This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

Initially I'm a bit unsure. The scent is nice but i can't truly trust it yet as I've had to apply my normal deodorant on top during the day. Although, I have applied it after my shower at night and I've felt fresh in the morning. That being said, i am not a particularly sweaty person anyway. For those with sensitive skin or those during pregnancy I think it's fabulous for the piece of mind it gives being natural.

Weemargaret · 15/09/2016 12:28

When it arrived, I wasn't convinced it would be very effective. I usually prefer products with some scent and this put me off too. I have been using it now for three days. I put it on straight after my shower in the morning. I lead quite an active and busy life and usually have to reapply deodorant throughout the day. For the last three days I haven't had to do this. It has been very effective and hasn't irritated my skin at all, like spray deodorants usually do. I am very impressed so far. The only issue is that I am unsure how much to spray each time I use it. I usually soak the skin to ensure that I am putting on enough but I could be wasting the product which I don't like doing.
First impressions overall are very good! Thank you for letting me try it.

icclemunchy · 15/09/2016 12:30

First impressions, I like the bottle and the squirt top rather than an aerosol, there's an underlying scent on first spraying but it fades as the product drys.

I've had to get used to leaving it to dry rather than getting dressed straight away but it seems to work well so far including after a couple of particularly hot school runs!

Allhallowseve · 15/09/2016 12:31

First impression is I like it. I am used to scented aerosol but hate the way they smell on your skin and clothes after a days wear . I don't really feel like pitrok has a smell to it. I am heavily pregnant and the weather has been so hot so I felt a bit paranoid the last two days that it wasn't working as well as a normal deodorant . However I have persevered . Hoping that with continued use and some cooler days I will have no problems as I do really like it,

parisgellar · 15/09/2016 12:35

At first, I thought it looked lovely and I was glad that it was a pump spray rather than an aerosol. I have to say that I've used it today and was dripping with sweat after an hour and I felt and smelt disgusting. After about 4 hours of trying to power through, I went and used my usual deodorant instead.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 15/09/2016 12:35

First impressions are that it's an effective deodorant, it's been really hot and I've felt fresh at the end of the day and don't think I've been smelly. There is a weird earthy smell but this fades almost instantly.

I find 2 lids annoying and I really dislike the spray bottle and how wet it feels, I feel like it's dripping.

guardbabe21 · 15/09/2016 12:36

I love the packaging of this product, and the fact it is a spray not an aerosol. I don't normally use aerosols because it makes my chest feel funny. So this is perfect. I love the fact that the product is natural it is definitely something that appeals to me. So far it has worked really well. I haven't felt or smelt sweaty so it seems to be working for me. The only negative I have is the smell. I find it quite unpleasant and even my other half commented on the smell. Although this smell does fade after awhile.

Whoateallthecheese · 15/09/2016 12:37

Thanks for sending me the product to test.
I really like the packaging, looked appealing, good colours and design.
I didn't like the double cap, I found it fiddly and annoying and can't really work out what the purpose is, plus using extra, unnecessary plastic isn't great from an environmental perspective.
Love that it's all natural.
Not that keen on the smell, though it fades fast. I prefer a roll-on to a spray.
It's been hot here for the last few days and it's working well, no sweat marks or BO smells!
Some guidance on how many sprays to apply would be helpful.

CopperPan · 15/09/2016 12:43

I've been happy using this product so far. It feels gentle on my skin and I haven't felt any irritation. It takes a while to dry though. I don't mind the smell and it fades on me once it has dried, personally I prefer that as I use a perfume on top so it's better not to have it clash with my deodorant. I like that it doesn't leave annoying white marks on my clothes.

LuckySantangelo1 · 15/09/2016 12:45

I've been using it for 4 days and I'm really impressed. I had a baby last year and ever since I find the smell of normal deodorant quite unpleasant. This smells great to me and is working efficiently as a deodorant; it's been really hot weather & it's been standing up well!

My only complaint so far is the packaging; the bottle isn't that sturdy and leaked in transit. I wouldn't want to risk it going everywhere if i was going on holiday, for instance.

chillitrini · 15/09/2016 12:49

I have only have it for a week and so far so good.. I found it a bit tricky to start with that it is liquid, but it dries really quick and getting used to this. It is very gentle and efficient.. so far it has my thumbs up!

jacrispy · 15/09/2016 12:51

Been using this for a few days now. So far so good. I like that's it's a pump bottle and not a aerosol and it leaves my underarms feeling really fresh and light not like after using aerosols. I can really smell a scent from it but I don't smell like BO and it's been really hot here the last few days.

noideawhat · 15/09/2016 12:52

I've been using this since I received it last week. At first I was a bit apprehensive because the covering letter says you need to "allow for this process of transition or 'de-clogging'". I was worried I'd have to stink for a bit before it started working but it's been fine so far! There's definitely an unpleasant smell when you first spray it...it smells like a child's sneeze? But it wears off once dry. It was a bit messy to apply the first couple of days but I've got used to it. It dries quickly but I do have to plan the drying into my routine. The label says it needs to be applied to clean skin but I don't always have time to shower first thing - I haven't noticed any difference in effectiveness on those days though. I also agree with other posters that the inside lid seems unnecessary. Overall I'm really impressed, it's kept me smell free despite rushing round on hectic school runs & my armpits definitely feel nicer!

