This is the feedback thread for the Mumsnet users who tried and tested the new Nice by Nature ice lollies. Selected testers tried one of 3 flavors;

• Strawberry & Raspberry 100% Fruit Ice Lollies
• Mango & Banana 100% Fruit Ice Lollies
• Apple & Blackcurrant 100% Fruit Ice Lollies

This product test was open to all UK MNers who have at least one child. Selected testers received 1 pack of ice lollies to try out.

Please note these lollies are ONLY AVAILABLE in TESCO.

Here is what Nice By Nature have to say: “Hi there! We are Nice By Nature and we have created a new range of delicious fruit ice lollies! They are made from 100% fruit and absolutely nothing else! In fact our lollies always contain four ingredients or less – and by nature contain no added sugar and no nasties! Your kids might call them a snack or even a treat, but you can think of them as a fruit bowl in your freezer!”

I would say 3/6 year olds. I feel older children would prefer other lollies.

We’d love to try the other flavours and I was a bit disappointed that we couldn’t get a multipack of flavours

I liked the fact that they were dairy free and sugar free, and I didn’t have to worry about my DS having more than one a day. My DS loved the fact they tasted like a smoothie, and didn’t melt too quickly in the hot weather.

• Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why?

I think they would appeal to 3-6 more than 7-12 because they are quite small in size and I don’t think older children would prefer these over other brands of ice lolly if they knew they were healthy.

younger children mostly, because of the size and the fact it’s an ice lolly and that they don’t choose yet but are chosen for by parents more than likely

I tested apple and blackcurrant as mango and banana wasn't available at my local Tesco.

I would love to try the other 2 flavours they sound interesting.

I was satisfied with the flavour. Initially took a bit of time to get used to the reduced sugary taste .

We liked the fact it was all natural but we're used to more sugary tastes plus banana flavour came through a lot.
Price at 3 pound for 6 is a lot. We paid 2 pounds on offer.

I think it depends in the child and their general diet. Younger kids may enjoy more if only eat natural sugar food and less processed sugars ..

I would recommend the lollies. They were refreshing and cooling

My kids love fruit so they loved the taste. They loved that the look just like normal ice lollies .

I liked that they are healthy - 100% fruit so the kind of thing id like to make myself but just don't have the time

I'd say probably younger as they won't have as much say on what parents buy I think older children would definitely enjoy them . They were full of flavour and tasted like frozen smoothies

DS(aged 3) liked them a lot. They didn't melt too quickly which is good in the heat. I like that they are a healthier option. personally I thought they tasted a little bland.

I think probably all, but I don't have older children. They definitely appeal to my 3 year old.

We did already, apple and blackcurrant. We liked these best.

I was probably most satisfied in my family. I like that they are all natural fruit without added water or sugar. I think they are really good.

What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies?
My youngest, 6, didn’t like them at all, not the taste or texture.

My eldest, 7, thought they were refreshing and tasty but said he said he taste more banana and apple than strawberry and raspberry.

Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why?
Taste wise, since they are less sweet than sugar/ice lollies, I think older children might have a more mature palette.

Would you recommend Nice by Nature ice lollies to your friends or family?
Yes, I think they taste nice, are refreshing, and are better for you than sugar/ice lollies

They liked the sweetness. My older child said they tasted like frozen smoothies.

I think they appeal to all ages. The packaging can be tweaked to suit.

Really tasty, can taste the fruit and pleased they were low calorie. Child would like another one.

Child said he couldn't taste the banana.

My ten year old enjoyed the lolly so all ages.

Yes I think it would be worth trying out the other flavours to see if we liked those

DP and I weren't impressed. They had hardly any flavour. DS really enjoyed them though.

- What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies?
DP and I thought that they didn't really taste of anything. DS said they were fruity and smooth to eat and he said he wanted to have them again.

- Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why?
The packaging appeals to the younger age bracket, but DS who is 8 liked them so they obviously appeal to older children flavour-wise.

- Would you recommend Nice by Nature ice lollies to your friends or family?
Even though DP and I weren't sold on them, as DS liked them I would recommend them to friends for their children to try, as they are a healthier, less sugary ice lolly than most others on the market, so they do have appeal.

We tried the raspberry and strawberry and I have already bought the other flavours and tried them too.

Packaging is very ‘wholesome’ and appeals to the parent more than the child I think. They give an air of healthy and natural in the pictures but nothing exciting or bright to appeal to kids.

We all quite liked them- I liked the fact they were a low calorie sweet and cold treat and in the end I ate them more than the kids.

