairy allergic friend so if she comes over or for a Jacobs join type thing with vegan friends

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

Not sure that they do tbh - out of the packaging there's nothing about them that looks particularly different/exciting although tbh I think that's a good thing

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Only if someone was looking for an allergy/lifestyle friendly alternative

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Probably but only for specific people - nearly a fiver for some tiny cupcakes is a bit much to be spending regularly

starlingsintheslipstream · 27/08/2019 14:45

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

Mixed reviews. Me and dd didn't like them and thought the aftertaste was horrid. Ds2 didn't care for them. Ds1 ate them and said he liked them but we still have a few left in the packet and that's pretty unusual in our house so I think he can take them or leave them too.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Only if I was hosting vegans at short notice and hadn't had time to make anything.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

I'm not really aware of any vegan sweet ranges in the supermarkets so that is quite different.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

No. I didn't think they tasted nice at all.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

No. They are quite expensive and did not live up to expectations. I didn't like the lengthy list of ingredients. They don't seem very natural, though that could be said for any off-the-shelf cakes I suppose.

Thanks for the chance to test them though.

hadwebutworldenoughandtime · 27/08/2019 15:33

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

The cupcakes happened to arrive on a day when my daughter had three friends to stay so I had a biggish group to test them on. All the children liked them and two adults also enjoyed them. Comments were made on the fluffy texture and how pretty they were. One of the girls is dairy free as well so they were suitable for her too. I don't think I would have noticed they were vegan unless I had known in advance.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Possibly a birthday tea. But generally make rather than buy cake and don't serve cake often.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

They had a particularly nice appearance and would fit in well with other brands.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why

I would if they were vegan or dairy free as sometimes there is no time to make everything from scratch and it is nice to have a product that is suitable for everyone.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Possibly although I don't eat a lot of sweet food, may buy for the children as when her dairy free friend comes round I like to serve everyone the same thing rather than have 'special' things for just one.

Sorry about the weird font sizes!

Bert2e · 27/08/2019 16:15

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
None of us liked them much, they were overly sweet with no real vanilla flavour and the icing tasted very margerine - ey. They were very moist though.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
If I needed vegan cakes - dairy free isn't a problem for me to make but I've never done egg free
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
I've got no idea as I've never tried a comparable product before
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Not unless they couldn't bake and needed vegan / dairy free cake due to poor flavour
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Not at over £4 a box!

I'd also like to say that the y were very poorly packaged and after being bounced around in the post none of the icing was on top of the cakes. The plastic inner isn't recyclable in my area and the cakes were hard to extract from the tray.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 27/08/2019 16:19

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
We all liked them. We don't often have cake so it was seen as a real treat.
They were the perfect size for my DC (4 & 6) but too small for me! (I had 3 as a serving!!!) Blush

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Maybe birthday/ other celebration parties - they would be ideal for a buffet spread.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
I guess the vegan / egg / dairy free ingredients. Though I imagine other brands do this too.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Maybe if they were on a special diet. Otherwise probably not as they are expensive for what they are.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
I don't think so, they're too expensive.

Thanks for letting us try them!

gin33333 · 27/08/2019 17:01

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
I thought they were quite tasty i was very suprised how nice they tasted soft spongy texture and the vanilla frosting was nice too
my son loved these ate a bit too many he didnt think they were egg free as they tasted so good he mentioned they tasted better than shop bought cupcakes loved the soft texture too

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

As a treat for after tea or even i would just purchase them just to eat for breakfast with coffee

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

They taste slightly different and better and taste fresh too as if you have baked them with supermarket brands they tend to be heavy and dont taste too good

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Yes i would so they can try them as i think they are worth buying as they are tasty even if they are egg free and dairy free

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

I would try them again in the future also my son mentioned if you can buy them anywhere as he would love to try them again we enjoyed testing them

BlackCatFan · 27/08/2019 17:10

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
I thought they tasted amazing. Like a cake made with dairy, I even had to double check that they were in fact dairy free. I thought the buttercream was beautiful. Definitely my favourite vegan cake so far.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I think they would be good for a children's party due to their size, but I would purchase them just to keep in the fridge for nibbling.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They are unique, I have not spotted another brand producing dairy free sponge cakes.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes I would, I would recommend them to my vegan friends especially.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Yes!!

