This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

I've been using it for the last 3 days. Not a fan of the double kids. I don't like putting it on. I feel really damp for a few minutes after and a couple of times it has run down my side. The ingredients list looks good and so far it hasn't irritated my sensitive skin. It has been 30 degrees the last few days which is unheard of around here! I have felt sweaty and damp at times but have not been able to notice a body odour smell and neither has my partner.

MotherOfCats · 15/09/2016 11:42

Initial impressions...nice bottle but found the directions on the back a bit confusing (it says use directly after washing but what if I haven't showered that day?). Not keen on the smell as I'm used to using perfumes products. However, I've definitely found it to be gentle on my sensitive skin and it does the job well. On a normal day it has kept me dry and odourless. During the heatwave it hasn't faired quite so well but that's to be expected. One thing i do really like is that it doesn't seem to leave sticky white marks on my clothes like my regular deoderant.

VivaHate · 15/09/2016 11:44

So far I am definitely a fan! Been using daily since Monday and I've noticed a difference from the late day "whiffiness" I get from my usual aluminium free deodorant. I like the smell and the fact I feel better about using this while breastfeeding but I agree with other posters who say it goes on very wet.

Icedsilhouette · 15/09/2016 11:45

As a new first time mum to a 6 day old, this has already created a good impression. I love that it uses a natural spray rather than aerosol, it doesn't wake my little girl when I use it. I like that there is no strong scent, the last thing I'd want is to smell really chemical at this point. Also, as someone who has suffered with really sore armpits caused by deodorant before, I've been impressed that my armpits have remained soft. Finally, it seems to work as a deodorant too!

cgraves · 15/09/2016 11:48

I was first not too too keen on the smell BUT there is no sweat at all, and in that sunshine it is brilliant! Baby is also very happy to breastfeed without being intoxicated by either bad sweat or chemical deodorants !

LurkingQuietly · 15/09/2016 11:48

I am not sure about the spray rather than aerosol, I'll be honest. Seems harder to direct! And it goes on very wet. I don't really like the fact it's odourless - I hadn't realised it before but I like the fact I can smell my deodorant!

So far, only a little pongy, but let's be honest, it's been ridiculously hot in London! I'll keep trying it.

Roooster · 15/09/2016 11:49

Perfect timing, this is really being tested in the heat this week and coming up well!

A bit confused about application, as normally i would reapply deodorant if i've been out all day and then do some exercise but i've reluctantly avoided doing this (i think as per the instructions). Really pleased as it seems to be performing really well and i don't think i am smelly at all!

So far really like the product, not had any problems with the bottle spilling and great that it doesn't contain any of the nasties in normal deodorants.

NEMSparkle · 15/09/2016 11:51

Mine arrived yesterday. Thought it felt a little
Sticky when first tried but defiantly withstood yesterday's heat. Will see how it goes, agree about the double lid somewhat excessive!

tackyprincess · 15/09/2016 11:52

When I first opened this I really liked the design of the product. Initially I really didn't like the smell of this product, however as the days have gone on I have got used to it. I don't like the 'wet' feeling after use but I have persevered with it and I can honestly say there is a big difference in the skin under my armpits. I have recently started running again and in this weather have been getting very sweaty whilst doing it. The first couple of days I was really tempted to use my usual deodorant however I resisted and this has actually been a lot better than my usual brand! Overall so far I have been pleasantly surprised by this product!

WhereDoAllThePokemonGo · 15/09/2016 11:53

I've been using this for a week now, and it's much more effective than I thought it might be! I must admit that I really don't like the smell at all, and it makes me feel nauseous (could be due to my super sensitive pregnancy nose). However as others have said, it does fade as it dries. I put it on immediately after towelling down following a shower, and let it dry for a good 10-15 minutes before I get dressed. So far I have remained dry all day, with absolutely no whiff from my armpits, even on warm days. However, I haven't put it to the test with a spin class so I don't know how it would stand up to more heavy duty use.

Overall, am pleased with the performance and really like the fact it has no nasty ingredients, but the smell would really put me off re-purchasing.

notasupermummy · 15/09/2016 11:53

My first impressions are nice, attractive packaging, was pleasantly surprised by the pump action spray which made application quick and mess free, it initially has a mild fragrance but once dry it has no fragrance, I like this as there is no worry about a clash with my perfume sent (one less thing to worry about). It's comfortable, freshness lasts all day and has not caused any nasty reactions on my sensitive skin, so far thumbs up, think I may become a Pitrock convert Smile

poopoopoo · 15/09/2016 11:55

I am really impressed! I have been using the product for a few days now and it has been extremely hot, I have felt fresh and clean with no smells from my armpits. I am happy to use this product whilst breastfeeding which is my worry about other deodorants. I feel confident that I will not be embarrassed by body odour in the heat, so feel I will continue to use PitROK. The packaging is nice, I would like to see a small handbag size. Not really sure you need two lids? The spray is also very refreshing, which is particularly nice on hot days. There is a slight pleasant scent which seems to disappear; I am glad it does not have a 'smell' as I find I get fed up with scents of deodorants and do not want to expose my baby to perfumes anyway. My underarm skin feels totally comfortable with no irritation.
I like the way the instructions tell to you to shower before applying the product! It is also good to see the bottle is recyclable Smile

GipsyDanger · 15/09/2016 11:55

I'm giving it 👍🏻👍🏻
Just been for a walk today and I'm still dry with no bad smell. I really like it, not had any issues with my skin, the scent if there is one is very subtle won't interfere with perfume.

Tatiebee · 15/09/2016 12:01

The bottle is quite pretty and might catch the eye on the shelf, it's unscented which I prefer so as not to transfer scent to the baby when breastfeeding. I used it after a shower and as I have psoriasis I would usually experience some stinging but there was none with this. It didn't take long to dry and even on a hot day I felt fresh.

