This thread is for the Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the AddWash™ WW8500 Washing Machine.

Here’s what Samsung have to say: “We wanted a washing machine that simply adapts to consumers, not for consumers to have to adapt to their machines. Our AddWash™ range reflects Samsung’s commitment to marrying beautiful design and practical innovations to create appliances that help be more efficient”.
Ashwin Gouveia - Senior Product Manager – Laundry (Samsung UK)

Testers:
Once your machine has arrived, please tell us:

  1. What are your first impressions of how the machine looks?
  2. Having read the instruction manual, which features are you most excited about using?

After having a few days to test your machine, we’d love to know:
  3. Are you pleased with how the machine washes? Why?
  4. How is this machine different to your previous model?

Finally, now that you’ve had your machine for over a week, please tell us:
  5. What is your favourite feature and why?
  6. Would you recommend the Samsung AddWash™ WW8500 to a friend? Why?

Please also add your review to the Mumsnet reviews section here.

Non – testers, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, please answer the following question:
If you could add a magic feature to your washing machine, what life-changing function would it have? Would it make your clothes magically repel creases, or hang up your clothes automatically? Would it have a super quick wash cycle for those nights where someone urgently needs a clean PE kit? Would it have a sensor to locate those odd socks?

Whatever your idea, please post it as a comment below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 love2shop voucher.

    Standard Insight T&Cs Apply
    Thanks,
    MNHQ

I would like a washing machine that had a simple auto setting that could be used by untrained DHs. I would prefer it to have an verbal alarm system when the washing was finished that repeated "hang out washing" until another load was in progress.

Non tester : a wrinkle free wash that could detect whites.... please washing fairies!

Non tester: I'd love a machine that dried, folded and put away all my washing - too much to ask maybe!

Non tester- I would love a machine that searches out all the clothes left lying about the house and transports them to the machine, sorts it into coloureds/whites and delicates then washes. dries and folds the lot crease free.

non-tester. the clothes are magically folded and put in order to who they belong to. all I have to do then is put in the right bedroom

This looks AMAZING! The amount of times we have to 'add' to our wash because of a stray sock, lost towel or forgotten PE kit!! This would be a real bonus in our house for certain. I'll definitely look to getting one of these machines when this one no longer works (which knowing our luck could be any time in the near future!)!

Non – tester here - the magic function for me would be for my kids' clothes to be ironed and folded neatly after their wash! In reality though, I'd be pleased if my machine just didn't develop the black mould in the rubber door-rim!

Non tester

(Have not read full thread so don't know if these are duplicated)

A 'clean machine' cycle that means I don't need to clean gunk and grease out the drawer/door - just run that and the machine sparkles :)

Love the add feature and it will def be a factor when it comes to replacing our current machine

A 'hand wash' cycle that mimics what I do at the sink would be good

A scales/overload warning so that you know how heavy the load is and would prevent DH the washing fairy stuffing 2 loads into one so neither gets clean

A stain removal setting

Other than that, a strong spin, delicates/trainer wash options, a drum big/strong enough to wash a king size duvet and a 5 year min warranty include in the price would be my fav features

Non tester - I'd like a function that prevented socks from getting stuck in the seal, I always end up with one soggy sock.

Non-tester

A wool/delicate wash that is better at extracting water so clothes dry more quickly. I've had two machines that have left clothes sodden on this setting.

Non Tester. I would like a function especially for stubborn stains, with a child that gets food on her clothes daily maybe an inbuilt option with a seperate prewash would be handy. I know my machine doesnt have a seperate prewash and i hate having to use a stain remover before hand and soak the items then wash them, its just so long winded as a busy mum.

Intotheclouds · 24/12/2016 23:34

Non tester- my magic feature would my clothes to come out the machine and dry ironed and folded ready to be put straight away.

Non tester. I'd add a special stain removing wash function which actually works after something has accidentally been chucked in with the bitmap wash that should have been pre-treated with something like vanish or ace bleach!

Non Tester Here

I would absolutely love a rogue tissue sensor so that if a tissue happens to find its way into the washing machine it will alert you so you can remove it before you end up with a load of washing with little white shreds of tissue all over everything.

Non tester, my magic feature would be an inbuilt dye catcher (would probably need regular replacement I know) this would stop DH making all the washing look like a giant bruise.

Mumsnet reviewer here! I am SO happy to come and share my thoughts on this amazing machine - it arrived as I was mid-house move and has been such an absolute godsend during this time.

1)What are your first impressions of how the machine looks?

  • it's SO sleek. I've never had a machine that isn't silver before but this is just fab - I don't miss the metallic look one bit. The screen is bright and easy to read and I am bowled over by the fact there's a light inside the drum.

2)Having read the instruction manual, which features are you most excited about using?
  • the first thing I was desperate to try was the AddWash door... genius as I'm always dropping socks all over the house

After having a few days to test your machine, we’d love to know:
3)Are you pleased with how the machine washes? Why?
  • YES YES YES YES YES! I can actually smell the detergent on my clothes when I hang them up which is such a treat. I've also had a chance to use the AddWash door when I dropped a pair of my son's pants on the way to the utility room... I took such pleasure in pausing the machine to pop them in.

4)How is this machine different to your previous model?
  • The sheer size of the drum is incredible. I keep going to put in a usual-sized load but have to go and find more to fill it. I love how much I can wash at once!

Finally, now that you’ve had your machine for over a week, please tell us:
5)What is your favourite feature and why?
  • It's hard to pick: the AddWash door is amazing, and I also love the drum light which is so handy for when it's dark in the evenings. The amazing range of cycles is fab, too.

6)Would you recommend the Samsung AddWash™ WW8500 to a friend? Why?
  • Wholeheartedly. It has all the bells and whistles of a usual washing machine but with the AddWash door - so useful when you have kids (or when you don't have kids, actually!). I'd definitely buy another Samsung machine after my short experience with this one.

I have a samsung wmachine with leaky seals that makes a noise like a jet engine. //Www.samsung.com

Non tester. I'd be happy with a machine that could filter out tissues left in pockets rather than covering every item in the load with bits of tissue. Also if the 30 wash actually left clothes clean that would be nice.

Non tester. I'd love a machine that balances itself and doesn't walk. Trying to install washing machines so they are perfectly balanced to be as quiet and motionless as possible is bloody hard Confused
