This thread is for the Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the AddWash™ WW8500 Washing Machine.

Here’s what Samsung have to say: “We wanted a washing machine that simply adapts to consumers, not for consumers to have to adapt to their machines. Our AddWash™ range reflects Samsung’s commitment to marrying beautiful design and practical innovations to create appliances that help be more efficient”.
Ashwin Gouveia - Senior Product Manager – Laundry (Samsung UK)

Testers:
Once your machine has arrived, please tell us:

  1. What are your first impressions of how the machine looks?
  2. Having read the instruction manual, which features are you most excited about using?

After having a few days to test your machine, we’d love to know:
3) Are you pleased with how the machine washes? Why?
4) How is this machine different to your previous model?

Finally, now that you’ve had your machine for over a week, please tell us:
5) What is your favourite feature and why?
6) Would you recommend the Samsung AddWash™ WW8500 to a friend? Why?

Please also add your review to the Mumsnet reviews section here.

Non – testers, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, please answer the following question:
If you could add a magic feature to your washing machine, what life-changing function would it have? Would it make your clothes magically repel creases, or hang up your clothes automatically? Would it have a super quick wash cycle for those nights where someone urgently needs a clean PE kit? Would it have a sensor to locate those odd socks?

Whatever your idea, please post it as a comment below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 love2shop voucher.

I'd like a "red sock detector" to stop me turning all the white towels and bedsheets pink!

minesawine · 14/12/2016 11:55

non tester - a washing machine that spins clothes really dry, not damp. I have to spin my clothes twice, it drives me mad.

Nineloves1 · 14/12/2016 11:59

Non tester. An alarm to warn me I have dropped socks en route to the machine, so I don't discover them once the wash has started.

Nineloves1 · 14/12/2016 12:03

Although actually the add wash option defeats the need.

How about if it washed the baby as well as his clothes? It could have a gentle low fill cycle, with a side to side rocking motion and supports to keep the baby upright. I have weaning babies in mind, so head and trunk control isn't an issue.

If I never had to iron another piece of clothing I'd be very happy so my dream machine would include not only taking out any creases function but also one that enables the clothes to come out dried and folded x

FairyFay · 14/12/2016 12:10

I'd like clothes to come out drier and less creased so less need to iron

CathyGlynn · 14/12/2016 12:15

Non tester: I would love my washing to come out of the washer crease free to save me hours of ironing. I would also like it to have a super quick wash, I mean like 5 minutes so that it doesn't matter if my daughter forgets to bring her PE kit home, I would still have time to do it before it was needed.

Firewall · 14/12/2016 12:35

Non tester: one that would dry, iron, fold and pair the socks so once it's done you open the door to a perfectly neat pile of laundry you simply take out and put straight into the wardrobe!

Stej7 · 14/12/2016 12:37

Non tester....it sounds silly but something to lock the washing powder/ fabric conditioner drawer. In the past week alone I've returned to the kitchen to find my little one has opened this and left it open ...or worse, opened it and filled it with his milk at least three times. Aaaa grumbly mummy who has enough washing to do without having to re-wash clothes again!

AnnieWall27 · 14/12/2016 13:06

Non tester. I'd love a hot cycle about 60 that can do a quick 20 minute was on sheets or towels when the babies have accidents in the night. Also where you can have an extra scent sprayed on your sheets to make them extra sweet smelling.

Vegangelist · 14/12/2016 14:16

Magical feature: dry and sort everyone's stuff into their wardrobes/drawers.

PorridgeAgainAbney · 14/12/2016 14:32

Non tester.
I'd like a machine that could take two duvets and three pillows in one wash without me having to go to the launderette and pay a fortune each time Wink

ewanthedreamsheep · 14/12/2016 14:57

Non-tester - decreaser!

Rachmolly80 · 14/12/2016 15:02

Non tester here.. I get a bit baffled when sorting washing, not by whites but by darks, coloureds (light and dark coloureds...) brights etc and then materials. Some 30 some 60 etc etc. I'd love (quick invent it!) a little barcode on the clothes that is read by the machine. So when you select your wash the machine reads each item as you put it in. Lovely 'ping' when it is accepted, honk (or something similar) when it isn't.. you get the idea. Even better if you bung it all in and it sorts it (bar codes again) - and spits out the unsuitable items.

mshell1231 · 14/12/2016 15:25

Non-tester- I would love to have the function to wash and dry clothes in a short space of time in the one machine. It would be a lot easier to load one machine and then have them ready to put away,

Leeanne2205 · 14/12/2016 15:30

My magic feature would be that whatever stains on clothes would be removed and white ones back too perfect whitewith a 3 yr old who likes too get v dirty I pick her up from nursery and she is covered today it was head to toe in mud teacher said she was splashing in puddles .

ChristmasTreeFairy · 14/12/2016 15:48

Final feedback on the machine.

5)What is your favourite feature and why?

It has got to be the option to add washing midway through the cycle. I've used this an awful lot and I think it's one of those things that once you get used to you don't want to go back to a machine without this function. It's such a simple idea yet so so useful and practical. Having said that, there are many functions that I have liked so it wasn't an easy decision.

6)Would you recommend the Samsung AddWash™ WW8500 to a friend? Why?

If a friend had the budget for it I'd definitely recommend it. It washes clothes very well and items come out so well spun that drying time is less than my old machine because they come out of the machine that much drier. It is expensive for a washing machine but if cost wasn't an issue it definitely would be a great machine. I love that it doesn't overly vibrate in the spin cycle and that it's so quiet. The range of washing options are fabulous and the mobile phone interaction is great if that's of interest to you. It has cleaned everything we have thrown at it so far (which is a lot!). Today I washed dhs dirty gardening clothes in the gardening wash and I don't think they have ever looked so clean. Result!

Thank you mn and Samsung for allowing me to test the washing machine.

BeMorePanda · 14/12/2016 16:03

My magic machine - washing in, folded piles of clothes out. :)

Also a shoe cleaning feature please.

DaisyDando · 14/12/2016 16:06

Non-tester. I would like my machine to keep back socks until they are paired.
And then pair them.

poopoopoo · 14/12/2016 17:11

I would have a feature that drys, sorts and folds the clothes then shoots them straight to the correct draw in the correct cupboard. QR codes on special tags might work??

Rosehips · 14/12/2016 17:22

non tester i'd like the ability to put lights, darks, delicates all in the same wash and have them come put fine

Rosehips · 14/12/2016 17:25

i'be changed my mind i want a machine where i can open the door as soon as kt's done, not stand there basket in hand waiting for the bloody door unlock click

crazydaisyuk · 14/12/2016 17:39

I'd love a washing machine that would iron and/or fold the clothes and pair up socks :)

lucyanntrevelyan · 14/12/2016 17:44

Magic feature - no more tissues in the wash!

My son likes watching the wash when I put it on, so it would be nice for him to have a fun interactive display on the door for him to watch and interact with for each part of the cycle for example, like bursting bubbles or trying to catch fish etc.
