This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

I was not expecting this deodorant to be very effective, as i am very sweaty and normally use an extreme anti perspirant from Sure.

I have been surprised to find it has made me less sweaty (this wasn;t advertised?) and also deodorised. It's not infallible, but still much better than the chemically laden one I'm used to.

Not happy with the application format though, it drips down my sides when I spray it on armpits, and it's really hard to spray on feet without then getting drips on the carpet.

Starla268 · 15/09/2016 16:48

First impressions:

Really like the packaging, felt it would look nice on my shelf.

On opening it up there were crystallised bits around the inside of the lid which was a bit off putting - not sure if it had leaked a bit.

The two lids seemed overkill and would make it a pain to use on a day to day basis, I didn't end up putting the little inside lid back on.

I really liked the smell, thought it was fresh and not overpowering which is what I want as a pregnant woman who is quite sensitive to smells!

I liked the spray rather than a roll on which always feels a bit more hygienic to me.

It goes on quite wet which I'm not used to and takes a while to completely dry which could cause problems when using it in a rush (which I often am) so I shall see how I go with this using it regularly.

lotusisaddictive · 15/09/2016 16:59

I thought it looked nice but two lids is a bit daft. I'm pregnant and have been having really meaty musty body odour even an hour after showering so I am interested it how this product holds up.

First few times it was great even though I wasn't too sure in the scent. I'll continue to use for the coming weeks and see how it goes.

BumpPower · 15/09/2016 17:27

Agree with pp. The product smelt like v chemically baby wipes when applied and even when I opened the package it was posted in! BUT it doesn't smell after a few seconds of wearing and so far has worked really well in this hot and sticky weather. I like the pump spray and all seems great.

Jenni2legs · 15/09/2016 17:36

I'm so shocked by this product WORKING! I've bought all sorts of natural deodorants and they have without fail sucked - to the point of making smell worse than just not using anything.
Although I thought the same as others - it smells weird when applying and it's super runny, if the price of this stuff is inline with normal products I will switch to it.

Hez2386 · 15/09/2016 17:42

First impressions of this product are not too good.
I like the look of the product, but I agree with many of previous posters regarding the strange smell. I also found the product very wet to use, which I found very uncomfortable. I think this alone would put me off purchasing it.

everdene · 15/09/2016 17:48

Finally a natural deodorant that works efficiently and is mess-free and easy!

I really like the smell too (surprised others don't as my nose is super-sensitive to smells at the moment).

The two lids is a bit unnecessary but I am really impressed so far. I used a PitRok crystal a few years ago and it stopped me smelling but I sweated like a horse.

LittleMoonbuggy · 15/09/2016 18:13

I liked the packaging design, and didn't mind the scent.
After i applied the product, it took a while to dry, especially in the heatwave temperatures of recent days. I sat by a breezy window for a few minutes to help it dry quicker which helped.
I suspect that this wasn't the best week to test the product, with the unusually high temperatures, as I found I ended up feeling sticky and sweaty by the end of the morning. It may well be a different case on a cooler day, and being heavily pregnant I find I sweat more than usual anyway.
I will be keen to continue using the product after the heatwave has passed.

HP07 · 15/09/2016 18:43

My initial thoughts are that the product is great, ie I don't find myself sweating much even though heavily pregnant in this heat (5 days from due) and even if I do I don't notice any sweaty smells which I usually would. I would like it to be scented as that would add to the freshness and also in general I would use an aerosol so it dries immediately and I can put clothes on straight away. I find I have to wait for a while for this to dry which can be a bit inconvenient. Overall my first impressions are good.

oldjacksscrote · 15/09/2016 18:44

I really like the look of the bottle, the two cap idea is good too.

I'm not keen on the smell and it seems to take a while to dry which is a pain when you're trying to get ready with a toddler and baby.

It kept me dry on quite a muggy day but there was defiantly an odour which was a bit embarrassing.

I definitely felt better breastfeeding knowing my lo wasn't near any harsh chemicals

Hopelass · 15/09/2016 18:57

Good first impressions. It works for me, I didn't find it took too long to dry and the slight scent is subtle and inoffensive. A bit like a salty type smell. I noticed no body odour and it kept my underarms dry. Not really noticed any change to underarm skin. I've been using it around 4-5 days now. The double lid is a bit annoying.

user1471466422 · 15/09/2016 19:05

I like it, but I don't like the smell and am not using both lids. Think it might leak if taken on holiday, too.
It seems to work. No irritation yet but stings when applied after shaving on shower.

Feltedbump · 15/09/2016 19:09

Like the packaging - looks lovely on the shelf!!
Like the distribution of the spray - seems to coat my underarm well. Easy to apply. Like most deodorants you have to waft around for a bit waiting for it to dry before you put a top on. However haven't seen any marks on my tops/t-shirts which I sometimes get with my usual brands.
Not caused any irritation and I have really sensitive skin since pregnancy. And not hurt applying after shaving (normally get a sting!)
Agree with others on the slightly strange smell initially when spraying but pleased there is no fragrance. As, if I want to wear perfume, there is no clash between two scents.
Seems to be working ok - no one has complained yet!!
Only slight complaint - and not one I think you will change but....the name PitRock! Has always slightly put me off buying it before!!! And made DH giggle.

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 15/09/2016 19:13

I haven't read any other reviews yet.

