This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

I'm on day 4 and really like this product. I like a smell of it and it dries quick enough. I usually use strong 48h stuff so was worried it wasn't going to work but so far it has!

woodwaj · 15/09/2016 20:15

Currently on day 3.

I like the packaging. The double cap doesnt really bother me i just chucked one away. Mine did leak a bit on arrival.

I have an 18 month old and over the last couple of weeks particularly ive been very conscious of my smell! A change of deodorant was very much needed.

I like the deodorant it works well and i dont notice any smell at all even at the end of the day.

I did get chased by a wasp yesterday and felt a little sticky afterwards but still smell free

My only complaint so far is it takes too long to dry and because its a wet spray i think id prefer a roller ball to a spray so i can control application better

firsttimemum15 · 15/09/2016 20:18

Mines arrived. Exciting. Finally a fully natural paraben,SLS, chemical free deodorant. I've used daily. I am a bit unsure of the scent but carrying on because I love the idea of this however at the moment I don't think it's giving me the protection I need but it's been boiling here. However I think the initial smell of it is a bit sweaty but I know 4 weeks or so of continual use is recommended so I will keep testing.

Thanks for picking me

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 15/09/2016 20:21

I have been using for 5days now and in the hot weather it has really performed well no stinks even on clothes however ii don't like the two lids its fiddly and unnecessary and the liquid does run when applied.

Nectarines · 15/09/2016 20:29

So far so good.

I agree with others that it is a bit wet for a while after applying but, that aside, I feel fresh all day.

I'm breastfeeding my son and like the idea that I won't expose him to chemicals like I did when using aerosol antiperspirant.

The bottle looks good.

I'd buy it again if not too expensive.

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 15/09/2016 20:30

I like it. It seems to work well at keeping sweaty smells at bay and if anything I feel fresher than with my normal aerosol deodorants. I haven't noticed any issues with wetness when applying: it seems to dry pretty quickly to me. It's certainly not wetter than a roll-on: I don't normally use them because I hate how they take ages to dry!

The smell is unusual, but it doesn't last anyway. My DH has commented that he much prefers it to normal spray deodorants, which linger in the air and are kind of "chokey" feeling. I particularly don't like that around my baby DD, so this is a big improvement.

I don't really like the packaging. I think it looks cheap (although I bet the product won't be!) and a bit old-ladyish. It's not very eye-catching: it reminds me of the type of thing that is on the very bottom shelf at Boots. The pump action spray is fine, but I'm concerned it might be wasteful as I've found that often with that type of bottle the tubing stops reliably sucking up enough liquid to spray whilst there is still tons left in there. The double lid also seems totally pointless.

EmandLaus · 15/09/2016 20:32

Great looking bottle, think the double lid is pointless and a potential choking hazard that isn't necessary.
I apply five sprays but find it dripping onto my side, I daren't use any less as I don't want to smell at work !!!
Many fragrances I have used can be a catalyst for my migraines however due to being fragrance free it's having no effect on that at all.

I will keep good night with it, I think it could be a long term winner for me xxx

Pumpkinmoon · 15/09/2016 20:34

Day 1 of testing today. Unfortunately the product had leaked slightly in the Jiffy bag and both lids had managed to come off. I think because of this the nozzle was slightly blocked and so it doesn't spray very well.

I love the fact it's not an aerosol, as a new mum I do worry about using those around a baby (aerosols usually make my throat sore).

The slight smell did not bother me and the drying time was decent.

I had a very busy day moving around in the heat and my usually dry armpits were very wet. When I got home I did the sniff test and there was a very faint smell of body odour which I don't usually get.

Interested to see if things improve as the days go on.

Gruplo1 · 15/09/2016 20:35

I like the packaging and I haven't noticed a smell. It's working well in some really hot conditions so so far I'm impressed. It does sting a little sometimes when I put it on though

PotteringAlong · 15/09/2016 20:38

I'm really impressed too. I'd buy it again (based on tests so far!). It does drip a bit when first applied but only on my right side so I wonder if I'm holding it a bit close because I'm right handed? I might try putting it on with my left hand tomorrow.

couldntlovethebearmore · 15/09/2016 20:40

The bottle is a good size and looks relatively attractive. Scent although meant to be unscented is quite unpleasant.
I don't think this is effective for me in preventing body odour and I do follow the application instructions however my armpits feel less raw and dry than usual.
Will add more feedback in a couple of weeks

Reubymum · 15/09/2016 21:13

I really liked the packaging, found it a bit odd at first as not used to the wetter feel of the spray. I have to admit to not liking the smell, if I was pregnant that would have set my sickness off. It has worked well but found the real hot days and teaching in a classroom without aircon made me worried I smelt. Did use on the feet today to see, now that worked well!! Sorry tmi???

frenchielala · 15/09/2016 21:37

I really like it and I wasn't expecting to. I always use unscented deodorants - normally the Mitchum one and I've always been a little worried about the ingredients list. Tried the rock sticks before and never got on with them which is why I'm so surprised I like this one! I can't smell this when it goes on or all day, it dries quickly and keeps me fresh all day. Unless my opinion changes in the coming weeks I would deffo buy again when it's finished

Littlebear88 · 15/09/2016 21:40

First impressions- nice bottle, good that it's not an aerosol! Scent doesn't bother me as it fades after a few minutes (great if your breastfeeding!) first day I wore it I did feel a bit damp under arm but that has improved as I've continued to use it! (Also might be crazy postpartum hormones!)

caromacx · 15/09/2016 21:55

First impressions are that I like the bottle though 2 caps seems a little excessive. Don't mind the scent though it's not truly 'unscented'! Very pleased to see natural and organised ingredients and look forward to de-clogging my pores.

