What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
So we enjoyed the cakes but we all thought they were a little too sweet unfortunately. However vanilla aroma and flavour present. Good cake texture, I wouldn't know they were egg free or dairy free.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I would purchase them for when I have my friends over who cannot have dairy, eggs or are vegetarian/vegan. Great new treat I can actually pick up instead of scratching my head as to what cake products I can give them.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
I think the soft texture. The cakes are not crumbly nor dry whereas supermarket cakes sometimes especially free from I find rather lacking.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes I actually have some dairy free friends and vegan who I think will love to have these as a treat.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes when I need to for my friends and family with the relevant dietary requirements.

Intotheclouds · 29/08/2019 12:26

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
The children said they liked them but when i offered them another they refused which they don't normally do.
Myself and my husband didn't like them at all. The cake had a weird taste and the icing was way to sweet as if they were trying to cover up the taste of the actual cake.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
For parties when I know someone with allergies is coming.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They are decorative. Most 'free from' foods are plain and bland looking.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Only if they have allergies or food intolerances.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Not for personal consumption but I might for a party where people with allergies/intolerances may be coming too.

charlie7 · 29/08/2019 12:33

My children really liked these, though I thought they were a bit sweet.
I might buy them again but they're a bit expensive at the moment.
Great for when you have birthday parties and people have allergies.
They are different to others in that they look like normal cakes yet are very clearly good for people with allergies.

Dorsetcamping · 29/08/2019 13:02

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

Myself and DH thought they were overly/artificially sweet made worse by the sprinkles. DC thought they were 'ok'
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Wouldn't choose to buy them but if f I were it would be as an occasional treat.
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
I guess being vegan makes them different to majority of other cakes
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
No, lacked flavour and far too sweet
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Wouldn't but these cakes but make consider other OGGS products

pancaketits · 29/08/2019 13:16

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes? Delicious! The icing was really creamy.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for? Birthdays, as a special treat.
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands? Although vegan, they still taste like a proper cake.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that? I have! They’re a sensible size for a treat for a child.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? Yes.

silverliningsa · 29/08/2019 13:54

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
We all loved them, including toddlers

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
A special occasion/ party, probably where vegan guests were attending, but if the price were to match other non vegan products I would pick them
regardless of vegans attending.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands? They’re vegan friendly

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that? Yes I would, I think they taste great and are packaged really nicely. I would recommend to both vegan and non vegan friends.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? Yes it’s likely I will

jobbymcginty · 29/08/2019 14:38

Hi we enjoyed the taste of the cake and the sponge . We felt the icing was a bit bland and would of been nicer if it had been flavoured with something like lemon juice.
They were used as alternate for my sons birthday and also as my other son has allergies we thought they might be a great alternative
They stood out as they were very kid friendly looking and there was no way you could tell nun looking at them they were vegan
Yes we would buy them again

sherbertlemon17 · 29/08/2019 15:54

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

My husband son and I liked them but my 3 year old didn’t like the taste of the icing.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Picnic or children’s party.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

I really like the packaging and like that it had its own unique egg substitute.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

I have to a family member who has an egg intolerance.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Yes. My daughter has an egg allergy and another family member with an intolerance so would buy for occasion when both are present.

goteam · 29/08/2019 16:46

What did you think of the taste?

Good if little too sweet. The small size is good as one is enough!

What occasions would you purchase OGGS mini vanilla cupcakes?

Kids' parties to cater for allergies, for myself (a vegan) for afternoon cup of tea

What makes OGGS different?

Presentation more like regular cakes, not dry or 'healthy' like lots of vegan cakes.

Would you recommend OGGS?

Yes, already have as they are a good alternative for special diets

Will you purchase OGGS in future?

Yes, definitely

InvernessAdventure · 29/08/2019 18:26

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

We were sent 18 cupcakes and have 13 left, so it would be fair to say we were underwhelmed. I was probably the least impressed - I thought they tasted over-sweet and had a metallic aftertaste. DH broadly agreed but ate a second one (though that's partly because they're so small!). Younger child thought they were 'yummy', older child thought they were 'just like any other cake', which isn't as backhanded as it sounds, because a lot of vegan alternatives taste funny or dry.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

Only if I had a vegan in the house (DS1 is vegetarian and his partner is vegan, so this could well arise). I was sufficiently unimpressed that I might try and find a vegan cake recipe of my own instead, though.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

Only the vegan aspect really. They were sugary, overdecorated and massively overpackaged, which pretty much makes them in other respects like every other supermarket cake imo.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Only if they were handwringing about needing a vegan product. Not otherwise.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

No, I don't think so. Being able to offer a vegan product has its attractions, but of the vegans we know, all are either trying to eat healthily, in which case all the E numbers are a bit of a problem, or are trying to eat sustainably, in which case the massive amount of plastic packaging overkill is a problem.

