We will absolutely be using this again- gives such a brilliant finish that I don't think I will ever want to use anything else!

To tell the truth I was overwhelmed with the colours & the fact they could colour match anything you wanted etc. I was originally going with a turquoise -y colour (my daughter's favourite at the moment) but ended up going for a colour called carousel purple from the testing sheets. I decided to do this so I could reuse lots of my daughter's original accessories (pink).

The service I received from the staff on the valspar desk was excellent. They were all very friendly & very helpful. They coped with me dilly dallying making decisions & also showed me pointers. As in the tester cards are identical in colour to what comes out of the tin & to hold the tester card up to the lights on the display to get better ideas of the actual colour.

So yes I was happy with the colour I chose.

The guy also said that the paint is so hard wearing that I could literally take a scrubbing brush to it and it won't take off the paint. (I haven't tried this but will be VERY interested to see how hard wearing it is as I am always doing paint touch ups around the house or wiping marks off walls...it always then leaves another paint mark or wipes the paint away!)

Decorated my daughter's bedroom basically because it needed doing. She got a high up bed at Christmas so pictures etc had to come out of the wall which the high up bed was going to cover. It basically needed doing!

Application was fine. To tell the truth I didn't notice any difference in application to the paints I normally use. However, I do think the paint went further. I have some left out of the 2.5l tin. The last time I completed this bedroom I used the full 2.5litres!

Yes I would AS LONG as it is as hard wearing as the staff and labels say. I do think it is expensive but if my daughter's room stays nice I will definately consider doing the stairs & landing with it next as they are always getting bashed & hand marks everywhere. Grrrrr

So the room is finished. My 5 year old absolutely loves it. The whole process of getting colour matched paint was really straightforward and super useful when you have a specific theme in mind, We needed the walls to be as "Lego" yellow as possible as we knew the contrast against our stickers would be just right.
The service at the Valspar desk was excellent and I think the colour match was pretty darned close (I was told they'd achieved a 99.1% match, which was low by their normal standards!)
The paint was easy to apply and had good coverage. I would definitely buy this again in future

My before photos didn't turn out before so will try again

We chose Orange Marmalade from the chip rack for our living room. Its been roughly 2.5 years since we bought our house and we painted the ‘feature wall’ a dark blue colour which has always looked nice, but needed a freshen up so we decided to go for a complete new look. I think for what we wanted there was more than enough colours to choose from, and narrowing down to just one took us ages! The service from the B&Q staff was good, he was nice and chatty and didn’t rush me when I couldn’t decide between silk or matte – I went for matte in the end as the other walls have a matte finish and I wasn’t planning on decorating the whole room at the time.

The paint was very easy to apply as long as there was plenty on the roller. It only took two coats to change from dark blue to a deep yellow, which is really very impressive given that we didn’t do a white coat to start with. It has dried to a very nice even finish, with no patches of blue showing.

The colour chips from the rack are true to the dried colour, so no need to waste money on tester pots, and with the range offered there really is a colour for everyone. I would definitely recommend this paint to others, and am already trying to pick a lighter colour for the rest of the living room to complement the Orange Marmalade.

We used the colOur match service. It was brilliant! Very simple, quick and a remarkable match. B&Q's area was clean, clearly marked and well staffed with knowledgable, friendly and polite staff.

Bedroom. It needed freshening up and we took advantage of this trial to splash out on a feature wall wallpaper. In fact, we colour matched the wallpaper to get a tester pot (£6) which we used to outline the edges of our very uneven and unsymmetrical wall (victorian cottage, no straight edges) so that no magnolia showed behind the dark wallpaper.

fabulous. A really good consistency that didn't splash. Easy and quick to apply. It even covered up plastic trunking. And we liked the lid - easy to remove and put back.

We chose a completely different colour than the one we were planning on because we fell in love with the Billions And Billions colour in your brochure. The colour looks exactly as we thought it would. Service at the paint counter was friendly and it was easy to get the colour we wanted.

Master bedroom because it is the neglected room in the house. My children have much nicer bedrooms than I do.

