NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack x 3
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack x 2
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack x 1
Size 4+ Maxi Plus (9-20kg) 44 pack x 1
Size 5+ Junior Plus (13-27kg) 36 pack x 1
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus (16+kg) 26 pack x 1

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our nappies now have the magical absorbing tubes so we can ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

Thanks and good luck

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My baby was 3 months and in size 3 nappies.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I was very impressed with these nappies. They appeared softer than previous brand Toujours( I think it was called). I also preferred the designs on these nappies.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes most definitely, they were very absorbant.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I would definitely buy these nappies again, they are brilliant value for money and just as absorbant as leading brands.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They are much better value for money than other brands without compromising on absorbancy, and we had no leaks with these nappies.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

23 months and we used size 5 (though the packaging had been relabeled as 5+)

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They are very soft and thinner than my current brand, pleasant packaging and design although not bothered really by this.

They were not as absorbent as I would like, my DS wees ALOT and I was having to do more frequent changes. The size was not right and so they were a little snug. the tabs get stuck and rip off causing a wasted nappy approx 1 in 10 seem to have this defect.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

They are a decent nappy if you are hard up. better than supermarket basics.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I prefer asda little angels. There is nothing to make lupilu stand out from the crowd other than pricepoint.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

DS always had a wet bum when changed, but as said up post he does seem to wee more than the average child.

No leaks that I can recall, no worse than other nappies.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My baby is 4 months and we tested size 3

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I really liked them, excellent price, no leaks, lasted overnight again with no leaks. I didn't really like the designs on them - I didn't like the all overall pattern - I thought it looked a bit cheap. They weren't the softest nappies I've used.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Definitely

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I've switched to them from my usual brand following the trial

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? The best -no leaks, super absorbent. Better than premium brands

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 1 year

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were amazing quality. I loved the softness. The designs were great and neutral. I lile the sectioned parts that absorb the urine better and allow for air to babies bum. They were very compareable to pampers (but i guess without the price tag of pampers).

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Definietly!

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes. Lidl is quite far from me but im near to one i will stock up!

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Very like pampers but better as they dont have that funny smell that pampers do. Didnt leak at all and lasted the whole night.
Happytea · 12/05/2018 14:47
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
    New born size 1.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Really liked them. The designs on the front are cute. They were not bulky at all even when wet so I'm assuming they were more comfortable for my daughter than other nappies.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes! Absolutely love them! Such value for money!

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes... and I have. These are the nappies I now use. I do so because they really are value for money I don't have to use a barrier cream at all. Also they don't leave a residue on her bottom when wet (which a supermarket's own brand did).

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage. I have had no leakage at all and my daughter's bottom is still dry after a wet nappy. They also coped well with the first mini-poo explosion... job well done! I have tried other brands-the leading brand and another supermarket's and these are the best by a long shot.
Winningbeauty · 12/05/2018 16:21
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

I tested this over a few weeks from age 7.5months to 8.5 months

I tested size 4

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Cute print. I thought they seemed quite thin to begin with but they seemed to do the job initially when he was younger. Lasting up to 6 hours but never overnight.

Towards the end they didn’t even last 6 hours, one occasions soaking through 3 layers of clothing.

This was disapppointing given that the weight range is much heavier than my son currently is.

As a result I don’t think that I would purchase these Again as I think my son has already outgrown the size 4 and he is nowhere near the maximum weight nor is he big (50th febrile). Although much cheaper than the leading brand, I ended up using more per day and thus a pack would not last me as long.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes to try and especially in the early stages of the nappy weight bracket. I’d recommend them for day use but not night.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

No, we don’t live near a Lidl and these would not make me go out of my way to find one

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Pampers exceeded Lidl in both areas, same size, I use a size 4 pampers overnight, no problem.

They are in keeping with aldi, again during the day only and changed within 6 hours. Neither last overnight.

FlippertyJibbit · 12/05/2018 16:37
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

He was newborn and we tested first size (1)

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Actually surprisingly good! With my first DS we used Sainsbury's Nappies so I don't have a problem with using supermarket own brand but never considered Lidl as a supermarket that would stock baby items.

No leaks, fitted well and contained the big meconium explosions very well!

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely, I have switched to these now

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yep as above I now use them :-)

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

They're brilliant, we didn't have any leaks at all.

