NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack x 3
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack x 2
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack x 1
Size 4+ Maxi Plus (9-20kg) 44 pack x 1
Size 5+ Junior Plus (13-27kg) 36 pack x 1
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus (16+kg) 26 pack x 1

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our nappies now have the magical absorbing tubes so we can ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

Thanks and good luck

We have been using with our granddaughter aged three who still wears nappies at bedtime. She is a size 5.
Lupilu nappies are great. They are so much cheaper than other supermarket own brands and branded nappies but equally as good and in some cases better. They are a good fit but still flexible and she has dry skin even after 12 hours in the same nappy
I definitely recommend the. And already have and we are already buying the newborn Lupilu for our Three week old granddaughter whereas before we would have bought pampers.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My twins are 16 months old and we used size 5 nappies
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Really good impression, they looked bright and lots of absorbency without them looking and feeling bulky
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely! Great value for money, no leakages. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I hope so, there isn't a Lidl local to me so if I can be organised and buy in bulk
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? These are my new favourite brand, prefer them to pampers and other supermarket brands I've tried

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
She was 17 months at the time. I used 4+.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Really thin, comfy and leakproof. Cute monkey patterns. Only small criticism is that they felt a bit plasticky.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Definitely- I already have.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely- they're great value for money.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They seem to be exactly the same, certainly for this size anyway. I don't change her during the night and didn't feel in danger of leakage first thing in the morning, even when it was full.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? DS is 13 months old and we tested Size 4.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I really liked the fit, there was no leakage either.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes, absolutely. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I would as they’re fab value for money.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Better than Tesco and pampers that both have leaked for us.
vroc81 · 14/05/2018 21:15

) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

She’s two and we used size 5 nappies (and they were a good fit compared to the size 5 pampers and Aldi that also had on the go)

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Overall impression was very good - no leakage, good fit and less bulky than previous.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I would - already have.
4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes bought them for nursery as good price when they change them every 2 hours..

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Pampers probably better overnight but comparable to Aldi and better than the Tesco ones we bought in an emergency and had to use up.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was impressed, they were very soft

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

They seemed the same as most other brands

Vikiib · 14/05/2018 21:59
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My daughter is 18 months and we used the size 5 nappy

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked the nappy it was lightweight, not bulky and fit well

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I would definitely recommend these nappies to friends

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have already bought lupilu nappies since the trial

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

They were much better than pampers at being dry to the touch! We experienced no leakage.

Seahawk80 · 14/05/2018 22:09

DS is 10 months old, we used Size 4 but probably need 4+ now. He's on the 25th centile so not that big!

Loved the nappies, great fit and they were nice and slim so didn't take up too much space. I liked the design too. Didn't have any leak issues. I'd definitely recommend them to a friend.

I've started buying the nappies. In fact I've switched all my shopping to Lidl - much nicer than the "other" foreign cheap supermarket! They are such good value. Just wish Lidl did a bigger range of baby foods and snacks!

Dryness abs leakage wise they were up there with premium brands I have tried.

NeverKnowWhat · 15/05/2018 06:16
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Was 6 months and tested size 3.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Very soft, didn't have chemical smell some nappies do. I liked the design, good stretch around around the waist.
My LO came up in a slight rash, and they didn't keep her dry overnight or manage poo explosions.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I may try a bigger size when she's older and her skin isn't as sensitive.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

See above - they didn't work for my little one.

