NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack x 3
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack x 2
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack x 1
Size 4+ Maxi Plus (9-20kg) 44 pack x 1
Size 5+ Junior Plus (13-27kg) 36 pack x 1
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus (16+kg) 26 pack x 1

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our nappies now have the magical absorbing tubes so we can ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

Thanks and good luck

  1. I used size 5 nappies on my son who is 18 months old.

  2. They seemed ok. They looked nice and felt soft. They were tighter around my sons tummy than other brands and he’s not a big child.

  3. I’d recommend them as a day nappy but they get very full and heavy overnight when there’s longer between changes.

  4. I’d buy them as everyday nappies but would use others for night time.

  5. I would say they were very good for dryness but if left for too long (such as overnight) they get very full and heavy.

) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?* 5 months old and we tested Size 3.*
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?* We got on really well with these, they felt soft, flexible and looked comfy on. They aren't bulky either.*
3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?* Yes if the price was competitive I would definitely recommend them to friends and family.*
4)Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?* Yes I would buy again and have in fact bought them again instead of Aldi.
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? We didn't experience any leaks and they kept baby dry, they feel soft and did exactly what we needed them to do.

TreasureInMyTummy · 03/05/2018 22:00
  1. baby is five and half months old and I used the size 3 nappies
  2. impressed how slim line they were yet caught most leaks. Wetness indicator would still help. Not sure why nappies in bigger sizes don’t have them.
  3. I would recommend them to friends who buy other supermarket brands as I found them on par with them and did them job.

I do prefer pull on pants now though since baby has started wiggling and find the stretchy band around top of nappy help keeps in the explosive poops. Where there is no stretch poop just goes up back and through vest and gro. I’m finding this with other brand nappies though as well where there is no stretch band on top of nappy.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My son is 2 and he tested Size 4 nappies and they fit perfectly.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were very slim, which was impressive!
They did perfect job without any leak even throughout the whole night, which was very surprising for me and I didn't expect that!

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
They are amazing value for money and I would definitely recommend them!

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I would not hesitate to buy them again in the future as there was nothing that I didn't like about them.
For the value alone they deserved to be praised!

    Definitely would recommend

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Very light and soft, good quality.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, definitely

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, definitely, we have switched over to this brand now. They're really good value for money, and work very well for my little one.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Very good, contain leaks better than some of the other supermarket nappies we've used.

Summergarden · 03/05/2018 23:46

Age 17 months, tested size 4.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I liked that they were quite thin and the pictures on the nappy.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes I would, as they performed well overnight with no leaking.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes, as they are good value and perform well.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They performed as well as the Pampers that I usually buy.
chickenmashandgravy · 04/05/2018 00:39
  1. my daughter is 23 months and we tested size 4+.

  2. My overall impression was that they were better than I expected. I liked how soft they were and there was no bulkiness which is perfect for a busy toddler. A wetness indicator would be the icing on the cake for me.

  3. Yes, I would recommend them. They are almost as good as the Pampers nappies I have been buying for the last 2 years.

  4. I will definitely be buying them when the Pampers premium isn't on offer, especially at the price they are.

  5. I'd say they are the best of the supermarket brands.

biffyboom · 04/05/2018 10:11
  1. 8 months old, size 4+

  2. overall, I thought these nappies were brilliant.
The shape/fit really suits my daughter, and for me personally, I love how high they fit at the back, which saved me from the dreaded poonami a few times.
The thinness of the nappies is great, and how the shape is kept when soiled/wet, and not becoming a lumpy misshapen mess like a lot of others do.
There are no negatives for us with the Lupilu nappies.

  3. Yes, I would definitely recommend the nappies, as my first choice, if it came up in conversation.

  4. Yes I would buy the nappies again, and already have done. They performed excellently on my daughter, and are great value for money.

  5. For me, these nappies are as good as, and I actually even prefer to Pampers.
At the very least, they were way superior to all the other supermarket own brands I've used (Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Aldi).

jewels3000 · 04/05/2018 10:50

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The first nappy I tried snapped (where you attach) so my first impression was that they were no good, but I gave it another go and I was impressed, the first one must have been defective as I haven't had another problem
I like the design and I find them quite thin.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Really lovedthem, felt lovely and soft and very absorbent. My only complaint was they were in the packet upside down so the folded edge wasn't easy to grab and get out!
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes have already done. 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes, we already shop in Lidls and once our pampers run out we will be buying these instead.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

2 years 3 months and we tested the size 5+ nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the look of them, they’re not too bulky and they designs are cute.