The paint was nice and thick so it wasn't messy to paint with at all and didn't bleed under the frog tape. It dried quickly - ready by bedtime. The coverage is excellent and I could see none of the original wall after the first coat. Second coat made it look really smooth. Obviously a high quality paint. Strong odour but not horrendously so.

Yes definitely. Our walls have to cope with a lot - children, dogs, toys, hands etc so having a scrubbable paint sounds fantastic. It was also really easy to paint with and we haven't got heaps of time to do lots of touch-ups.

We used one of the 2000 colours available. It was an easy and straightforward experience. The colour was just as I was hoping for so I was happy and the service was good.

Were you happy with the colour of the paint and the service you received? Staff were really helpful- showed me the colour in the tin once it was mixed to check I was happy and explained everything thoroughly. I was very happy with the colour- exactly how it looked on the paint sample paper I chose

1. Which room did you decorate and why? Main bedroom- bought our first home a few months a go and in need of a full renovation!

It was very easy to open and close the tin- find other brands are often quite difficult which can be a pain. I found the paint very easy to apply with no splashes. I thought the paint seemed very thick and of an excellent quality compared to other brands I have used which makes me confident it will be durable and look good for a long time.

You can probably tell which is the before and after picture! Built in wardrobes have been knocked out and the room layout has completely changed- for the better!

Hoping that the photo shows, as it shows the work in progress (dh is having an urgent op on his eye in the morning after having multiple hospital appointments lately, so I am a bit behind with my decorating due to this).

1. Yes I did choose from one of the already available colours. I was happy with the colour I chose and once applied did match the little colour card I got on my first visit to b and q to look at what colours I may choose. We went for a light yellow shade (in photos can be seen at day and night) as was originally magnolia .I found all of the service I received perfect.
2. I decided to decorate our hall way and stairs and landing area as these are the main areas our little ones seem to find it perfectly normal to touch all the walls with their little fingers when just walking along 😂
3. Ok so I found the product itself to go on incredibly well it painted nice and evenly leaving no splashes or splodges, I did find the roller I got was not very good at all and bits of fluff kept coming off it so used my own other roller which then worked fine. I found the paint brushes to work perfectly well at doing the touching up and filling in and again left a nice even coat. I guess time will tell as to how good it actually is but in my opinion it would be worth every penny if I can literally wipe it clean of my little ones hand prints which you can no longer see ... wahoo!!! I would definitely recommend it and would certainly purchase the brand again. I was impressed with just how much wall coverage one tin gave me as well.
4. Yes for sure Valspar has become my new favourite brand and with such a variety of colours I would definitely buy again!

Only just posting as have been waiting for varnish to dry as took up the carpet at the same time.

Brief answers to qs:

1. I colour matched to a Little Greene paint, Pale Berlin. I went for a matt finish. The colour matching was easy and looked good. I didn't look at their colour technology as I knew what I wanted. They didn't have any rollers left.

1. I decorated my daughters' bedroom. It hasn't been painted since we moved in 5 years ago and there were lots of marks on the wall.

1. The paint was good, went on easily and dried quickly. It was thick and felt good quality. 2.5l was more than enough for two coats of the girls' small double.

1. Yes I'd use it again. I think it's a bit cheaper than F&B and Little Greene, they're normally around £40-45 for 2.5l. It'll be interesting to test the scrub down option.

I let my son choose his colour as it was his room that we chose to redecorate there were so many colours to choose from. The staff were very helpful with advice on other colours and where we can use paint for wood and metal.

I am fussy with my paint and as I only ever use a brush need a good quality paint so that it covers well. I was very pleased with the colours and coverage.

Yes we will use this paint again as it is good value. Great range of colours and being hard wearing is a big bonus in a kids room

A1. There was so much choice! We weren't prepared for quite so many colours to choose from. We chose a white colour with a hint of grey from the chip rack. The colour was perfect and the chap serving us was very friendly :-)

A2. We decorated our hallway. It was in desperate need of renovation, the wallpaper was here when we moved in and is very old fashioned and dirty looking. Its a small space and needed brightening up to give a better illusion of space. We have two small children so something durable was also a must (especially as we went for such a light colour).