Abbiemmihell94 · 15/05/2018 07:50
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My son is 19months and in size 4+

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
At first I thought they were rather thin. They were stronger then I thought.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would to anyone who doesn’t have an allergy baby.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
No, because they didn’t cope well will allergy poop. With allergy poop it’s extremely sloppy and the nappy just kept leaking. But for wee and normal poop it was great.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Personally I still prefer Tesco’s, due to them being able to hold allergy poop a lot better.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My daughter is 16 months old and we tested size 4.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Nice nappies although we got some leakage especially during the night time and I have noticed that these were not as soft as my ususal brand.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would tell the truth as much as I liked them I still prefer my usual brand.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Would stick with my usual brand.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? As I said before they are not as absorbent as my usual brand I'm afraid.
RedBlu · 15/05/2018 12:30
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

11 months and Size 4

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The sizing is quite generous so they fit nicely and didn't cut into her legs. However, I found they leaked quite easily. They also weren't as soft as I would have liked. Whilst we were using them, our baby also suffered a nasty incident of nappy rash. She doesn't suffer with nappy rash usually so I am not sure if it was related to the nappies or just something that would have happened anyway.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Probably not. They leaked too much, to the point I stopped using them overnight and only used them during the day when I could change her every couple of hours.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, as above they leaked quite a lot and she leaked through her clothes on a few occasions. I am not sure why they leaked as they seemed to fit well, maybe they just aren't as absorbent as they need to be. We also had a few runny poos and they didn't cope well with those.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

I would rate them fairly low to be honest. They leaked too much and I would have to change her every two hours or so to ensure she didn't leak through her clothes. With our usual brands we only changed as and when needed / every few hours and we can leave her overnight knowing she won't leak. With these, we only tried her with them overnight a couple of times and she leaked both times.

theAntsareMyFriends · 15/05/2018 12:59
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
    12 months and size 4

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were soft and didn't have the overwhelming chemical smell of pampers and other own brand nappies we have tried. It was easy to work at front and back which is surprisingly useful when changing a reluctant baby.
The info that came with them seemed to suggest that they have eco credentials but there was nothing on the pack to suggest this. If they are better for the environment than normal disposables that would be a massive tick from me.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. I liked them and preferred them to other disposables. We usually use cloth nappies but need some for holidays so I'm going to buy these.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? I've never had problems with leaking with any brand and these didn't cause any problem either so I guess just based on this I would say they were equally good
BabiesOneSleepNone · 15/05/2018 19:05
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? She's 10 months and we tested a size 4
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I didn't think they were great to be honest. They seemed smaller than other size 4 brands we'd used before, and the waist seemed really low - they didn't contain poo very well! The sides ripped easily too. They were very absorbent though, despite looking quite thin.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I don't think I would, no. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I wouldn't. I use Boots own brand nappies usually and they're not dissimilar in price but are bigger and feel more substantial. The Lidl ones just didn't fit that well and didn't contain poo due to the lower waist.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Leakage they weren't great, but dryness wise they were pretty good - on a par with Pampers.
Fondantfancypant · 15/05/2018 19:38
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

12 months old.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I thought they were great, lightweight very absorbent and no rashes or leaks.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes I would and have already actually. Great price and product.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

On a par/slightly better than my previous faves Aldi and Pampers but also cheaper therefore I will continue to use them from now on.

NerrSnerr · 16/05/2018 06:48
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 12 months, used size 4
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Lovely and soft. They did leak at night sometimes though at night
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? If passing a Lidl.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Leaked more than pampers but were softer and seemed comfortable
scatterbrainedlass · 16/05/2018 08:36
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 8 months at time of testing, I used size 4
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I loved them, they are so slimline, and although she's a bit young to care, the fun animal designs are great.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I would if I was in Lidl. I don't have a store local to me.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? I normally use Aldi Mamia nappies which I prefer over most other brands. I found them very similar in terms of fit and dryness, however the Lupilu nappies are that bit slimmer which I like.
cherrybabe · 16/05/2018 08:57
  1. My daughter is 18months old and i tested size 4
  2. They were a good fit, sot and much thinner than other nappies I have used yet didn't leak.
3.Yes definitely especially as the cost is far more friendly for as good a product as the more well known brands
  1. Yes I would buy these again
5) I found these were as good as other well known brands if anything a little lighter but just as effective if not better than some others,
OutComeTheWolves · 16/05/2018 11:05
  1. My baby is 4 months old and we used size 2.
  2. I liked that they weren't bulky but I found them very leaky especially overnight.
  3. I probably wouldn't recommend them . 4)I don't live near a Lidl and wasn't impressed with the nappies so probably wouldn't buy again.
  4. we usually use Aldi mamia which are at a similar price point but a much better quality.
waterlily200 · 16/05/2018 12:59
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Size two on boy aged 9-12 weeks

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the wetness indicator but was disappointed with the overall feel and smell of the nappies. They also leaked.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

No however if they still wished to purchase them I'd suggested the next size up from their current size as I let they were small fitting.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

No. I wasn't happy with the fit and they leaked.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

I was disappointed with the level of dryness and the nappies leaked more then others which was disappointing.

