NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Nappies with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack x 3
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack x 2
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack x 1
Size 4+ Maxi Plus (9-20kg) 44 pack x 1
Size 5+ Junior Plus (13-27kg) 36 pack x 1
Size 6+ Extra Large Plus (16+kg) 26 pack x 1

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product: "Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our nappies now have the magical absorbing tubes so we can ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? 4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
  4. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

Thanks and good luck

Our son is a few weeks old and we tested size 2

I was very impressed with the performance of these nappies. They are relatively thin, which made them seem a lot more comfortable on a small baby. Although they were thin we never experienced any leakage or had any problems with them. The sizes also seem to have a slightly larger weight range than other brands.

I would definitely recommend them to friends, as they are good value for money.

I would buy them again. We don't normally shop at Lidl, but I would be tempted to go every so often to stock up on baby items.

We have used Pampers nappies, and these are just as good. They both have wetness indicators, and both have performed equally well with leakage and comfort.

Quite good overall but feel full much faster than other brands I have tried... Though don't leak

Yes

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
    18 months, size 5+

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
The design was nice, the shape and size was good, the thickness was good (quite thin). They did occasionally leak when used overnight, compared to my usual Tesco ones which never do. I had no problems with them during the day, though.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, for daytime use or smaller babies

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes but only for daytime or sending to nursery. I'd still prefer Tesco for nighttime.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? As above - they are perfect during the day and mostly fine at night, but not always, so I'd be slightly wary of using them at night time.
PatchworkElmer · 03/05/2018 14:46
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

17 months old, and we used size 4+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

LOVED the patterns, the fact that they’re thin and not too bulky under clothes. I disliked the fact that the tabs aren’t stretchy.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. They are a good alternative to Pampers, and I have a Lidl near me.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Dryness- excellent. Leakage- had a couple of ‘incidents’ with these nappies, and haven’t had any with our usual brand for over a year now.

m0jit0 · 03/05/2018 14:56
  1. 8 months, used size 3 nappies
  2. First impression was that they were quite compact and less bulky than other brands- great for comfort and for fitting in the nappy bag. Felt the fit was good however I didn't rate the dryness- felt this wasn't as good as other brands however I may have needed to size up. I didn't have the confidence to try these for overnight use due to this. We had a few accidents/ leakages whilst wearing these.
  3. No 4)probably not- see point 2.
  4. I use Aldi nappies which are comparable in price but I feel they are better for leak protection and dryness than the Lidl nappies. However as stated above I may give them the benefit of the doubt and see if a bigger size suits better.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My daughter is nearly seven months and we used size three nappies.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the feel of the nappies, some nappies can feel quite plasticky - this wasn’t one of them. I also liked the patterns of the nappies which were fun.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I would happily recommend this to any friends or family.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

I would. I do a weekly Lidl shop and wouldn’t hesitate to buy these as part of that shop.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

I found that these nappies didn’t leak at all which is better than some of the leading names that I’ve used previously.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My son is 20 months and we tested size 5+

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I liked the cute print with the elephant and bird on, I liked the soft material and strong feel to the nappy.
Our overall impression we were very impressed with the quality of the nappy we had no leakages whilst testing even when my son had a poorly bum they coped and there was no leakage. They are a good fit and we will be buying now instead of another leading brand as these are more affordable and match the leading brand with quality.

  2. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes definitely and I have recommended to friends because of the fact that they are really affordable and a good nappy.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes we have now switched to this brand because they're more affordable and match up to the leading brand that we was using and we have a local Lidl nearby.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? They match the leading brand as stated we had no leakages even when my son had a poorly bum.

Thank you for the opportunity to test has made me realise you don't need to buy the top brand to get a good quality nappy and I can now save some pennies. X Grin

Coffeecoffeebuzzbuzzbuzz · 03/05/2018 18:56

) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My baby is 4 months and we tested size 3.
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
I have used lidl nappies before and was looking forward to testing these. They looked good and were softer than I was expecting but unfortunately they leaked frequently for my daughter (they were definitely the correct size.)

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would not based on the test experience due to the frequent leakage resulting in clothes changes. However reading the feedback on the thread I wonder if I had a defective pack? The absorbency just seemed very poor.
4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Probably not due to the leakage.
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
They unfortunately did not compare well to other brands I use and therefore i would be unlikely to change.

sozzled · 03/05/2018 19:14

Can't provide feedback as never received the nappies .. actually forgot all about it until I received the email with the survey.

Good feedback though so think I will give them a go once my current stock runs low.

Unihorn · 03/05/2018 19:50

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Great impression, decent quality, good absorption and the suggested prices are very good.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes although I don't often discuss nappy recommendations!

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes definitely if kept at the suggested prices

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Apricots17 · 03/05/2018 19:53
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Max was 6.5- 7 months old at the time of testing and we used size 4.

  1. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I loved them. They are very well made with cute designs on them. They keep my son dry and comfortable and are great value.

  1. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I have already recommended these nappies to friends.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?

Definitely - premium nappies at an affordable price.

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

They are just as good if not better than the leading brands. I have tried another leading brand lately (in their pull up range) and although they seem comfortable the lack of control as they have no side fasteners meant that he had a few leaks.

mayago · 03/05/2018 20:14
  1. My DD was 15 months old when we tested these, and we tested the 4+ (though the nappies themselves said 4 on the back)

  2. I was impressed with the thinness, and how soft they felt. I also enjoyed the print on the nappies themselves. I didn't dislike anything, but using taped nappies where the tape was sticky, as opposed to a hook and loop-type fastening wasn't quite as nice.

  3. Yes, I would recommend these to a friend, and have done already actually.

  4. I would absolutely buy these in future. I feel they are good value for money, and we had no issues while using them.

  5. Lupilu nappies were comparable to the leading brand I often buy. We had no leaks, no rashes, and my DD seemed comfortable in them.

We enjoyed this product test!

Beach11 · 03/05/2018 20:29

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not? Yes & have done. Love the quality & the price
5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? I rate these nappies as better in every way than other nappies I have tried.

My daughter is 23 months and we tested size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Overall I liked them, they didn't leak, daughter likes the designs on them and they were as effective as other brands. The only thing I disliked was the fit, however we have a very tall child and struggle with most brands.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, definitely. Value for money they were great.

4)*Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?
Yes I would in theory, however Lidl is quite far from us and therefore we rarely get to shop there. I will definately stock up on nappies next time we are there!

  1. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage? Equivalent to other supermarket and even leading Nappy brands.
sunseasandfun · 03/05/2018 21:00

my daughter is 3
tried size 6
I really liked these nappies, when I first opened the pack I don't think they felt like that would be good quality but my child liked them and didn't complain (she complains a lot about everything ). They didn't leak once and stayed put even though she's very active.

yes I would recommend
yes id buy them again if it wasn't for the fact that my daughter is now potty trained
They compared well to other brand I've tried, just as good as pampers in my opinion

I also tested the Lupilu pull up pants and accidentally left my review on this thread so here is my review for the nappies

  1. 12 months and we tested size 4
  1. I really liked them, they were brightly coloured so baby likes them, no leaks and the straps didn't rip like on some cheaper ones I've tried
  1. Yes I would I was really impressed with them
  1. Yes if I was in or near a Lidl
  1. There was no leakage at all, they're as good or better than other brand I've tried but for quite a bit cheaper