A3. We were very impressed with the paint, it glided on smoothy and it felt like we were using a premium brand. It wasn't thin like some other paints we have used in the past. It already looked lovely after just one coat. We were painting over walls which had previously been wallpapered so were a bit nervous about painting but there was no issue with this paint. Very happy :-)

My little girl and I chose from the huge selection instore. Normally I'm useless at picking colours but it was so easy and stress free. There was so much choice!! We also picked out colours cards to show my little boy for his room.

The paint was easy to apply and easy to clean off when I dropped onto the skirting board. I would say it didn't splash much at all. I picked the sheen finish and it looks great!

If it does all the things it says it does then I would happily use it!! The paint we had previously has scuffed easily with children, pets and life in general so being able to clean the walls would be so helpful!! I don't expect to have a show home but I want my house to look as nice as possible and withstand family life.
What would make it even better if it was a one coat application other than that I was impressed and delighted to have been picked to try it out.

This is a good quality paint. I was painting a dark yellow wall and as described there was no need to prime first, 2 coats gave great coverage and finish. The paint was quite thick and i think i will probably need to use more paint than i would of another brand but it's worth it for the job to be done in 2 coats.

Yes i will use again. Great colour range, quick and easy application. Great coverage.

1)I chose Morning Sun from the displayed sample cards. It's a bright egg yolky yellow. I normally choose neutrals but deliberately chose something bright as I need cheering up.
Jim in B&Q in Darnley was helpful and very enthusiastic about the whole mumsnet product test aspect ! He had not heard of Mumsnet but has children of his own and promised to look it up.

2. I chose the scullery. A small room at the back of the house which would once have been the kitchen .
   I chose it because I recently noticed mouldy patches on one wall.
   Also because I figured I could paint at night without disturbing anyone else .

3. I have painted many rooms in my life. My house is big and old and always needing painted. I paint at least once a month.
   This Valspar paint is possibly the best I have ever used. I have used every household brand name as well as fancy paints like F&B , Laura Ashley , Craig and Rose , Annie Sloan , Pure and Original . Valspar is the best yet.
   It has a beautiful texture and amazing depth of colour meaning it glides off the brush and on to the wall like a dream. It really is a joy to use.

I chose a Matt finish. It dried quickly and looked lovely immediately.
I usually get covered in paint smudge and splatter but kept myself pretty clean with the Valspar Wonderpaint.

Fate stepped in to add another element to the product test. About a third of the way into painting the room my dad became seriously ill. Having agreed to submit a review by 11th April I sought help from my ex partner . He is a painter and decorator
He completed the job this morning and he too was really impressed with the paint and says it is better than anything he has used before. I am not making this up . Keep in with your exes . He also said the mouldy patches were covered with one swipe of the roller.

4. I will absolutely use Valspar again.

I chose my colour from the colours on display. In some ways I found it hard to choose as there were so many variations of white ! But being able to hold the shade cards under the different lights really did help me to get it right. I was really happy with the colour I choose and I was fairly happy with the service I received. The staff were quite busy but I didn't feel like they wanted to offer any help.

I decorated my daughters bedroom. She had a feature wall which she decided she didn't want anymore and she wanted it white like her other walls. I didn't want to paint the whole room as it didn't need it so I tried to match the white to the other walls.

I was really impressed with the paint. I do a lot of decorating at home and have used different brands, this was possibly the best I have used in terms of quality and application. The can was quite hard to open. I was a bit nervous that the lid would fly off and spill the paint as I had to really tug at the lid to get it off. The paint was thicker than other brands which I really liked as it didn't drip. It went on really well with both the brushes and roller, and I found it quick and easy to apply. One major plus was it didn't 'splatter' - when I use a roller I am usually covered with a fine spray of paint but I didn't have this problem at all. The only negative I have is that tiny pieces of the roller sponge came off as I painted but it only happened about 4/5 times so it wasn't a major problem.

I definitely would use this paint again. I initially thought it was expensive but having used it I would definitely pay the extra as it is superior in quality to other brands and is actually worth the extra money. I have used other expensive brands so I know you don't always get what you pay for but with valspar you do. I thought it gave good coverage, dried quick and was easy to use so I would choose this next time I decorate.

We picked a lovely colour from the rack and were very happy with it - cream with a hint of green. Perfect.