On a side note though! We're now into size 3 and they seem very thin and seem to look very full in a short space of time. I change DS at each feed anyway and he's never had a problem going through the night with one but may put people off if they don't want to persevere with them.

Mumsnet- I haven't received a survey, please could you resend mine?

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? Just turned 2
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I thought they were quite thin but they turned out to be really absorbent
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes definitely 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, mainly because they are such good value
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They leaked a couple of times at night but then so have most other nappies we've used, including pampers.
GimbleInTheWabe · 12/05/2018 20:07
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? He was 5 months when we tried them. We had size 4.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? They were very soft and faired didn't cause DS to have any nappy rash (a problem he'd had with pampers). They didn't fare too well over night for us and we had a bit of leakage on the top at the front. They had a bit of a chemical smell to them which I disliked.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? I would recommend them if asked but I'd recommend the Naty ones we usually use over them. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Probably not as I don't live close enough to a Lidl but I would buy them again if I was in a bind.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? The pampers ones were the most absorbent but overall I like the Naty ones best, especially as they have an eco edge. The Lidl ones were okay though and the designs were sweet too.
Treacletoots · 13/05/2018 07:37

We tested size 5 for our 15 month old.

Prior to this we've always stuck with a main brand. We were very pleasantly surprised to find that these performed just as well for a much lower cost!

We will be buying again ans yes we would recommend. We honestly couldn't tell the difference between these and the more expensive brands

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My baby is 6 months old and we s Used size 3.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I loved the design, they are very soft and felt very good quality, a lot better than the aldi ones I normally use. They suited my daughter fine and kept her dry. For the price they are amazing.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? 100 percent.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why? Definitely, for the price and quality they are amazing. Have a lidl not far from me and will defo be buying these from now on. I will also be recommending

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
4 months and we used size 3

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They seemed cushioned and comfortable without being too bulky and I liked the design on them. It would be good to have more distinction between the front and back of the nappy, as I found it very easy to start putting them on the wrong way round.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I definitely would, they are fantastic value and comparable to much more expensive nappies.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would, however I don’t have a Lidl store close to me, so it is only convenience that would stop me.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They didn’t seem quite as dry as Pampers during overnight use, but I found that they were much better than every other nappy we have tried (including Tesco, Aldi and Naty).
Mariai2013 · 14/05/2018 16:47
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
6 months old and I tried size 3 nappies

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I really enjoyed them, there was no leaking at all, and no nappy rash, I have never tried unbranded nappies before because I’ve been scared of them giving my baby a rash but I will buy them again for sure, really affordable and really great

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    I would

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
I definitely will, great nappies

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Pretty similar, I did find myself changing his nappy more often at night than I would with say pampers, but not mayorly.
GemmaSmiffy · 14/05/2018 17:06
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Answer: 9 Months You sent me size 4 I found these a little to small so I went out to buy the size 4+ so I could test them properly.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Answer: I really like these nappies and since testing them I haven’t used any other brand they are very good quality for a fantastic price they seem to hold a good amount of liquid and I haven’t experience any leaking as of yet. There is nothing I dislike about the nappies.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Answer: I have already recommended them to my friend that is due to have a baby in June I even bought her 3 packs of the newborn size 1 nappies & 3 packs of the newborn wipes to test for herself.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Answer: I personally won’t use any other brand unless I can’t get to Lidl for some reason. I found these great quality for a great price.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage.

Answer: I find these nappies 100% better than Asda’s own brand my 9 month old son gets really bad nappy rash with the Asda & Tesco’s own range but hasn’t experience any nappy rash at all from the Lidl Lupilu range. I would highly recommend Lidl’s Lupilu range I’m fully converted. Overall score 10/10.

  1. My daughter was ten months old and we tested size 4.
  2. I was quite impressed with them. They didn't leak at all and I liked how they were not bulky and fit well into our bag. I did find i had to be careful when fastening the tabs as a few did rip off.
  3. I would recommend them. Decent nappy for a brilliant price.
  4. I would buy them if i lived nearer a store.
  5. They didn't leak at all. I was very impressed. They fit her very well.
MrsKHammond · 14/05/2018 17:12