rupert23 · 29/08/2019 18:43

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
I thought they were nice not what we were expecting for a vegan cupcake.my daughter is vegan and was very happy to have found these that she enjoys
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I would buy them for my daughter's birthday as there are limited options and would buy them quite often in general
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They are vegan and taste nice all the family loved them
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Would recommend definitely and my daughter has already recommended them to some vegan friends of hers
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? Yes definately
Thanks for letting us do this trial we all enjoyed them

SageYourResoluteOracle · 29/08/2019 20:06

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes? The texture was lovely but there was a bit of an aftertaste that we couldn't quite put our finger on. That being said, DD, DH and I scoffed the first box because: cake!

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for? If I was catering for a children's party then I might consider buying a pack so as to cater for any vegan guests.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands? I'm not sure there is anything that could be called a USP & whilst the product is reducing some carbon footprint in terms of ingredients used, the amount of plastic in the packaging bothered me.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that? I probably wouldn't because the taste isn't as good as other vegan products I've tasted.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? Probably not, no. Sorry!

allthingsred · 30/08/2019 08:55

My dd (who is the one trying to adapt to a vegan diet) liked the taste of the cupcakes.
The rest of us liked the cake. But wasn't fans of the icing
I would buy these as a treat for my daughter. Probably as an alternative to if we were having cake/ sweet treat at party so she could still enjoy.
The fact the ingredients make them a suitable treat to people with food intolerance as well as vegans make them different also they look so much more fun than other free from or vegan options.
I would recommend them as both a vegan & free from option
& I would buy in future as long as my daughter is following that diet.
It's nice she doesn't get to miss out

EmLH · 30/08/2019 14:37

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

We thought they were okay. Not awfully bad but not particularly good either. I’m vegan and as a result have tried lots of vegan cakes. The texture of the sponge is quite light compared to most and better than the mini sandwich cakes in the same range which are quite dense. The icing is tasty and there’s not too much, which is a plus for me. However, on the whole the cakes taste fairly artificial and there’s a slight aftertaste of bitterness (common in vegan cakes due to extra raising agents so may be that?)

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

At a push, I might buy them for a party if I’ve not got time to make any, but I wouldn’t buy them for us at home.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

They’re vegan. The use of aquafaba. Allergy friendly.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

No. I think the whole range needs to taste more natural and less processed and long life. I don’t like the aftertaste and they don’t feel like something that is doing me any good by eating it.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

No, probably not. It’s nice to have an option and if there was one at a party that someone had bought for me I would probably eat it but I’d not buy them on a regular basis.

biffyboom · 30/08/2019 20:15

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
The 2 boxes of cupcakes were eaten at an alarming rate in our house!
I found my husband hiding in the kitchen eating them guilty on numerous occasions, I found my 2 year old on top of the table a few times trying to get in the boxes, and screaming when I wouldn't let her eat them for breakfast, crying because I wouldn't let her have 3 in a row.... my 5 year old is more fair, and asked when he wanted one, by telling me that he loves them. Although he did tell me quite frequently. All other available snacks of fruits, chocolate, crisps and a big chocolate cake covered in sweets were forgotten about for the few days the cupcakes lasted.
Personally, I thought the cakes were delicious, and I prefer them to regular cupcakes, especially the topping, which I usually leave most of, as I find it too sweet.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I would purchase the cupcakes as an afternoon treat for my family, or to take on picnics and days out, in place of regular cupcakes, as I much prefer the taste of OGGS. I would have them as a late night snack with my husband, especially if there are some more flavours.
I will be buying the cupcakes when we have vegan or vegetarian guests too, as I think the cupcakes would make a nice dessert after lunch.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
The quality of the sponge was definitely superior, in taste and texture.
The sponge was so moist and light, it didn't have a taste of preservatives, and tasted really fresh.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes definitely, I would recommend them because I thought they were delicious, and I think other people will like them too. Especially if it's someone I know with these dietry needs, often there is not a wide variety of products available at regular supermarkets as high in quality, so I would recommend they try them.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Absolutely, especially if we have vegan or vegetarian guests. These are so much better than anything I could bake to cater for them! And of course, I will be getting some for our own enjoyment.