Mel0Dram4 · 16/05/2018 15:22

My son is five months and we tested size 2 nappies, he's a little one!
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Well generally a nappy is a nappy and not much to comment about them! But I did actually comment how soft these felt when I got them out.
3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would definitely recommend these nappies if it came up in conversation.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would buy them if we lived near a Lidl.. .but we don't: ( and I don't have a car.
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
Now days I find nappies are all pretty good at containing fluids and solids! When my 17 year old was a baby nappies were nowhere near as good and leaks were more common.
So these were just as good as any others in terms of lleakages..BUT beat others on the price point and how unusually soft they feel to the touch.

Jellybean2017 · 16/05/2018 16:41
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
Baby is nine months old and we used size 4 nappies

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Overall I felt the nappies were good quality. I couldn't see much difference between them and Pampers really, apart from the fact they were perhaps slightly bulkier. I liked the designs on the front and back (and the designs on the back helped me put the nappies on the right way round, hahaha!)

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes I would recommend them

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would if I was going to a Lidl for other items but unfortunately we do not have a Lidl store in my home town

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? We did not have any issues with dryness or leakage when using the Lupilu nappies. Therefore they compared very similar to Pampers which we usually buy.

I was pleased to be selected as a tester and the nappies we tested were high quality and good value for the price that we would have paid in store.

TenaciousV3 · 16/05/2018 17:27

1)My baby is 9 months old, and I requested size 4+ nappies. However I was sent a packet of nappies labeled size 4 with a 4+ sticky label taped over the packaging.
2)First impressions were, I loved the colourful print/cartoony images on the nappies. They felt fairly robust, though a little thin and perhaps not quite as soft as other nappies that I've tried. We did experience a few incidents of leaking nappies, but as I'm not entirely sure I was given the correct size, that might've been due to the nappies being too small. Overall I was happy that they were comfortable for my baby to wear and seemed sufficiently absorbant, particularly during the daytime.
3) I would certainly recommend and actually have recommended these nappies to friends and family.
4) I would definitely buy the Lupilu nappies in the future, mainly because they are such great value, considering their performance and quality, compared to that of more expensive alternative brands.
5) As I stated before we did experience some leakage occasionally, but in general I was very happy with the Lupilu nappies' performance. I did feel that some other, branded nappies that I've tried felt softer and I had more faith in them to offer greater comfort and better absorption for longer, particularly overnight, but the Lupilu nappies were perfectly adequate for our needs.

Flightsocks · 16/05/2018 19:35
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

2 year old DD with size 6 nappies

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Very soft and a good fit. Liked the wetness indicator and the tape for sealing the used nappy up (found the tape hard to pull off at times but probably a good thing as undoing the tape on nappies is DDs hobby). Also found the sides a bit hard to rip cleanly when changing. No leaks which is the biggest thing. I've tried other supermarket brands, including Lidl previously, and they have all leaked so I always use Pampers.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, definitely

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes as they are a good alternative for the Pampers we normally use. I also have a 3 month old DS who I would try with these as well

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Equivalent to Pampers but better than any other supermarket brand I've tried

DiggityDam · 16/05/2018 21:41
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 2, size 6

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? The look and feel of them were nice. Dd really liked the animals printed on them. But, they leaked. A lot, I stopped using them overnight as hey just didn't keep her dry.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? No

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? No, they leaked.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They were inferior. And that's comparing them with Adli nappies which are my brand of choice.
