NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack x 3
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack x 2
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack x 1
Size 4+ Maxi Plus (9-20kg) 44 pack x 1
Size 5+ Junior Plus (13-27kg) 36 pack x 1
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus (16+kg) 26 pack x 1

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our nappies now have the magical absorbing tubes so we can ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

Thanks and good luck

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My daughter is 9 months old and we tested the size 4 Lupilu nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Loved these nappies!! They were much thinner, lighter and more flexible than other ‘budget’ brands I’ve used before. They fitted my daughter well, didn’t leak and her skin didn’t react to them like it has with other brands. I genuinely can’t fault them.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely, I already have! I find a lot of new parents don’t know where to start with nappies so will be happily recommending these.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I have swapped to buying these nappies. Though I shop at Lidl sometimes I haven’t been using their nappies recently due to previous problems with them. I will certainly be using them now.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Having bought much more expensive nappies and had issues with leakage and skin reactions I have found these nappies to be far superior to them. They are similar to the more expensive brands in terms of weight and flexibility but in my opinion way better.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
12/13 months old, we had size 4 plus I think, it said 4 on the actual package and a 4+ label had been stuck over it so unsure.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were thinner than the Aldi nappies I usually use which made me wonder if they would still be as effective. Nice patterns on the nappies, always helpful to know which is the front and back at a glance! The sticky straps seemed to rip easily though when putting on which was annoying as I’m not that heavy handed.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes I’d say they were worth trying out.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
If I was in there and needed nappies I would but I wouldn’t make a specific trip for them.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? No leaks but I didn’t test them for overnight dryness as she’d gone up a size really and I know the smaller size we had wouldn’t have coped.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely. They are great value.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - I already have since taking part in the trial.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Lupilu nappies performance was excellent. No leaks, no rashes, good fit and good value for money.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I found that they were easy to put on and my daughter seemed to find them comfortable. They were a good fit and we had absolutely no problems with leaking
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would. They are good value for money and for us, they seem to be more effective than the more expensive brands 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes I would. I thought they were great
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? We had less problems with leakage than we've had with other brands. They seemed to stay pretty dry

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage. On a par with Aldi and pampers but much softer
Crackers1288 · 03/05/2018 12:00
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My DS is 8 months and we tried size 4 nappies

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They were nice and neat (not bulky) My son didn’t experience any rashes etc and we had no leaks at all. The design was nice.
The only thing for me was that there was less stretch in the band than the usual brand I use, however this didn’t cause any problems.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, a good nappy for a very good price

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Very similar to the brand I would usually use

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? DD is 2.5 yes we used the 6+
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? They were soft and appeared very comfortable. They were very good quality and we were impressed with how much uriine they held.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I will definitely buy the nappies in the future. For all the reasons above.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? I think these nappies and fantastic in terms of dryness and preventing leaks. My dd drink lot of milk before bed and alot of water over night. She often leaks but didn't leak once using these nappies.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? Size 4, 11 months.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Loved these nappies, real good fit and seemed to have stretch in the band's, a bit like pampers. Seemed like a comfortable fit.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes, I already have as my friend has a newborn, 89p for a pack of size 1 is amazing!

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, I don't shop at Lidl but I plan to buy these nappies definitely, love the fit, zero leaks and the value for money.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Before this I used Aldi which were fine, but these just fit so much better and my little girl has a bit of a round tummy so these had give in the straps, which is better for her.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
She is 12 months old and we tried size 4.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Nice design and fits well. I would have prefered the tabs to be coloured to make them easier to find when you are wrestling a wriggly baby into the nappy.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, they are nice nappies, we didn’t have any leaks and my daughter seemed comfortable in them.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes if I had a Lidl near me and the price was good.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

I normally use Tesco and these were just as good as those.

Amanduh · 03/05/2018 12:25
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

17 months, Size 4.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They were fab! Nice design, substantial but not too bulky, fit well

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Absolutely

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. They fit well and no leaks, comfortable too.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

As good as any others I have tried and I’ve tried most! We had no leaks whereas we have had several with Pampers and Asda.

Amanduh · 03/05/2018 12:26

Oh and such a great price!

Hughpughbarneymagrew · 03/05/2018 12:45
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

2 years old, used the size 6 (XL). Here's not actually up to the weight recommendation for size 6, but we always use a 6 overnight with any brand as he's a heavy wetter and we find this works best for us.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Absolutely loved how soft these are. My toddler has bad eczema and gets very itchy around the waistband of any nappy. The elasticated section of these pull ups is the softest I've seen yet, and I've tried most supermarket and premium brands. I had some Pampers in the house and felt then side by side, the Lupilu nappy is definitely kinder to skin. For that alone if look for these again.
Overall I thought these were a great nappy.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. I usually buy either Aldi or Pampers, I think these are slightly better than either of those brands.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Great. No nappy rash or leaks and we were using these as overnight nappies.

Scoleah · 03/05/2018 12:47
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
    23 Months & we used size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

We Loved the Nappies! Nice & thin, not bulky, nice designs & no leakages!

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes, I already have done! These are Up there with the Leading Brands!