1. Which room did you decorate and why? We decorated my son'd bedroom in the end (originally intended to do the hall but that's another story). It was in need of a makeover and it was done as part of a new bed, curtains etc.

It was very easy to use - I was impressed. Went on very well, roller was great. Not a lot else to say - it was very simple and very easy. I'd happily use it again (oops - next question!)

Yes, absolutely. Very easy to use, loads of great colours, coverage was perfect and price was great (cheaper than F&B!)Thank you for choosing me.

Choosing a colour if always a bit stressful for me as I think I'm just too indecisive, however the chip rack was brilliantly organised and I think the light boxes are a great idea - really takes the guess work out of what the colour might look like at home.

We choose a colour from the chip rack and as I wanted a grey/pink colour we chose 'dusky twilight'.

Staff at the mixing desk at our b&q weren't the most attentive or enthused but it didn't negatively impact our experience.

We decorated one of the rooms in our bedroom. Having recently moved our baby into his own room the walls of our room were left looking a little battered a bruised from furniture rearranging and general newborn shenanigans. Plus I wasn't s big fan of the magnolia my partner had painted the room because he got the paint cheap from work .

The coverage was great and it dried really fast. Overall I think 2 coats took just over half a day, including the fiddly cutting in bits.

The only negative I found was the dried bits of paint from the lid that had formed a 'skin' and had been mixed into the paint when mixing the colour. They were easy to wipe of while the paint was wet on the wall but did add a bit of inconvenience to the job. (Picture attached of what I mean)

We renovated our home a couple of years ago and the sheer quantity of paint we used has been astronomical and whilst it is on the pricer end of the scale I definitely feel this is a much better quality paint than most brands and made the job so much cleaner and faster.

Can't wait to see how scrubbable the paint actually is too.

I was amazed by the array of cours and could have spent hours looking at the swatches but instead we opted for a colour match with Crown paint which ive used in the past and have been impressed with although it left an odd smell afterwards (The Crown paint not the Valspar).
The service was very good and the rep was very knowledgeable and patient. He discussed the room with me and the colour scheme.

Our lounge was last decorated when I was pregnant with our first child and we have been looking at it since but not getting around to do anything about it. Plus it's the room we spend the most time in.

The paint seemed a little thick when I poured it into the tray but glided onto the wall really easily. I was really impressed with the coverage. If it wasn't such a bright colour we'd opted for then we may have got away with one coat. The end result was really good, I'm quite new to painting yet the coverage was really good.

Absolutely, with the choice of colours alone but also the coverage and the ability to scrub the walls. Also there was no overbearing smell of fumes. In fact we're going back this weekend to get some more for our kids rooms!

Very pleasantly surprised with the paint. I used a roller and there was very little splattering-I'm going to use this when I next paint a ceiling for this reason

Absolutely. I'm going to use it for painting ceilings due to the lack of splattering

Looking forward to seeing how it stands up to the amount of wiping it will have due to its location.

I choose my colour from the chip rack. The range of colours was great, it allowed me to find the colour I wanted. The service was good, although, the employee wasn't very knowledge about the brand and she struggled to find the v700 tin's - I had to point them out for her.

My bedroom. It's been many years since my bedroom was decorated and was in need of a refresh. The paint on the walls was worn and patchy.

It was a pleasure to use, very easy to apply the paint to the walls. It became quickly evident that Valspar is an excellent quality. I loved how the colour on the sample card was the exact colour of the paint on my walls (once it dried).

Definitely, I already plan to buy some for my son's room, and the playroom. Based on the quality and the final finish of the paint, Valspar will be the brand I will be buying.

Sure I posted the questions before! Can't find them so will re do now also... first pics, before during and after (just painted so excuse the patchyness) will get a after proper shot too. Also excuse the mess!

Brilliant. Chose from colour chips. Wanted one the same tones as curtains in bedroom. Easy to find with vast amount of colours in range! Great helpful service too! Offered tips which did help!

Master bedroom, just moved in and redecorating was needed as bare walls!

Was lovely to use. Smooth and went on well, dried great and already washed as husband is clumsy!! Already recommended.

Definitely. As above have recommeded already and scrubbed due to hubby being clumsy! Already looking for next colour!
