NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack x 3
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack x 2
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack x 1
Size 4+ Maxi Plus (9-20kg) 44 pack x 1
Size 5+ Junior Plus (13-27kg) 36 pack x 1
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus (16+kg) 26 pack x 1

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our nappies now have the magical absorbing tubes so we can ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

Thanks and good luck

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

DS was 8 months and we tested size 4+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I loved how thin they we're, they were almost as thin as pampers, certainly thinner than other supermarket's own nappies. They didn't leak, even during the night. There was nothing to dislike.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have already brought them again. I was using own brand in the day and pampers at night. It's good to be able to just use one reasonably priced, reliable nappy.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Comparable to pampers, and more reliable than Tesco and Aldi

My son was 11 months when I tried these nappies and we tried size 4

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I was very impressed with the quality of the nappies, they were soft and not bulky which meant they didn't take up a lot of space in my bag
There wasn't anything which I disliked about the nappies

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Definitely, I have tried a number of different brands of nappies and can say that these came amongst the top

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely, I wasn't aware that Lidl do nappies and they are very good value for money so will be buying them

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They compare very well, the nappies didn't leak even when used for a longer period of time I have found some other branded nappies to stick when LO has done a poo but these nappies didn't

Thank you

DoodleCat · 17/05/2018 11:36
  1. 3 year old, can't remember if they were 5+ or 6+, sorry!
  2. We had no leakage which was great. They fitted well and my child had no issues with them. The only negatives were that there was a slight odour after a night in the nappies and for some daft reason I didn't like the penguin character as it made me think of winter.
  3. Yes
  4. Yes, absolutely! They're an excellent price, seem comfortable and didn't leak.
  5. Comparable with others we use. (Much better than Morrisons which we tried recently and leaked several times.)

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My daughter is 2 years and 6 months

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I liked them, they seemed comfy and held all night long without any leakage. the only thing i found was that on two of them the fastening tabs broke when i fastened them.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I most definitely would recommend them they are cheap and great alternative to more expensive brands.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes i would due to price and they perform just as good as the more expensive brands. I am obviously still concerned that two out of the pack seem to have had defects and would hope this was a once off problem.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? In terms of staying dry I'd say it's the same as other brands. We didn't have any leakage not even at nighttime.

  1. DS2 is 3 and we tested size 5.
  2. I was very impressed. DS2 liked wearing them and no issues
  3. Yes definitely
  4. For another child definitely. However as I am keen to move DS2 to pull-ups I would probably not use them as much.
  5. Better than rival supermarket brands definitely.
ohlittlepea · 17/05/2018 22:24
  1. age 4 size 6
  2. I liked that they felt soft and not too bulky.
  3. Probably yes, they are great value for the price, and very absorbent, although didn't suit my daughter's skin for some reason.
  4. I will try them with my new born, they are no different to premium nappies and so soft, absorbent and well structured.
  5. I think they are the softest of any brand I've tried and have a lovely fit with the stretchy waist band, they are less bulky than aldi nappies and more absorbent than most brands I think. Unfortunately my daughter came out in a bit of a rash with them which was very mild and could be coincidence.

  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? We had one small leak. I wouldn't blame the nappy.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? Dd was 10 months and we tested size 4

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I liked the way that they felt- they were a lot softer than most other brands ive used. They felt comfortable and not cheap. They held up in most of the Rigorous testing dd put them through.
  2. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes although no lidl is near me so it is unlikely

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Generally really good. There were a couple of night time leakages but otherwise great
chandlersfraud · 19/05/2018 17:18

some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
    2 3/4 size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Really good - same gathered 'smocking' idea as pampers so gives a snugger fit

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes apart from it's not been always possible to get all sizes in nappies/pull ups at our local branch which is a down side.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes because the fit has now improved compared to before so they're not as prone to falling down when full or leaking, and they're v good value.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Just as good as pampers. Much better than Sainsbury's own that I recently tried.

overall they're fab. I just hope I can reliably get them in store.

Aramis01 · 19/05/2018 19:17

1.My little chap is 5 months old and we tried size 4 nappies.
2,We liked how they were light in weight compared to other brands.
In addition how they held water and didn't become to heavy and baggy.

However, the elastic around his legs seamed a little tight on him,may be because he has chubby thighs. Also I did find that there was some leakage at the top near the waste band.
3.I would recommend these nappies but would also tell my friends what I found with them.
4.Yes we would buy these again. As we felt they were value for money.
5.Leakage was a lot better than other brands and they held water well, keeping him quite dry. We felt they didn't become over baggy or heavy.

