This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who tried and tested the new Nice by Nature ice lollies. Selected testers tried one of 3 flavors;

• Strawberry & Raspberry 100% Fruit Ice Lollies
• Mango & Banana 100% Fruit Ice Lollies
• Apple & Blackcurrant 100% Fruit Ice Lollies

This product test was open to all UK MNers who have at least one child. Selected testers received 1 pack of ice lollies to try out.

Please note these lollies are ONLY AVAILABLE in TESCO.

Here is what Nice By Nature have to say: “Hi there! We are Nice By Nature and we have created a new range of delicious fruit ice lollies! They are made from 100% fruit and absolutely nothing else! In fact our lollies always contain four ingredients or less – and by nature contain no added sugar and no nasties! Your kids might call them a snack or even a treat, but you can think of them as a fruit bowl in your freezer!”

I choose the strawberry and raspberry flavour.

Yes, probably the apple and blackcurrant. Although these weren’t available in my local Tesco’s. I didn’t like the sound of banana and mango.

• Overall, how satisfied were you and your family with the Nice by Nature ice lollies?

I enjoyed them. My kids were mixed. They are a great size for kids and the flavour was nice. My 3 year old loved her lolly my 6 year old wasn’t keen.
It was nice to know my kids were eating something with all natural ingredients and no nasties in it.

• What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies?

My 6 year old said she didn’t enjoy it but didn’t really give me a reason why, just that she didn’t like it. My 3 year old ate most of it and said it was lovely!

I think either, although they may not be ‘grown up’ enough for older children.

Yes, if they were looking for some natural fruit Ice lollies, definitely.

We were very satisfied. We all tried one and they went down well with all of us!

• What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies?

We all liked the flavour and consistency although when they first came out of the freezer they were very hard so I would leave them to defrost slightly. I liked that they had low calories and had no added sugar and my children were happy that I had no problems with them eating them!

• Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why?

I think older children because they are so hard when they come out of the freezer. Young children may get fed up before they can finish them. But I think they are OK for all ages really as this is a small issue.

• Would you recommend Nice by Nature ice lollies to your friends or family?

Yes I would. These are a healthy, refreshing alternative to other ice lollies and reassure me that I am not feeding my children junk food.

Generally satisfied - kids liked them. Thought they were a little on the small side.

They liked the flavour and they didn't melt too quickly. I liked the fact they are natural, without added nasties and seem like a healthier lolly option. Thought the packaging was nice.

Probably younger going by the size.

Yes - however they are quite expensive compared to other brands but i do like the fact they are natural

My son is 11 and he loved them. He does look for healthy options in the supermarket so had already chosen these previously

We'd been advised to go for the strawberry and raspberry ones in the email, but only the banana and mango ones were available in the two branches of Tesco nearest to us, so we went for those.

Yes, we'd give both other available flavours a try.

Hmm, bit of a tricky one as these didn't quite hit the 'treat' mark for us, maybe as there is an expectation when seeing an ice lolly, they would be a bit extra special or sweet.

• What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies?

Obviously, the fact these are healthy and basically fruit on a stick appealed to me. Toddler loves fruit, especially banana although he preferred the texture of it in its natural state rather than as a lolly. I had thought these would be really refreshing in the hot weather but again, I think because of the banana, these were more like very thick smoothies as opposed to juicy and 'melty'.

• Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why?

The size of these ice lollies are perfect for younger children.

• Would you recommend Nice by Nature ice lollies to your friends or family?

Yes I would because out of all three options, there would be at least one which appeals. If nothing else, they're a healthy guilt-free snack so no complaints here. Thank you for the opportunity to try these!

Great flavour and healthier than alternatives.

Yes as parents tend to be more health conscious the younger kids are and my older child now likes having more ‘adult’ options such as magnums and soleros. However he did enjoy these lollies as well.

They were nicw as a healthier treat! My daughter enjoyed them which was good as she can be quite fussy.

I thought they had a nice flavour they were abit thick tasting for me im not really into smoothies etc but they were a nice flavour and refreshing. My dd liked the flavour and texture!

I would say the 3-6 year olds would like them more they are a nice size for a treat and the flavours will appeal to them. The lollies are perfect size for them!

• What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies? I liked the flavour and the fact that they were a treat but a healthy one. My kids enjoyed the flavour combination.

• Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why? Younger because they are less likely to be influenced by adverts/images showing more additive & sugar-laden treats. Although my kids in both age groups enjoyed the ice lollies.

They liked the flavour. I liked the fact there was no added sugar. It was also nice to have a different option to offer them for pudding that still felt healthy.

I would say younger children as i think older children may be attracted to more well known brands.

Yes, my mum has already bought some after we told her about them.

Extremely satisfied for all the family, Great for my toddler and seven year old, as they are made from 100% fruit. Can't get better than that for a healthy sweet treat can you! Great for mum and dad, who are watching our calorie intake. 22Kcal!!!