The kids enjoyed them after school on hot days and found them refreshing but they definitely wouldn’t replace a traditional sweeter lolly or an ice cream in the treat category.

My nephew who is 4 really liked them and I think they appeal more to that age group who haven’t already had their heads turned by the likes of fancier lollies.

I will keep buying them to take as an after school snack and I have enjoyed them at night to stop me raiding the chocolate stash!

So yes I would recommend them.

• Overall, how satisfied were you and your family with the Nice by Nature ice lollies? My 6 and 7 year old.enjoyed the lollies and finished them completely and they were seen as a treat. I did not tell them that they were made from fruit only.

• What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies? "They are soooo nice" - the taste, the texture are both nice. And they liked that they are healthy.

I tried similar brand when they were younger, and they just didn't like them at all, but now that they are 7 and 9, I guess they can appreciate when something is healthy and tastes nice!

Strawberry and raspberry (IIRC we were asked to test a different flavour, but this was the only one Tesco had)

Possibly.

Quite satisfied.

• What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies?

Loved the smell, loved the fact that they weren't sickly sweet, but were a little disappointed that the flavour wasn't as intense as the smell. I've found when making ice-lollies at home, that you need to increase the sweetness and intensify the flavour, otherwise the ice-lolly doesn't taste as sweet or as juicy as the juice from which you made it.

• Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why?

Younger. They don't expect sweet foods to be as sweet as older children expect. Perfect size.

• Would you recommend Nice by Nature ice lollies to your friends or family?

Yes. As a slightly healthier-than-usual ice-lolly.

My child tried strawberry and raspberry flavour. I would love to try all available. I am gonna buy them in tesco on my next shopping trip. My daughter loves it. I bought them just before the 30°©+ so it was very hot and she wanted ice cream as I m not buying lollipop that often. When she tried it she loved it and she says it is actually better than ice cream. She is three so i think she enjoy the fact that it is lollipop, it is sweet and it is frozen. I was more than happy to watch her eat. As a parent I am very satisfied with the fact that this is 100% fruit and not any nasties inside. I already recommend the lollipops to my friends and i will continue with pleasure. I think the ice lollies are suitable for any age- both toddlers and bigger children as they are tasty. A but expensive if u need to buy on normal price.

I have excitedly tried the apple and black currant, but my local store has yet to get the mango and banana in stock.

We all tried the lollies & loved I them, my partner and two older kids thought they were good but they prefer more ice cream cones. My younger kids loved them & they are a great bargaining tool to get them to finish their dinners!

We all loved the taste & texture of the lollies & cant wait to try the mango & banana ones!

Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why?

The packaging is more appealing to younger children and the small size is more appropriate to them too.

Yes definitely! We all enjoyed them & such a plus that there is no added sugar & a perfect treat size.

I love the idea that they are natural and not have any added sugar and colours in them. A stronger flavour would have been better as they don't taste as strongly of the fruit as we'd have liked.We would have left out the banana as you could taste banana a bit more over the other flavours .If i buy apple and blackcurrent then that's what i'd think was the only fruit included.

I think it depends of the childs likes rather than their age as it's appealed to both age ranges.

My 2.5 year old preferred them. My 5.5yo sadly prefers chocolate based ice lollies.

We tested the strawberry and raspberry flavour

Yes the black currant would be a choice we would make.

My son who is 3.5 years old loved them. He doesn’t like things that are overly sweet and really enjoyed these. I also managed to sneak one and thoroughly enjoyed it.

• What did you/your child like or dislike about Nice By Nature ice lollies?

I loved the fact that they didn’t melt quickly and drip all over the place. Liked them being more substantial and as an adult loved the fact that you could have these as a treat without lots of calories.

• Do you think Nice by Nature ice lollies would appeal more to younger (3-6) or older (7-12) children? Why? My son who is 3.5 years old loved them. I think they would appeal to both younger and older children as the flavours have a nice range.

• Would you recommend Nice by Nature ice lollies to your friends or family? Yes definitely. Not loaded with sugar and additives etc and great for both adults and children so if you all want a lolly you can all have the same and all enjoy them.

Yes, they all sound nice - Tesco isn't our closest supermarket though so would be more likely to try if they were available elsewhere

My son enjoyed the flavour. I thought they were great - I usually make my own frozen smoothies as icelollies and these are essentially the same thing, with a 5 month old it's much easier being able to just buy them!

I think probably younger children as they won't be so used to other products, but then again my niece and nephew are 9 and 11 and I think they would enjoy these.