My little one was about 22 months when we had them, we had size 5+.
Really liked the nappies. They were really absorbant so no leaks and I liked that the design of them wasn’t too girly or too boyish.
Would definitely recommend them.
I would buy them, think they are really good value for money and very effective.
These are probably the best nappies I’ve tried in terms of dryness,we had no leakage, even throughout the night.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My son is 4 months and we had size 2
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I did not like the shape or fit of the nappy but did think they felt very soft
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? No 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? No I wouldn't as we had quite a lot of leakage and I didn't feel they were a good fit for my son
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? I thought they kept my son dry but caused leaks up his back where as other brands have fitted better
jacqui5366 · 14/05/2018 17:49
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? Age 2 I tested size 5+
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? loved the design, they are very soft and felt very good quality, excellent price, no leaks, lasted overnight again with no leaks. I thought the night time absorbency was not as good as my usual brand.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? I would recommend them, and gave my friend a sample - she went on to buy a pack. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, I'd put them in my trolley in an instant, and this would save me a trip to boots for my usual brand.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? The pampers ones were the most absorbent, I think the quality is very close to pampers. I feel that the absorbency is slightly inferior and in the morning skin is damp, although no leaks. I have decided to keep using pampers overnight but am very pleased with daytime use. At far less than half the price we are making a much needed saving.
Irys7146 · 14/05/2018 17:50

I used size 6+ for my three year old son. I was very surprised by how thin they were and to be very honest I didn't think they would be able to hold the amount of wetness expected. I loved the design on the actual nappy as did my child, he would excitedly tell me about the elephant and mouse as well as naming all the colours. I liked how thin these nappies are, very easy to put a couple into my nappy bag. There is not any one thing I can think of in terms of dislikes. This nappy by far has to be the best i have tried. I would 100% without any hesitation recommend this to both family and friends. I will definitely make the extra effort to go out and purchase these nappies for now and the near future. I found that these nappies had three tunnels of absorbancy, my child always had a drink of milk in bed so in the past I have had many accidents when his nappy is bulging and has leaked. But these nappies have drastically made a huge difference. Not one accident and despite being wet, the nappy holds really well and is not bulging at all. I am very happy to have tried this brand and I have converted. Lidl lupilu nappy brand number 1.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

4 months, size 3

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked how thin and light they were compared with other brands.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Possibly, especially if they were already a Lidl shopper

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would, and have when I’ve been in Lidl. However as we usually do our shopping in Aldi I wouldn’t make a specific journey to buy them

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

It might just be the shape of my baby but I found them better at containing poo than others we have used (mainly Mamia) but worse at containing wee. A few mornings her babygrow was damp which we hadn’t experienced before.

edwardcullensotherwoman · 14/05/2018 18:26
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? DS was 22 months when testing, I used 6+ (the pack said 6 but there was a sticky label over it with 6+ printed on it)
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I liked the cute designs, and the nappies were soft and not too bulky. The absorbency wasn't very good, DS was soaked through every morning (10 hours max), and also leaked through a couple of times in the day. The daytime leaks seemed to be when he was sitting for an extended period, eg. In the car/buggy. Fortunately though they contained poo reasonably well Grin
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? I'm not sure. I wouldn't tell people not to buy them, but I'd probably share my experience. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? No, because DS was wet every morning. With 4 children I don't have time to change his bed every day!Confused
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? As far as wetness leakage was concerned, these were worse than most others, (with the exception of Huggies). They were better at containing poo around the legs that's Tesco and ASDA though.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My dd is almost 3, size 5 nappies
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I love lidl nappies anyway. I adore the new design and packaging. They are a lot softer too.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes definitely, and i have done too. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, because of the price mainly.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? I have always rated these better than pampers and other leading brands. They have never leaked before. The absorbency is brilliant. No complaints whatsoever
Kingy2910 · 14/05/2018 18:46

My dd is 2.8 years old and I tested 5+.

Good value for money. Was nice to find a nappy that was thin but supportive.

Yes would recommend them.

I would buy them again but I don't shop at Lidl very often so would just be when passing.

I've found a lot of nappies smell when dd has had one wee.....these didn't so super

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

We tested size 6+ Nappies in my 2yo daughter.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was really surprised by these nappies. Knowing that they are a cheaper alternative, that’s exactly what I expected them to be. But they are great. Super slim which is great for an active baby or toddler, lovely and soft and really absorbent. I’m not sure if I’d change anything.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

100%

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yep. A really great price for the level of quality.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

I think that they are just as good, if not better. We often use Pampers over night as they have seemed best for overnight dryness, but the Lidl competitor held up just as well.