Toddlerteaplease · 27/08/2019 17:32

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
I liked them, as did the others who tried them. I thought the icing has a slightly odd taste and after taste. The sponge was nice.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
If I had Vegan guests. I'd possibly take them to work.
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
I liked the packaging, and the name.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes definitely to vegan friends. The vegans gave them too loved them.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes.

chorusline79 · 27/08/2019 17:42

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

I didn’t like the flavour. The cake flavour was ok, a bit bland and dry though but the icing had a funny taste to me. My son liked them but my daughter didn’t eat hers and said she didn’t like it.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
They would be good for kids parties/ play dates especially as they are small. My nephew is dairy intolerant so I might these for him when visiting so he could have a cake.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

Dairy free. They are more appealing to kids possibly than other dairy free brands as they look like ‘normal’ party style cakes.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Not these particular cakes as I didn’t like them.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

I might try another product, especially if i had friends with dairy free child, or my vegan friends coming to visit.

StandUnderMyUmbrella · 27/08/2019 17:43

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

I really liked the taste, thought they were yummy! My daughter preferred the icing/topping but shes not a huge fan of sponge anyway!

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

I would purchase for a party at home or a gathering at home and maybe a picnic.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

They seemed unique and really tasty. The size is different and they seemed expensive, not cheap and bland.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

I would recommend if they were looking for a dairy free type item.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

I might purchase as the size seems guilt free but they are rather expensive considering the size and quantity.

torthecatlady · 27/08/2019 17:48

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
All of us really enjoyed them. Not as good as homemade, but then I find that with regularly dairy cupcakes anyway.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Parties and functions where certain guests have allergies or dietary requirements.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
Well, I've never seen vegan cupcakes for sale in a supermarket, especially mini ones. I've seen a traybake or two before but they're pretty basic. These are appealing to look at and to eat.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes, I would definitely recommend these to our vegan friends. Really convenient to be able to grab these while doing the weekly shop. They also have quite a good shelf life.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes! I've already been eyeing up the different flavours available!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 27/08/2019 17:49

Firstly I had an email advising delayed delivery until today little did I know my missed delivery fri was these sat at the sorting office collected them this morning they certainly dont travel well we licked the icing out the packet :)

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

4yr old loved them rarely has cake due to uncooked dairy intolerance but will be fine with these. 9yr old not so keen. I like them but v messy couldn't take in a lunch box.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

For an allergy

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

The vegan dairy free egg free labelling although many products are both they just dont target that market specifically

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

If they had an allergy

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

At that price for 9 mouthfuls of cake highly unlikely.

MilkyMamma · 27/08/2019 17:59

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
DH and I liked them, he is quite picky and was very enthusiastic about them. He was shocked when I told him they were DF/EF. I did notice a strong aftertaste that others have mentioned but they were still nice.
Children liked them and we’re very excited to try one based on looks alone. They really enjoyed them and wanted more! (2 and 5)

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
If I had to cater for vegans.
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They looked nice, the packaging was eye catching.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Only if they needed vegan cakes or were on a DF/EF diet.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Not unless I needed to cater for vegans, I was shocked at the price.

fingersandthumbs · 27/08/2019 18:19

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?*

We found the cupcakes smaller than the cupcakes in the multi packs that we currently buy but we all thought that the sponge was light and tasty and didn't notice any difference in taste. However, we all found the icing to be very heavy, cloying and stuck to the inside of our mouths. It was very hot over the weekend and the icing had started to slip over the tops of the cupcakes and this seemed to exacerbate the oiliness. The adults seemed to notice this more than the children.

We had visitors over the weekend who are vegan and it was nice to be able to offer them something that the rest of the family also enjoyed.

My god daughter (3) has a dairy allergy and again being able to offer her something that was the same as the other children were eating made a pleasant change.

At less than 100 calories a cake those on low cal diets were able to treat themselves

Just a small comment on the packaging - the plastic cups that the cakes sit in are very deep which means that it can make it difficult to get the cakes out of the packaging without disturbing the icing on top of the cake. Could the bottom tray be a little less deep?

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Kids birthday parties nd special occasions

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
Vegan and dairy free - but importantly for my family, impossible to tell on taste and flavour that they were vegan products

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes to those needing to cater for vegetarians and vegans and dairy allergies. If you could make these gluten free as well then I think you would have hot the "holy grail" of cup cakes

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes, but only occassionally as a special treat. The price works out to around 50p a cake. Compare that to the 12 I can but for 99p and the economics don't justify these other than on special occasions

Kitsandkids · 27/08/2019 18:31

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

My two year old loved them and asked for more straightaway. My 2 older (10 and 11) boys also liked them but I think they were a bit small for their age group. Perfect for toddler parties and the like though. My husband liked them, as did I, but I noticed a slightly ‘tingly’ aftertaste to them which I wasn’t keen on.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Toddler parties or play dates if I know there might be vegan or dairy free children present.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

The fact that they’re vegan, the fact that they look very child friendly, the packaging that means you can see exactly what the cakes look like.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

I would if they needed to cater for dairy free diets or were looking for little cupcakes for toddlers.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Possibly if I have dairy free visitors or if they’re on special offer as my children did enjoy them.

