This is the feedback thread for the 250 MNers who have been testing Valspar Premium Blend v700 Walls & Ceilings Paint.

Here’s what Valspar have to say: “Blend v700 promises to give you ultimate coverage, pure colour, splatter resistance and allows walls to be wiped down without removing the paint. With excellent scrubbability and great stain resistance means Blend v700™ withstands the toughest household stains from felt tips to black coffee, making it perfect for busy homes and high-traffic rooms, such as children’s bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways. With long-term performance you can rely on, your colour will stay true for years to come.”

"As well as being available in a variety of finishes, including matt, mid-sheen and gloss, the Valspar unique colour matching technology can replicate any colour the eye can see - that's 2.2 million shades! Choose a colour that's personal to you and your family - be it the shade of a festive Christmas bauble, or a favourite ornament, simply take the item to your local B&Q and its exact colour can be scanned and recreated in paint form.”

Testers, answer the below questions, but also feel free to share any other comments you have on your experience:
1. How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample? Were you happy with the colour of the paint and the service you received?
2. Which room did you decorate and why?
3. Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Blend v700 Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.
4. Would you consider using Valspar Premium Blend v700 Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

Please also share your before and after photos of your project on this thread and complete the feedback survey when we email this to you.

All who complete the required feedback by the 11th April will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

  1. How did you find choosing your colour? I choose seven sisters from the valspar range. We were looking for a ceiling colour that's wasn't bright white or wasn't to creamy as we have restored the original beams in the house and wanted them to be defined.
I was very happy with the colour of the paint and the service i received by the paint guy in b and q Chorley was fantastic, he was so helpful.
  1. Which room did you decorate and why?
I tested the paint in the sitting room as it has the most original beams. We like it so much we have bought for the rest of the ceilings throughout the house.

Really good quality thick paint. You can feel the difference when applying it, excellent coverage and dries well.
  1. Would you consider using Valspar Premium Blend v700 Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?
YES. we have bought the ceiling paints for the full house.

I have uploaded before and after pictures 😁

I loved Valspar paint. I found the amount of colours a bit overwhelming but there was plenty to choose from! The paint was a dream to use and didn't go everywhere like other brands. The finish was smooth and it looked great. Love that it can be wiped too. Here's my finished project. I'm really pleased with it. I would use Valspar paint again

Not sure what happened as I loaded my review over a week ago. My phone seems to have eaten it!

  1. How did you find choosing your colour? Did you choose from the 2,000 colours on the chip rack or did you match a colour sample? Were you happy with the colour of the paint and the service you received?

I'd originally intended to colourmatch a discontinued B&Q colour we have in an upstairs bedroom. Unfortunately I didn't have a sample and didn't think a photo of the wall would be good enough...
If I'd had more time I could've bought some testers and figured out the correct colour to match. In the event on my first visit I chose a variety of green colour chips. Despite the 2,000 colours there weren't many true olive greens - none of the chips I took (about 15!) were really olive-y toned which surprised me.

On my second visit (different store) I'd decided to paint the lounge chimney breast alcoves instead. The lounge is completely almond white including the ceiling and woodwork (previous owner). I'm painting the ceiling and woodwork white and wanted a darker neutral in the alcoves. I thought this would be relatively straight forward but it was so difficult to narrow down a colour! I'd anticipated this based on my first visit but we don't have a B&Q locally and I didn't feel like taking another set of chips home and making a third visit to purchase the paint Smile
I settled on Boardwalk Sashay (fab name) and ordered the colour before I had time to dither! The lady on the desk at Welwyn was knowledgeable and friendly and chatted to us while the paint mixed. I was very impressed how quick the process was. We were shown the paint and it looked like a good match to the chip.

  1. Which room did you decorate and why?

Lounge alcoves as I was getting fed up of living in an almond white box! The ceiling and woodwork will be painted white in due course.

  1. Please describe the overall experience of using Valspar Premium Blend v700 Walls & Ceilings Paint, thinking about the application and product quality.

I used a brush rather than a roller as I'd read several reviews of the paint coming off on the roller. I found the same to an extent with the brush which encouraged me to work quickly so that I didn't end up touching tacky paint and removing the finish. The paint was nice and thick which was great except I was painting over lining paper with a slight relief. I had to ensure the paint went into all the little holes as it had a tendency to coat the surface only unlike a thinner paint. One coat appears to have done the job though!

  1. Would you consider using Valspar Premium Blend v700 Walls & Ceilings Paint in your home again? If so, why? If not, why not?

I was really thrilled to have been chosen for this product test, thank you! I'd definitely consider Valspar in the future, particularly for colour matching. The pp reviews are very encouraging in this respect. The price point is a little high for me (I usually use Dulux or Wilko) but I might consider it for a high traffic area like a hallway or kitchen due to its durability claims.

Just wanted to add - the wall has had its first cleaning test and did great! Someone wiped tomato sauce on the wall - gave it a quick wipe when I spotted it and it all came off with no issues.

So I've just read a thread (unrelated) about the cat pee smell with Valspar and Google tells me this could be the answer to why my hall smells of cat wee.

What do we do as it was free? And via a voucher so no proof of purchase?

GingerKitCat · 28/07/2017 13:11

I'd like to know the answer too Noeuf!