Gesu · 20/05/2018 19:03

*1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Baby was around 3weeks old. I tested the size 1 nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I thought they were nice and thin so not very bulky which is always good. They have a cutout where the umbilical cord usually would be which I liked as it can sometimes make it awkward when putting nappies on when you've got this plastic thing in the nappy.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I don't think I would use this size so wouldn't recommend for newborns at least.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

My baby leaked twice in these nappies the first time I used them so I ended up changing her more regularly when using these. I'm not sure why this was happening but the ones I was using prior to this I was having no problems with.
Based on this I don't think I will be buying the newborn smaller range. I may try the larger sizes however as she grows.

Also the yellow wee indicator line wasn't that clear. I was expecting it to turn a nice blue when checking how wet her nappy was but instead the indicator changed into a sort of beige) yellow colour so I was never too sure how wet her nappies were. I'm breastfeeding so this was important to me to ensure she was still getting plenty of wet nappies.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

As I have mentioned above baby leaked in the first 2 days of wearing these nappies so I ended up changing her more often than I usually do.

mamastired · 20/05/2018 20:39

1 my baby is 6 months old and in size 3 nappies
2 I don’t think I would reccommend them
3 I won’t be buying them because I really don’t think they performed very well for overnight wear as they seemed to leak and fill very fast. I have used them during the day and with regular changes they are very good. I will say though that they are really soft and really contour to baby’s shape so well and I would think they are very comfortable for baby and I really like the design.
4 the design is definitely prettier than most own brand designs and they are very soft and fit baby’s body really well. The only problem being that I don’t feel they hold as much liquid as some other brands with overnight use. Great for daytime use though

mamastired · 20/05/2018 20:48

Sorry I missed a question.
My overall impression is that they are great value for money and other than the fact that I can't use them for overnight wear, I would use them in the day time if needs be

Cd89 · 20/05/2018 21:33
  1. Child is just 1 and we tested the Size 3 nappies- which were a pretty standard fit in line with other brands sizings
  2. I liked them and didn't feel like quality was compromised for the price. They wasn't really any negatives in comparison to leading brands. My baby didn't leak or experience any soreness as might be assumed with cheaper nappies.
  3. Yes Yes Yes
  4. Yes, I already have.
  5. Equal to leading brands at a better price!
seekingthejoy · 20/05/2018 22:53
  1. age 2, size 5
  2. Overall really impressed. Much softer and thinner than previous Lidl nappies I'd used and they were totally comparable to a leading brand I often buy, and nicer than other supermarket brands I've tried.
  3. Yes, definitely
  4. Yes I would. Have a Lidl nearby so would definitely make a point of buying these in future.
  5. We had no problems with dryness or leaking at all, even over night. Really nothing bad to say about them!

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 11 months old, size 4
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Good quality, effective nappies. They seem comfortable and move well with the baby. They're lightweight but absorbent. Nothing we didn't like really.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes, and I have 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They're among the best we've tried - if anything better than the more expensive brands

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 11months, 4+
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? They were lovely and soft which is always a plus, but I did find them a small ft and my son is very petite. No leaks at all.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? I would recommend these 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage 4/5 I would compare these nappies pretty similar to the shop closer to my home so I wouldn’t make the extra journey to buy these nappies, but they are very good nappies.
agent9t9 · 21/05/2018 16:10
  1. DC was 7 months old when we tested size 4 nappies
  1. Lidl Lupilu nappies were really soft and very absorbent. They looked and felt like a more expensive premium nappy which was surprising. Better than other supermarket own brand and didn't feel cheap, thin and nasty.
Bubba liked them and we didn't get any nappy rash or leaks/blowouts. Didn't bulk up when wet as much as other brands. Only "negative" is they were very tightly packed and a bit hard to get out of the packet.
  1. Happy to recommend them to friends
  1. Would probably buy them if there was a Lidl nearby
  1. Certainly better than other supermarket own brand of nappies and on par with one of the other main brands of nappies. Definitely kept my little one dry and leak free.

Thanks for selecting us Smile x

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My toddler is 24 months and we used size 5plus which fit perfectly well

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They look and feel like decent quality soft nappies and my son liked the prints

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Absolutely would recommend them

4)Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?*

Yes I would . Great value for money but most importantly they kept my son dry, explosions contained and never leaked despite him being a heavy wetter. They also don't sag.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Pampers baby dry used to be a really good nappy but since they changed them last year they leak like mad and sag . These beat them hands down. The lIdl ones are as good as Aldi's in terms of dryness and leakage ( which is very good ) but superior in terms of fit as they have a stretchier waist band .

Overall I am really impressed and if I was to top by Lidl would definitely repurchase although we're currently toilet training .