Unfortunately, these were the smallest size 5 nappies we’ve ever tried and I struggled to fasten them on my child as the tabs were not at all stretchy like many brands. I compared them to a Tesco size 5 and the Lupilo were noticeably narrower. They are absorbent but in the morning, I found the nappies had been pulled down by the weight and revealed a nice ‘Builder’s bum’ effect! The waistband tended to fold and create a red mark too. It’s a shame as
I bought Lidl nappies happily in the past when passing but these seem different.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

In the past, yes but I’m not sure now.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I might try a bigger size and put it down to being designed for the smaller babies (like French baby clothes!) If they don’t fit then I probably won’t buy them again regularly.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

They didn’t leak but I wondered if they couldn’t cope with as much liquid as other supermarket brands I’ve tried such as Tesco and Aldi.

Teaandkittens · 04/05/2018 20:56
  1. I tested the size 4+ nappies on my 18 month old (she is small!)
  1. I was really impressed with them. They were thin, absorbent, didn't leak, and were the most similar out of all the supermarket brands I've tried to Pampers/more "premium" nappies.
  1. Definitely due to the value for money.
  1. Yes I would buy them in future- I'm lucky to live quite close to Lidl! Not sure if I'd make a special trip though as the convenience of online ordering of my usual nappies would probably win.
  1. I'd say they are strong competition for the leading brands! Better than Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's for sure- they're thinner and don't have a weird chemical smell. We had no problems with leaking, even overnight.
MerlinsBeard87 · 04/05/2018 21:09

My son is 6 months and we tested Size 4.

I liked the design. They were light weight and not bulky. They felt soft and seemed comfortable.

Yes I would recommend them.

I would buy again if I have the opportunity but there is no Lidl near me.

I prefer them to Aldi as they are a softer nappy and more comparable to pampers. Unfortunately I don’t think the absorption was as good as pampers, but for the price they are a great nappy

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 04/05/2018 22:19
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Yes and already have several times.

Yes I would as they really good value.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

On a par however these seem a lot softer than others.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

DD is 2 yrs 11 months. We used 5+.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The nappies were a good size - I compared them to Aldi ones and they were a bit bigger.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Possibly.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

We had a few leaks so I may try them again but in a bigger size only.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

They were a bit better than Aldi ones. I will try size 6 and then make my mind up.

woodwaj · 04/05/2018 22:55
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My child is 3 years old. We requested size 5+ but unfortunately we got size 5 sent.
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? We've tested them before. Our son likes the pictures on them!
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes I would 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? I would if I was passing a Lidl. Unfortunately my nearest store is about 30 mins away so it's not convenient for us.
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?I liked them as did our son. Unfortunately the size we were sent were a little too small but we had no complaints about the nappy itself. The smell from the nappy when full seems to have improved from the last time we used them
LexieLulu · 04/05/2018 23:28
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My DD is almost 2 years old, we tested size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
My DD liked the animal design, I liked the thinness. It made it look less under her leggings. She's a chunk so the super padded nappies look huge.
I did not like the fastenings/straps,I felt like they could have been longer. With pampers the straps almost touch together in the middle, yet these did not. We had one leak, which was partly due to DD fidgeting whilst dressing, but also cause of a gap at the top of her leg, which a longer strap would have improved. (This probably won't be the case for all, my DD is a chunk)

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, on a price perspective and design

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
If I was in Lidl yes, but I wouldn't specifically go to Lidl for.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? As I mentioned in 2) we had one leak. I was impressed with dryness due to thinness if the nappy itself.
Keepingupwiththejonesys · 05/05/2018 07:46
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Child was 13 months at the time of using them and we used size 4+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Really liked them, quite thin so not lots of bulk in my bag. They didn't leak and he seemed comfortable in them. He actually went up yo a size 5 nappy in another brand before the trial but these 4+ fit fine. I didn't dislike anything!

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes definitely. I've already mentioned that they are good nappies to a friend.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes, I'd make them my regular brand if I had a lidl nearby but unfortunately don't. I will however be stocking up on them whenever I'm near a lidl.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Great, some brands I do like and will continue to used but there are at least 4 well known brands that I think lidl are much better than.