This is day 4 I think of using the deodorant. First impressions, the packaging is lovely, clear and simple and a nice colour. I was expecting a solid stick like the normal pitrok so was very surprised it was a spray. However, I like the spray and it is fine enough. My husband has a problem with the stick disintegrating which wouldn't happen with a spray so that's a bonus.

I have to say I've been totally amazed at how good it is. I would normally use a dove antiperspirant deodorant and although it's ok I still sweat and there is definitely smell by the end of the day! However, using the pitrok I've had very little odour at all even with the immense heat we've had this last week. Really really pleased so far!

ImBrian · 15/09/2016 19:20

I've been only trying this for a couple of days and it seems ok. I normally use a roll on so I'm not very keen on the spray and it does leave you rather wet under the pits. Scent wise it does have a smell but it's not particularly strong and is pleasant enough.
I'm fairly active and on normal dsys it seems to have done the job.

MsAtomicBomb · 15/09/2016 19:21

I'm really liking this deodorant so far. Like another tester mine also leaked in the packaging so I would be wary of packing it in a suitcase for example for fear of it leaking all over my clothes.

I find the smell of the product quite pleasant. The spray applicator was tricky to use at first (seemed to squirt everywhere) but I've got the hang of it now. I give each armpit two or three sprays and i must say it does take a lot longer than a minute to dry, but perhaps I'm applying too much.

Having used this on the recent hot days we've had I did end up a bit whiffy by the end of the day, but i do when using normal deodorant on very hot days anyway.

It's very nice not to have white marks all over my clothes which seemed to happen to me whatever deodorant I used, and I can apply this without coughing and spluttering at the horrid aerosol smell and don't have to worry about my children breathing it in either.

Hoping it improves with further use.

MakeLemonade · 15/09/2016 19:22

So far so good! It's been boiling here and it's definitely as effective my usual deodorant.

I'm not sure of the odour of the spray itself though, it's a bit strange. That said, it doesn't hang around as a smell so it wouldn't be a deal breaker in terms of using it again.

I usually use a roll on so getting used to the spray format, I like that it's not an aerosol and the packaging is nice.

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 15/09/2016 19:27

After reading a few other reviews,I'd like to add that I didn't really notice a smell but that could be because my husband has used the solid pitrok so I'm used to it! Also the spray double lid is a little faffy but I'd much rather that than use an aerosol so it's a small price to pay. Yes it does run down your arms a little bit and if you forget to put it on after a shower you can't just squirt under your clothes so easily! But that's just habit.

I compared the ingredients to my normal Dove one and it's very nice to read a list and either know what each thing is or be able to guess and know it's natural rather than the long list of chemical names on the Dove one!

TheShrew · 15/09/2016 19:40

So far (three days in) I really like the product. The packaging is great and it's held up well in the 30 degree heat of the last few days, I also quite like the smell. It seems to work well, I'm definitely not stinky and haven't had any embarrassing wet patches! I'm pleasantly surprised as I didn't have particularly high hopes, loads of deodorants don't work for me. Here's to the next 10 days...

CumbrianExile · 15/09/2016 19:41

I have only used it today (only picked it up yesterday!) and am impressed.

Like others I found the initial smell off putting, but it disappeared very quickly. The wetness was also a little off putting. However, it has been really humid today and I don't smell.

Packaging is nice, looks very posh! Looking forward to giving it a full test over the next few weeks.

amusedbouche · 15/09/2016 19:41

The deodorant arrived the week I stopped breastfeeding, which is a real shame as it was exactly the sort of thing I wanted. I really like the deodorant, very subtle fragrance and I like the pump spray. So far, so good - even in this heatwave.

velbels · 15/09/2016 19:47

I received this in the post with both lids having fallen off and it had leaked into the packaging.

I used it on the first day after my shower and it dried a little slower than the natural deodorant that I have been using and I did find the spray not as nice as a roll on but that is just personal preference.

Overall so far it has been ok it didn't cope with the really hot days this week and one day by after lunch I was a bit smelly.

Chocolatekeepsmesane · 15/09/2016 19:48

I've been using this since Sunday, first impressions were that it looked good and I was looking forward to using it as I'm allergic to most deodorants.
The smell is fairly neutral, the 2 lids are a bit of a pain. However when I apply it, it runs down my side and arm if I lower it. By around 5pm I am starting to get a bit smelly though, maybe because it ran down my side in the morning? Also if I want to reapply it to prevent getting smelly should I be having another shower? Not always practical or possible.

muddypuddled · 15/09/2016 20:00

First impressions, it looks nice but I do think the double lid is a bit wasteful. I'm not too keen on the smell but I think that's because I'm used to perfumed deodorants. It does feel like it takes a while for it to dry too when I'm getting dressed although I haven't yet noticed any marks on my clothes. I do feel that my under arms are less sore though and that I'm not beginning to smell in this heat!!

littlemonkeymum · 15/09/2016 20:01

It arrived having leaked a bit in the envelope, despite having an extra lid (which annoyed me a bit when putting on before setting off for work in a hurry). It did sting a little after I had shaved but this soon passed. I actually liked the subtle smell and though I was a bit apprehensive about lasting a long commute and day at work in this heat I can't say I found any issues with smell (used 5/6 sprays per armpit though)! So far so good, I like the fact that it's a natural product but not sure if I am using it up too quickly!!