Pieceofpurplesky · 30/08/2019 22:15

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
Very sweet

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

When my vegan family and friends come for tea
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They taste good and not artificial
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes, good quality vegan cakes
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes

lunar1 · 31/08/2019 08:47

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

My children really enjoyed them, my eldest is dairy free and sometimes products off the shelf can be very dry. These were lovely and moist, they had a proper cake texture unlike some vegan products on the market.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

I'd buy them for treats when I don't have time to bake. There are extremely expensive given that in most supermarkets you can get 12 cakes for £1. Unfortunately you do end up paying over the odds when your children have allergies and intolerances. Sometimes convenience over rules cost and it's worth it to not have DS1 feel excluded, I sometimes send things like this into school if there is a cake day etc as they don't cater for him really.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

The texture is superior to many dairy free products.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Yes, it's often difficult to find convenient products when your child has an intolerance so I often talk with other parents about suitable foods we have found.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Yes, if they are available easily either online or in my local supermarket.

Pyjamaface · 31/08/2019 16:11

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

DS liked them, I liked the actual cake but the buttercream tasted strange

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

For a party if there were vegans etc coming

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

They are vegan

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

No. Purely down to the price of them

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

No, again because of the price. Over £4 for 9 mini cupcakes is just not in my budget at all

DrDiva · 31/08/2019 19:00

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
DS loves them. DH and I weren’t so fond of them.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Treats, birthdays.
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They look nice, they are allergy friendly and very light - dairy free I find often a bit stodgy. These weren’t.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes, a good allergy friendly option.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Yes.

MapleSpice · 31/08/2019 19:43

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

I really liked them, although the frosting is very sweet it makes it easy to not eat them all in one go!! My husband thought the actual cake tasted slightly synthetic but it was nice for it to not be dry like other vegan cake.

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?

As a lunchbox snack or low calorie treat.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?

It's good that they're trying to add some vegan options that are severely lacking in most supermarkets.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?

Yes, the actual cupcakes were very nice as a vegan alternative but I couldn't recommend buying them full price.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?

Not at the RRP, that's far too expensive for a pack of nine mini cakes and it's just not worth it in my opinion. I would also prefer them to not be in such plastic-heavy packaging but it's the high price that puts me off.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 31/08/2019 21:06

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
Children loved them. They liked the icing and decoration in particular. DH and I thought they were too sweet.
Nobody thought they were as good as homemade cakes, but everyone said they looked better than the cakes I make because I’m rubbish at decorating
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
I’d buy them if they were in offer if I wasn’t going to have time to make cakes myself or if I wanted to serve a variety of different cakes for some reason.
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
They’re vegan and still look inviting and tasty.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
Yes. They’re vegan and tasty.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Possibly.

Beach11 · 31/08/2019 21:30

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes? We all thought they tasted very sweet (5 of us). 2 of us didn’t like the icing topping and removed it. The cakes were much more moist then I expected. 4/5 said they would eat the cakes again
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for? A special occasion such as a birthday or if knew had a guest with allergies
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands? The cakes are moist and suitable for just about everyone

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that? Yes I would to friends with children that have allergies and rarely get to eat cake.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? I would only buy them if I know a guest had allergies

greathat · 31/08/2019 22:31

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?
One child really liked them, the other didn't - said they tasted weird. Their friend who is egg and dairy allergic said they were delicious and the best cakes she's eaten. They tasted better than other egg/dairy free cake I've had, but I wasn't that keen, there was a weird after taste

What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
For birthday parties where children with egg/dairy allergies would be attending. They're pretty expensive, although the mother of allergic child said she'd be buying them and they are good value for cakes her daughter can eat

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
No concerns about animal welfare with their products.

Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
I'd recommend them to friends with kids that can't have egg and dairy based on the friends reaction to them.

Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Possibly when the friend is attending birthday parties - she's a close friend so I usually get an alternative to the birthday cake

sewonandsewon · 01/09/2019 07:50

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes?

I took these on a family holiday to let everyone try, and they really divided opinion. My husband and I liked them and thought they were moist and tasty - I did think there was a slight grainy texture though. My mum and sister really disliked them and felt they had an unpleasant chemical taste and were too sweet. My kids wolfed them down and enjoyed them - my 8 year old thought they looked pretty too.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for?
Children's party as an option for a vegan or child with egg intolerance.

What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands?
I'm not sure to be honest - they looked lovely and appealing and the packaging was stylish too. They are special enough to serve at a party without looking out of place.
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that?
If someone was looking for a vegan alternative to special occasion cake from the supermarket, yes I would, because they taste and look good.
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future?
Probably not as I think they are too expensive - I would be more like to make my own egg free option.

Thanks for letting us try these!

Goingovertosusanshouse · 01/09/2019 12:19

What did you/your children think of the taste of OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes? We liked them at first but the aftertaste was unpleasant.
What occasions would you purchase OGGS® mini vanilla cupcakes for? I wouldn’t
What makes OGGS® different from other supermarket brands? Pricier and smaller!
Would you recommend OGGS® to a friend and why is that? Only if they were vegan
Will you purchase OGGS® products in the future? No
