This thread is for the Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the AddWash™ WW8500 Washing Machine.

Here’s what Samsung have to say: “We wanted a washing machine that simply adapts to consumers, not for consumers to have to adapt to their machines. Our AddWash™ range reflects Samsung’s commitment to marrying beautiful design and practical innovations to create appliances that help be more efficient”.
Ashwin Gouveia - Senior Product Manager – Laundry (Samsung UK)

Testers:
Once your machine has arrived, please tell us:

  1. What are your first impressions of how the machine looks?
  2. Having read the instruction manual, which features are you most excited about using?

After having a few days to test your machine, we’d love to know:
3) Are you pleased with how the machine washes? Why?
4) How is this machine different to your previous model?

Finally, now that you’ve had your machine for over a week, please tell us:
5) What is your favourite feature and why?
6) Would you recommend the Samsung AddWash™ WW8500 to a friend? Why?

Please also add your review to the Mumsnet reviews section here.

Non – testers, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, please answer the following question:
If you could add a magic feature to your washing machine, what life-changing function would it have? Would it make your clothes magically repel creases, or hang up your clothes automatically? Would it have a super quick wash cycle for those nights where someone urgently needs a clean PE kit? Would it have a sensor to locate those odd socks?

Whatever your idea, please post it as a comment below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 love2shop voucher.

Non-tester. Definitely crease-free clothes for me, plus a self-cleaning function too. This would make me very happy!

Hygellig · 14/12/2016 18:41

If you could add a magic feature to your washing machine, what life-changing function would it have?

It would wash clothes using zero energy, it would never need to be replaced, and the clothes wouldn't need ironing.

Starlingsintheslipstream · 14/12/2016 18:45

The feature I would like would be total removal of stains

scaryclown · 15/12/2016 02:35

My 'magic' quality would be that you put clothes into a hopper in your bedroom by colour and material and a wash is done automatically when hopper reaches 'reasonable load' but also the decision is integrated with an algorithm for time of day/week cheapest electricity, etc. one hopper might say be for work clothes that always washes in time to dry for sunday night say if hopper is more than 1/3 full.

Output to hanging rail might be added.. but i can see that being more complex!

scaryclown · 15/12/2016 02:49

Mind you if going 'magic' simply everything is clean and either new or desirably aged depending on your mental preference by just putting it back in the wardrobe or drawer.

Elliepurpleflower · 15/12/2016 05:39

Non tester here - I'd like it to be able to dry everything - including non tumble dry clothes then fold it all for me :)

Mine would have an automatic loading function that picks dirty clothes off the floor, sorts them, pulls the sleeves out, turns them the right way etc and then puts them in the machine! We can only dream!! :)

Flanderspigeonmurderer · 15/12/2016 10:15

Not a tester.
I would like a washing machine that cleans my sons school uniform and makes it repellent to all the mud and food slop that he gets all over it for at least the next week. That way I'm not constantly washing his school jumpers (I only have two because they're expensive and he grows out of them so quickly)

katiewalters · 15/12/2016 10:21

To help make my life easier, as I have children and I'm always doing more than one thing at a time. I would add a magic feature where you can talk to the washing machine from anywhere in the house which would turn it on, select the load, temperature, etc without you having to do it.

An anti-mould rubber door trim and a no ironing needed feature - that actually works!!!

BookwormMummy · 15/12/2016 12:34

Non-tester: I would love a crease free setting that would actually work!

DoloresVanCartier · 15/12/2016 14:45

A special feature eh? I would like to add the bit where the clothes come out ironed and the machine trots upstairs and put everything away!! Grin

SweetGrapes · 15/12/2016 14:52

Yes- since it's connected to wifi - presumably so that I can turn it on from wherever - then it really needs to collect the clothes beforehand , take enough detergent and put everything back once washed and ironed. Or It could just hang them up.

IWasThere4Aug12 · 15/12/2016 17:14

Non tester: I agree with many pp a self cleaning and drying machine would be great we're forever getting mild on the rubber seal

Pigeonpea · 15/12/2016 20:04

NON - Tester:
1 - it would have an add in draw
2 - it would detect mobile phones and bleep and NOT add water
3 - it would be quick, on 30 degrees and leave all clothes crease free!!
4 - NOT noisy
5 - auto weigh your items, so you know if you can add extra, or take away

To be long-lasting - self clean or let me know when to drum clean and minimal limescale whatever the water - hard/soft

sharmanda · 15/12/2016 21:00

I am a non tester and I think the function I would like would be like a steam function at the end of the cycle so there is no need to iron. I was going to say an ironing function but I thought this wouldn't work.
A self cleaning detergent drawer would also be great as I hate the job of cleaning the drawer out, it gets so disgusting and takes absolutely ages to clean.

shewhomustbeEbayed · 15/12/2016 21:15

Non-tester, I'd like an intelligent machine that I could put all laundry in together and everything would come out clean and uncreased and nothing ruined, maybe some sort of dry-cleaning ? And it would recognise if a tissue slipped through and everything wouldn't end up covered in bits of tissue.

Hoon · 15/12/2016 21:24

Non-Tester:
I would love a simple function that weighed my washing so I know whether it will be washed properly on the setting I choose - my current machine has differing load weights depending on what setting you select but I cant ever remember or know whether my load is too heavy for that setting. It would help be more efficient and get the finish you would hope for.

FPATEL · 15/12/2016 21:28

Non Tester

I would like my machine to remember that I always want an extra rinse at the end as I sometimes forget to press the button

Lisasm21 · 15/12/2016 22:04

Non tester - the ability to do a complete cycle of washing I.e. Wash, dry, fold and put away in bedrooms would be amazing

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 15/12/2016 23:35

(Non tester)

It would be able to cleverly spit out those few things which are a bit more delicate and only want a gentle spin, and then give everything else a darn good extra spin.

And yes, I agree that one that genuinely left things without creases so I didn't need to iron them would be lovely too!

And one that never goes mouldy, even in the wrinkles of the door seals, or the winkly corners of the detergent drawer... is my wishlist too long?

minimarshall · 16/12/2016 00:03

A washing machine that could safely rock your baby and send it to sleep with the white noise it produces rather than me stand next to it swaying to and fro with ds in my arms ! Wink (and no he won't just go in a rocker next to the machine - crafty boy knows the difference!)

Itmustbemyage · 16/12/2016 00:25

An interactive programme selector panel, my husband can't seem to select the correct programme/ temp by looking at the displayHmm maybe a key in pad so that you input type of clothes / colours and the machine would select the appropriate program for you, and then my DH wouldn't have shrunk one of my special jumpers.

cathisherwood · 16/12/2016 08:31

Id like the machine to tell me when I've started a wash and forgotten to add the washing powder/liquid or am I the only person who does this?
