This thread is for the Mumsnetters who are currently testing out the AddWash™ WW8500 Washing Machine.

Here’s what Samsung have to say: “We wanted a washing machine that simply adapts to consumers, not for consumers to have to adapt to their machines. Our AddWash™ range reflects Samsung’s commitment to marrying beautiful design and practical innovations to create appliances that help be more efficient”.
Ashwin Gouveia - Senior Product Manager – Laundry (Samsung UK)

Testers:
Once your machine has arrived, please tell us:

  1. What are your first impressions of how the machine looks?
  2. Having read the instruction manual, which features are you most excited about using?

After having a few days to test your machine, we’d love to know:
  3. Are you pleased with how the machine washes? Why?
  4. How is this machine different to your previous model?

Finally, now that you’ve had your machine for over a week, please tell us:
  5. What is your favourite feature and why?
  6. Would you recommend the Samsung AddWash™ WW8500 to a friend? Why?

Please also add your review to the Mumsnet reviews section here.

Non – testers, for the chance to win a £300 voucher, please answer the following question:
If you could add a magic feature to your washing machine, what life-changing function would it have? Would it make your clothes magically repel creases, or hang up your clothes automatically? Would it have a super quick wash cycle for those nights where someone urgently needs a clean PE kit? Would it have a sensor to locate those odd socks?

Whatever your idea, please post it as a comment below. All who post a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 love2shop voucher.

    Standard Insight T&Cs Apply
    Thanks,
    MNHQ

Non tester. An optional eminder beep every half an hour or so if you haven't got the washing out. An easy to remove and easy to clean drawer and drawer slot- I've never worked out how to get the black gunk right out.

If my washer/dryer had a magic feature it would be that it would have an automatic input/output. I prepare clothes ready to go in and once my load is washed and dried it throws the clean load into my basket and my dirty clothes are pulled into the machine and washed and dried. This system may be repeated as many times as necessary. (All of this can also be done from an app on my phone whilst I'm away from the house)

Since having my DS, I've never done so much washing and it feels so time consuming too!!!

I've had the machine a few days now so coming back with more feedback.

3)Are you pleased with how the machine washes? Why?

Yes I'm very pleased with the machine. Everything I've thrown in it has come out clean even very mucky items where dd has managed to get food down herself. I'm particularly pleased with how quiet the machine is and how much less shake there is on the floor around the machine. The controls are actually very straight forward and simple (despite before using thinking they might be confusing with the amount of options and choice). The amount I can fit in the machine is epic.

4)How is this machine different to your previous model?

Firstly, it fits a huge amount more washing in the drum, which is amazing. It has a lot more choice in types of wash and setting for specific purposes (e.g. A baby wash, gardening wash etc). There's also an eco wash my old machine didn't have. It has the function of operating via an app which definitely was no where near the technology of my old washing machine and the option of adding items in through the little opening mid wash is brilliant as we are always forgetting a stray sock etc to go in the machine. It also is so much more quiet than our old machine and barely shakes when it spins (our old machine was on two anti shock mats and still shook like crazy whereas this is flat on the floor and barely any floor shake on wood floor). It does come out more into the room than our previous model as it's deeper which might be an important consideration for some. Some of the washes are actually longer than our old machine which I assume is an eco function to save energy, but other than that in every way it is better than our last machine.

Non-tester. I'd like a machine that could do a white load and coloured load at the same time, but keep the water separate so you didn't get colours running. That way I wouldn't have to wait until I had a full load of whites/colours and effectively do 2 washes at once.

Non-Tester here - My family consists of me, my husband and our 4 DC, ranging in age from 21 to 10. I would love my machine to have the facility to sort the washing into six piles, one for each of us. My children are quite good at transferring washing from machine to dryer but then it is left to me to fold and sort all the clothing - a task I hate.

Non-tester-a magical instant stain removal function!

I would love a sensor that detected tissue or indeed toy cars that then bang round the machine for an hour!
If it beeped and told me it detected something and gave me option to remove it that would be awesome!

For my own machine I would love a feature to stop it knocking itself off balance and travelling across the floor!

My magic feature would be to stop my clothes getting washed out - so annoying when a piece of clothing starts to bobble, fade or sag after a few washes. I want my clothes to look nice and new for much longer!

Self folding feature and to intelligently separate what can be tumble dried and what cant

Non- tester. I have always wanted a machine that would magically wash, dry, de-crease and fold my clothes. I know this will never happen in my lifetime!

I'd love it if my washing machine would instantly and gently wash and dry my daughters' favourite cuddly toys. They get dragged everywhere and are so stinky!

Non tester: it's been said many times but I'd love a machine that could fold the clothes and put them away in the drawers. For me, that's the worst part of doing laundry and I often end up picking clean clothes out of the clean basket to wear!

I would love a machine that held a large amount of powder and dosed my washing automatically so that I didn't have to add it every time.

An instant stain removal feature for those muddy stains, food spills and paint splashes that happen several tines each day with toddlers!

YesThisIsMe · 12/12/2016 13:55

Non-tester. The thing that annoys me most about doing the washing is sorting it out by weight/fabric before I put it in the tumble dryer so I think that I'd like a magic washing machine that scans the labels with a laser and outputs the clean wet washing through three chutes, marked "Cottons", "synthetics" and "DO NOT TUMBLE"

If you wash the detergent drawer with sterilising solution eg Milton it will prevent black mould, also wipe solution around door seal.

My magic feature would be a dry clean setting to save having to take them to the dry cleaners.

I'd like a washing machine that did it all; dry, iron, sort into piles and put it all away!

I'd make mine controllable by WiFi, so I can load clothes whenever but tell it while I'm out when to start, and it'd tell me when it's done.

A machine were the clothes came out clean, dry and ironed - wouldn't that be fab (and save a whole load of time!!)

Ooo I would have a magical machine that has a clothes magnet so I didn't have to collect them all from ds's floor every bloody day.

I would like a machine that could wash clothes that normally have to go to the dry cleaners, i.e. One with a special dry cleaning cycle.

Report
MaryBS · 12/12/2016 14:45

I would have a feature that recognised what setting my husband had used, and analyse the clothes to see if he had put it on too hot a setting, or put something red in that was likely to run, and either warn me or automatically adjust.