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, these are amazing Value, No leakages and son was very comfortable in them! 10/10
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
These are up there with the Leading Brands! But cheaper, win win!

Girlsmummy89 · 03/05/2018 12:56

My daughter is 21 months and we used size 5+.
I really like the softness of Lidl nappies, they are definitely as soft as Pampers and so much softer than Aldi nappies. They just feel nice and I'm happy that they won't irritate my daughters sensitive skin.
I would and have recommended them.
I would definitely buy them again, the only thing that puts me off is that I don't do my weekly shop at Lidl so would have to make a special trip. If and when I pass Lidl I would go in and buy some.
They didn't leak at all so are superior to Pampers in my opinion.

DoryNora · 03/05/2018 12:58
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

He was 10 months at the time and we used Size 4.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Very thin feeling, cute designs, looked great under leggings! DS seemed very happy and comfy in them. No leaks, even in the morning everything had been absorbed. Fantastic product!

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, definitely!

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, we have now converted to them! Fabulous nappy at a great price.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

They are on par with premium brands, much better than any supermarket brand I have tried.

Rak · 03/05/2018 13:06

We tried size 6 large on my 4 year old (who only wears at night and we’re trying to get him dry at night but not doing too well!).

Price seems very good. Quality good - no leaks and no smell in the morning (unlike Lidl’s previous nappies). Nice and slim so didn’t take up too much storage space. My only reservation is that they are not very environmentally friendly even if made from sustainable paper. They are Still bleached (uses a lot of energy) and are not biodegradable.

Archip17 · 03/05/2018 13:13
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Seven months old and size 4

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was surprised how much I liked them. With some more expensive brands like Pampers, they have an odd chemical smell which I can't stand. There was no scent on these (until the nappy was dirty...!) which was great. They were well made and super soft. I was using ALDI nappies, but I found these much softer and more flexible. We haven't had a single leak either.

My husband things they don't fasten as well as other nappies, but I haven't had this problem.

I think the price is excellent too, particularly give how quickly my son goes through nappies (that boy can poo...).

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely - and not just to friends, but to strangers too! When I went to buy a packet in Lidl and a lady was standing by the nappies looking at them - I told her how good they were!

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes - in fact I already have. I don't normally shop in Lidl, but I went specifically to buy these nappies.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

They totally hold their own (excuse the pun!) super dry - even for a very wriggly seven month old.

jennymac31 · 03/05/2018 13:15
  1. Baby is 11 months old and we tested the size 4 nappies.

  2. The Lidl nappies were good and I would consider buying them if I was looking for a cheaper alternative. The nappies were surprisingly thin but baby seemed very happy and comfortable in them. Unfortunately they weren't the best nappies for night time, as they did leak on occasion.

  3. Would recommend these nappies for daytime use but not for night time.

  4. Possibly, if we happened to be close to a Lidl whilst out and about and we needed some extra nappies.

  5. Although there are other brands out there that are better in respect of dryness and leakage, the Lidl were good for what they were and I have tried other brands that have been much worse than Lidl.

Spitzbergen · 03/05/2018 13:27
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My son is 15 weeks. We used size 2
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I was surprised at how soft they were and I liked the cut. Easy to put on.
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would. And I have. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes I would. I thought They were really good. No leaking and very soft.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? We had no problems with leaking and tend to have problems with major brands like pampers. Will be buying them again.
Cotswoldmama · 03/05/2018 13:38
  1. My son is two, we were sent size 6
  2. They were really thin but super absorbent. They were quite large my son is a chunk and weighs about 17kg but I think I would buy a size 5 instead of a 6. They came up quite high on his body so I think a 5 would fit better. I would have liked them to be in the packet the other way up as I always open nappies from the top and when you pull one out a few come out at once. If they were the other way you can easily pull one out at a time.
  3. I would definitely recommend these nappies to friends and family.
  4. I will buy these nappies in the future but in a smaller size.
  5. My son drinks a lot and he’s had no leaks at all. I usually buy the budget ones from Wilkinson’s which are a great price bit do sometimes leak if I forget to change his nappy!
dointhedo · 03/05/2018 13:41
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Almost 3 and we tested the 6+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Great quality, not bulky or flimsy, nice pattern.

Only thing that could have been better is if they had been a pull-up instead of tabbed nappy for the size/age range.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes definitely. No argument for the price point and quality.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. Very reasonable price and good quality. Would probably go for a pull up in future for DS but would definitely purchase for any future babies.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Pampers slightly dryer feeling but not far off enough to justify the price difference; comparable with Aldi, way better than Asda and Sainsbury's own.

chibsortig · 03/05/2018 14:06
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
She is 3 and size 6+

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I like that they arent bulky, yet are still absorbant. We mostly used them overnight and had no leaks.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes definitely.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes i will be purchasing these nappies again, they are good for overnights with no leaks and a good price too.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? I think they are just as good as leading brands currently available if not better than some.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? 3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? I would definitely recommend Lupilu nappies 4)Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I don’t generalky shop in Lidl but if I was passing I would definitely call in for them I may call in to try their wipes and other baby products too
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Absolutely fab very impressed Thanks for letting me test them!