BeverlyGoldbergsHairAndJumpers · 27/08/2019 18:33

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

We all loved the taste. I didn’t find them too sweet at all. The icing is lush - there’s just the right amount. I wouldn’t guess it was egg free at all, just thought they tasted delicious and fresh. I gave one to my younger children and they all approved. My teenagers asked for another one . . . Then another one . . . Grin
We all like the sprinkles on the top too. Nice pastel colours and not too bright.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Parties and when friends are over, also I would buy a packet for packed lunches.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

The packaging is designed well, they look more ‘home made’ than supermarket ones.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Yes I would do, they are in recycled/recyclable packing which was good to see. They are ideal for people on calorie controlled diets and also egg free/vegans.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Yes definitely. They taste yummy and they would be great for packed lunches (I could put one in) and for a dessert after the evening meal (they could have two).

Ashhead24 · 27/08/2019 18:50

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
We had them at a childrens birthday party where there were a number of allergy sufferers. They were well received by the allergy sufferers and other children and adults. Feedback was they were delicious
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
An event such as a party where there would be allergy sufferers or vegans. As a treat for my DN who has a milk allergy.
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They were fun. All the other cakes I could find were dull for children but these looked brilliant and were a great alternative sweet option.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes and we have done. As said above because they were fun looking and great for kids who seem to be under catered for in the free from market.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes but only occasionally as the price point was a little steep for a regular treat.

Someaddedsugar · 27/08/2019 18:52

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
We all really enjoyed them and couldn't tell that they were egg free which was nice as occasionally egg free products have had quite a dry texture.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I think these are great for all occasions - a little treat on an afternoon after tea or lunch, a birthday party or similar celebration or even just because!

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
The taste and texture.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes, because they're an easy to purchase alternative to cakes made with potential allergens.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes definitely!

zigzagbetty · 27/08/2019 19:23

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes? they liked the taste, shared them out at a picnic and all the children liked them. I thought they were very sweet but as they were small it was fine
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
probably for a party or picnic with others to meet all dietary requirements. If the price was right I would buy as treats for my child at home
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands? the packaging was bright and it looked like a high quality product. It was attractive to kids which most dietary products aren't.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that? I would recommend as the cake tasted good and was like a "normal" cake. The texture was good and I loved the sprinkles. A great treat for egg free children and vegan diet
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? yes if the price is right. My niece has a egg allergy so they will be great to get in for her

MadameJosephine · 27/08/2019 19:29

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

We weren’t keen. The cake itself was ok, nothing special but the icing was very artificial tasting, not pleasant at all. DD would only eat them if I scraped the topping off

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

I wouldn’t buy them at all

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

The reassurance of dairy and egg free for those who have allergies or who follow a plant based diet

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

No, we didn’t like them

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

No

Startoftheyear2019 · 27/08/2019 19:53

Thanks for sending me the cupcakes, here’s my feedback:
What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes? We liked them but found the topping very sweet. Would be good to have flavoured icing.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for? Definitely for children’s birthday parties and when I have friends who come round who have allergies or intolerances.
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands? They are very tasty, low calorie and great for people who are dairy free or have other intolerances.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that? Definitely, they taste great and it’s fantastic to get so many in one pack, so they’re easy to share. Other supermarket brands are usually larger in size (and so more calories).
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? Yes

fourmonthstogo · 27/08/2019 20:09

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
My cake loving son really enjoyed them and both children clamoured for more. My daughter finds a lot of icing on shop bought cakes unpleasant but she liked this. I thought that they had a noticeable aftertaste, albeit not necessarily unpleasant.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
If I had dietary requirements at a party.
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
Ethical, suitable for egg free and vegans. I really liked the small size.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
If looking for a vegan friendly offering, yes.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Probably not at that price point, and we also usually make our own cakes.

MunchyMunchkin · 27/08/2019 20:17

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
Me and DH liked them and couldn’t tell a difference from normal cake. Nice and light.
DD absolutely loved them and one was the perfect size for her. That’s quite a compliment as she is very fussy about cake.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for? Birthday party as an allergy friendly option
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands? Free from and all recyclable packaging which I really liked.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that? If they needed free from or vegan products.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? Yes for the reasons stated above but not a regular purchase.

Ribeebie · 27/08/2019 20:21

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

We enjoyed them. They were moist and tasty and pleasantly surprised.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

A treat, birthday parties, afternoon tea.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

That they are egg free.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Yes I would. They were actually really nice to eat. So I'd consider egg free baking now whereas I hadn't before.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Yes I would probably but I think these are a bit expensive