Ilikesweetpeas · 15/09/2016 12:02

I'm happy with the effects of this but not keen that it's so wet when you apply it. It drips down your body when you spray it on and like a previous poster I use a quick blast with the hairdryer to dry it! However it's done it's job and kept me whiff free even during the last couple of warm days.

MotherFeeder · 15/09/2016 12:03

I've been using it for 4 days now and first impressions are good. I think the packaging/ colours and design are very nondescript and this wouldn't jump out at me on the shelf.
I like the simplicity of using this product vs the original crystal rock you dip in water, although I have noticed that it runs down my sides and need to monitor how many pumps are enough before I've used too much.
As I wear unscented products (and stopped when I had a baby), I haven't noticed any lingering odour.
Another plus point is that it's a natural product and it's not clogging up my pores.
The only thing that concerns is me is that I have felt the need to reapply in the afternoon as my underarms smell sweaty - this could be due to the heat or the fact I sweat a lot.
Personally, I will buy this product again as it ticks more positives than negatives for me.

newtothenet · 15/09/2016 12:11

I don't like this product is all, I'm sorry to say. I have to have a tissue at the ready to catch the drips because it's so water it just runs down my arm when I apply it. It smells really unpleasant. I'm not pregnant but I think if I was it would definitely make me feel queasy applying it first thing in the morning. I don't like the name "Pitrock" and I'm not keen on "sweat well" either. I feel hit and smelly after a day at work which I don't with my normal deodorant.

Titsalinabumsquash · 15/09/2016 12:11

First impressions,

I didn't like the double lid, I don't think the little inside one is needed.

I love that its pump spray rather than aerosol or roll on.

I don't like the smell I'm afraid, either it's unscented or it's not, it's got a scent to it but it's a bit meh.

I like that it's light not sticky.

AbbeyRoadCrossing · 15/09/2016 12:13

Only just received here so will feedback again later. Initial impressions are that I like the lack of smell and that it doesn't feel like a deodorant going on.

4isplenty · 15/09/2016 12:14

My first impression was that it looks very nice, my partner saw it and commented also 'this looks posh' which is code for expensive. I didnt think that I would like it, the pump action was not what I was used to, it smelled unusual and as for waiting for it to dry? So far all negatives. To say the least.
So nobody was more surprised than me to discover that it really is the most amazing product. I usually wear an antiperspirant spray and reapply throughout the day, ending with a bit of BO sweatiness before bed. I sometimes get broken, dry skin around my armpit and flaky white powder from the spray (invisible? No.) This has all gone, one application in the morning and thats it. It doesnt take long to dry at all. Nobody was more surprised than me about how amazing this is, and my partner even commented (unprompted) that I smelled nice.
I feel like stopping people in the street and asking them to smell me!!
I won't, but the desire is there :)
I will totally by this when mine runs out. And recommend it to anyone who will listen. Fantastic, I'm so happy I was chosen to trial this product, total life changer :)

squeezed · 15/09/2016 12:15

The idea of this product is great, especially when breastfeeding. It seems to do the job OK, but I haven't tried it at the gym yet. The difficulty I have had, which probably makes me sound very unclean, is the need to apply it after showering. This isn't always possible with a baby and toddler and I tend to shower at night when I have the time.
I'm not keen on the the smell of the product, but as other posters have said that it takes time to get used to I'll see how it goes.

ChorusLine69 · 15/09/2016 12:17

I really like the fact that it's so gentle on my skin, I'm 7 weeks post partum and had been reacting to ordinary aerosol deodorant and with this I've had no itching etc I like the bottle and the pump spray too. I have been a bit paranoid with the very hot weather that it won't last the whole day as I do kind of miss the fresh smell of my usual deodorant but so far it has seemed to be effective and keep me smell free!

BreakHerOffAKitKat · 15/09/2016 12:19

I was really excited to try this product as I've always suffered with extremely sensitive skin in my armpits!

I love the look of the packaging and found the pump spray easy to use. Aerosols tend to fill the room with spray but this is much more controlled so I can apply it with my baby in the room and not worry about her inhale a deodorant cloud

The smell is pleasant - clean and fresh and so far seems to be working, nobody has avoided standing next to me.

So far I'm impressed but I'll see how it fares after my exercise class tomorrow

MummyIsh · 15/09/2016 12:22

Nice packaging and I like the fact there's another lid inside the bigger lid to stop any spillages or sprays in your bag. I'm really, really not keen on the scent though - it smells sour to me, like bad BO! Unfortunately this has made me quite conscious in using it, but I finish for maternity next week so I'll use it more at home and feedback in a few weeks.

babyinthacorner · 15/09/2016 12:25

I'm very close to absolutely loving this deodorant!

So far, it's worked brilliantly on very hot and sweaty days - I don't sweat very much, but I've been feeling a bit damp under the armpits the past few (boiling!) days. I was worried that I'd therefore smell of sweat, but hard as I sniffed, I couldn't smell ANYTHING! I'm seriously impressed - cannot fault it at all in that respect. I've also had no irritation whatsoever, even applying it immediately after shaving.

The only downside is the spray and lack of fragrance. I find it a bit uncomfortable to have wet underarms whilst waiting for it to dry, and I've sprayed myself in the mouth/ear/hair quite a few times in my quest to cover my whole armpit area! It also runs down my sides when I've sprayed too much - although there's nothing wrong with that seeing as though there are no harsh chemicals in it! I do love the smell of some of my old deodorants and I miss that a bit. The upside is that the whole house doesn't have to breathe in the smell after I've sprayed and it doesn't interfere with my perfume scent.

If I can get over those minor issues, I'll definitely be recommending Pitrock to all and sundry!