• What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies?

We all loved the taste they are sweet and very refreshing on a hot summer day, I would say they taste like an iced smoothie. Love the fact there is no added sugar, and the fact that they don't melt as quickly as other iced lollies which is great for my toddler. There is absolutely nothing to dislike about these iced lollies.

• Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why?

In my experience they are suitable for both, as I have one in each age category and they were well received by both. However if my son ( my eldest child age 7) was left to choose, I am not sure these ice lollies would be his first choice. I am pretty sure he would go for the unhealthy ones as they are pretty much conditioned to do so by this age, due to many of the ice lollies or ice creams being based on their favourite sweets or chocolate bar. So I would say the target market is mum's and dads buying for the age 3-6 year age category and for themselves

Yes, they all sound delicious. I thought the blackcurrant taste was a little intense so would like to taste the others which I think I would prefer.

We liked that you got 6 in a pack and that they weren't messy as they melted slowly. I also liked that they had no added sugar which was good for the children and for me as I'm following Weight Watchers so these were ideal. They tasted a bit like frozen jam.

I think they would appeal more to younger children as they are quite small and less messy to eat. I also think they would appeal to adults as a healthy treat.

I bought the strawberry and raspberry lollies as they was only ones I could find, I’m very interested in trying them all. We was all satisfied with these nature lollies
We loved that these are all natural and perfect for thes hot summer days.
I think it appeals to everyone as it contains no sugar so perfect for little ones too.
I would 100% recommend these lollies to all my friends and family as they was yummy 😋

Strawberry and Raspberry. Good job as the first shop was sold out and the second shop only had this flavour in stock

No, I thought I would like the others but after tasting these I wouldn't.

• Overall, how satisfied were you and your family with the Nice by Nature ice lollies?

Packaging - outside - great - inside plastic - would be better with waxed paper or something else more sustainable. Although all other lollies I have seen have the same wrapper. Shape and size - good shape, seemed small but six in a box so smaller is understandable. Especially if marketed at younger children. Perfect size for them. Taste - none of us liked them. Texture - very hard when they come out of the freezer - not that soft texture of other lollies. This might be the low sugar content. By the time they melted a bit they were better. They seemed grainy. Like a frozen smoothie. Sold as strawberry and Raspberry flavour but only 20% or the lolly is this. So seems a mis-marketing thing. Should be Apple and banana flavour!

• What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies?

3 Children testing it were aged 9-12.
First said it tasted okay at first but then was horrible. Tasted and felt like someone had already chewed it then sicked it back up.
Second child said it tasted musty.
Third child - didn't particularly like it either and he is a complete fruit face.
The two adults tasting it didn't like it either.
I don't like banana flavour and only found out it containedbanana on trying it - should be apple and banana flavour as that is the predominant taste not strawberry or raspberry. There was only a faint wiff of these two flavours.

• Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why?

3-6 Younger children won't have developed such sweet pallets and would be happy with a lolly no matter what - they eat milka bars and they are rank!

• Would you recommend Nice by Nature ice lollies to your friends or family?

No. I was disappointed. I really wanted to like them. 100% fruit is a great idea. But the taste and texture was poor.

My children tested Mango and Banana flavour.

All my children would love to try multi pack with all flavour if available.

My children were very satisfied with Nice by Nature ice lollies.

My children loved the taste. I loved that it is healthy for them. So they can enjoy ice lollies without me feeling guilty about giving them Ive lollies cause I know this is good for them.

• Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why? I think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal for both children and adults as it is no Sugar and healthy. It’s suitable for everyone to enjoy.

Yes I would recommend to family and friends also buy in the future. Thank you for your time.

We used our vouchers to buy Strawberry and Raspberry but we bought the others also.
The children loved them. They were still a big treat minus the sugar.
It would be a good idea to expand the range of flavours.

No my three children did not like the taste.

They would not eat another one when we offered the next day and are still sat in the freezer as we bought another box as we thought they would like them.

The taste and the flavour was too strong for my daughter.

Older as my three younger children didn’t like them and are a stronger taste than what they usually eat.

No as it’s unusual for my kids not to like them

Not overally I don’t know if the freezer problems Tesco had contributed but the flavour came off as more frozen veg than fruit ... oddly I like Sainsbury’s veg and fruit hey Jude lollies but I can’t taste the veg

He is 8 months but he did pull a face and he eats anything first thing he has refused ( loves the Sainsbury’s lollies )

I didn’t like the taste but I did like the fact it was nice soft icy texture

I liked the packaging and marketing I was extremely excited to try them out.

The size is lovely for kids and the shape was appealing .

Perhaps younger due to they don’t know the other options out there / more excepting this is the best option available and are not as used to refined sugars as us oldies