LeanneShergold · 15/09/2016 21:56

Thank you for selecting me to test this product. Since becoming aware of aluminium and the potential negative health issues it may (or may not) cause, I have been looking at aluminium free deodorant.
On first impressions the packaging is pretty and looks clean and fresh. However, I don't understand why there are two caps?
The smell is slightly strange, but once it's dried it doesn't smell at all. I actually haven't noticed myself sweating much or any body odour smell since using it, very impressed!!!!

I use it straight after I shower as per the instructions and I'm really surprised at how well it works! :-)

Pinkangel23 · 15/09/2016 22:13

Good packaging of deodarant, unsure about the smell however it is an effective deodorant that dries quicker than roll on.

MumOfTwoMasterOfNone · 15/09/2016 22:24

I actually can't believe it...I'm still completely fresh after a whole day which has been very hot! I'm still breastfeeding and I haven't found any other deodorant that can do that. If this carries on, I'll definitely buy this product in the future as I've really been struggling to find something, even with extra strength deodorants.
I've been really self conscious since having my first DC about this, so I'm really, really happy with this product.

hanliying · 15/09/2016 22:29

i love the bottle design as it is subtle and mild color. It also smells nice, not too strong.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 15/09/2016 22:40

Been using it for a few days and I am really surprised how good it is!

I've previously found I have to use 48 hour antiperspirants like Mitchum to stay stink-free but since getting pregnant I've been wary about what products I use.

After a few days use I am ending the day odour free and it is really nice to be left with soft smooth underarms rather than having a chalky flaky residue.

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 15/09/2016 22:58

Love the packaging and graphics. Quite happy to use a pump spray as hate aerosols but the two lids had come off in the jiffy bag during transit and it'd leaked a bit. I'd be worried about putting it into a gym bag or traveling with it because of this.
I like the fact that there is no noticeable scent once on and dry. Seems to be keeping me feeling fresh too even after the warm weather. I've also sprayed some on my feet post shower and I think they feel a bit fresher too!
I'm having a flare up of my eczema on my hands currently and this is usually the first sign that I'll get more elsewhere. I'd normally stop using deodorant as I'll get irritation on my underarms, particularly where my bra rubs but I've had nothing with PitROK so far which is a pleasant surprise.
I shall keep using and report back if anything changes!
Thanks Smile

RockCrushesLizard · 15/09/2016 23:05

First impressions-
I tried it today for the first time. It was very lightly scented, and took about the same time as my usual roll on to dry.
It was a very sticky hot day here, and after 12 hours, I hadn't noticed any dampness, and while there was a little underarm smell (ie if I put my nose down to have a good sniff) by evening, it was less than I have with Mitchum after s long day.
The only negative so far is that I wasn't sure how much to apply, so was pretty liberal with it, so I fear it may not last long...

Backhometothenorth · 15/09/2016 23:20

First impressions: packaging is quite attractive but I fear it would not draw me in if it were on a supermarket shelf. Product applies easily although seems a bit odd if accustomed to a roll on- scent is slightly off-putting. After a day of wear over this very warm week, I seem to have stayed quite fresh although I feel less confident than with my usual deodorant.

Tiredmumno1 · 15/09/2016 23:48

My first impression after receiving it was the look was fine and not over the top. I really thought the double lid was a clever idea. I am another one that also likes how it's not as harsh as an aerosol, no need to panic whether it's going to hurt now. I know others have complained about the wetness, but to be fair it does state it on the bottle that it'll take a minute to dry (which is fine, I do arm exercises for a minute Grin). I have had no irritation or pain at all and I have been using it for a few days.

We will see how it pans out, but for now, I am pleasantly surprised Smile.

Cineraria · 16/09/2016 01:27

I've been really pleased with this product. Thanks for the chance to test it.

I had expected to like it as I'd liked using the Pitrock solid crystal deodorant previously (except for finding it messy and easy to break) and the idea of something similar in a more convenient form was very appealing.

I quite liked the mild smell and the fact that it feels like I have nothing on my skin when I'm using it. No marks on clothes is great too. I haven't experienced any irritation or dryness but then I don't get that from other deodorants either.

It's been very successful for me over some very hot and humid days; I haven't noticed that I've smelt at all.

My only grumble would be that the spray attachment seems to give a very narrow spray so I find I have to spray lots of times to get a good coverage. This leaves my skin quite wet. That's a small thing, though. I would have been happy with it if I'd bought it.