Mouthofmisery · 15/09/2016 12:53

I have been using Pitrok for about a week. I have been impressed so far. I did expect to smell after physical activity but it's actually more hardy than I have it credit for. I
Am 5 months pregnant and have very sensitive skin. It's caused no issues whatsoever. I really like it have got some for my father in law who has bad skin too!

monikalis123 · 15/09/2016 12:55

At first I did not like it as I'm used to roll-on deodorants, but after using it for few days I'm really happy with the results. It's really sensitive, does not cause any irritation and (what's the most important) it makes me feel fresh and free of any bad smell. Great product. Please advice where can I buy it when I ran out of the one which I'm testing :)

melfly · 15/09/2016 12:59

I have been using this for 5 days.
I think it smells absolutely vile but as its a product test I have continued with it.
I've started trying to spray further away from my armpits to create more of a mist than a burst as it pours down my sides. Better to spray before getting dressed and letting dry but that is a bit difficult when your sorting out 3 kids in the mornings.
I have to admit I do seem to be getting dryer under the arms and the initial BO smell from the first few days (not strong and I had my nose in my pit) seems to be less and less.
So upto now although it stinks awful when you first spray it (I think its a vinegary smell but my husband says he can't smell it) its working great. I dont like perfume smells anyway and have allergies.

I wish I had this when I was still breastfeeding because I sweat sooo much then. Will definitely use with baby number 4 (if we are blessed) and depending on how things go I may just stick to this anyway.

caramelchaos · 15/09/2016 13:01

I initially didn't think I'd like the product... I'm a big lover of properly strong, full of chemicals and scents deodorants and I didn't think that pitrok would be up to the challenge. However... So far I bloody love it! It was roasting the first few days and saw me through two days in a sweltering office then running about at home with the kids then gym workout and I didn't smell a bit. So far, so good!

melfly · 15/09/2016 13:01

I forgot to add I sprayed this after shaving my armpits in the shower and there was a bit of a sting. Maybe my razor is rubbish and hurt my skin first

Allibear · 15/09/2016 13:01

As a first impression I really like this! It feels so much more gentle than my other deodorants I've already noticed a difference under my arms, it's been 30 degree weather here and It's stood up to the test and I do tend to sweat quite a lot.
I would say I'm not a fan of the application it takes a while to dry and I'd like a little direction on how many sprays to use (as it doesn't say on the bottle). I do like this though, it works and it's not harsh on my skin. Natural deodorants have never worked for me before so I love that I can actually use this, especially in this mad heat wave!!

PippilottaViktualia · 15/09/2016 13:03

I think the double lid is a pain, I must be very lazy but I can't be bothered taking off / putting on two lids.

It takes ages to dry, seems a bit runny. It also has a bit of a weird smell. Like a really weird smell.

I think I'm getting used to it, it's obviously very different to my usual deodorant. I think I will like it more, the more I use it.

pinkDEpanter · 15/09/2016 13:06

Hey,

I'm 28 weeks pregnant, struggling epically with this heatwave and I'm on day 3. I'm not particularly in love with the scent, but I do like the packaging. My underarms feel so much nicer than when I use the usual deodorants. I shaved this morning and prepared myself for the usual stinging sensation but nothing. Yes it's slightly wet but no worse than a roll on. My current opinion is I would buy this product and I would certainly recommend

Didiusfalco · 15/09/2016 13:08

I like the packaging and the fact it is not a solid crystal like some crystal deodorant I have tried. The pump nozzle dispenses well and is easy to use. Although it is not perfumed it does have a not altogether pleasant odour. My dh described it as smelling like morning breath, this has put me off a little! Been using for 4 days and so far no irritation though.

charlybs · 15/09/2016 13:10

I received this today - very initial impressions:

It had leaked a bit in the envelope despite having 2 lids. To be honest if I were to buy it one of the lids would be straight in the bin as its fiddly.

I'm pregnant (so maybe I have heightened smell) but the smell is pretty unpleasant. It smells like when someone sneezes and sprays sneeze everywhere which is less than ideal.

I think the packaging design is fairly good, although the pitrok name is a bit gross. I know that's because it used to be a roll on rock thing but the connotations for me aren't great.

The info is clear and helpful. Will post again after use.

CountessOfStrathearn · 15/09/2016 13:15

I don't mind the smell and it does settle quickly. It does go on quite wet but then does dry quickly enough if I'm not getting dressed straight away.

I agree with others that the name isn't very nice, but the bottle looks nice.

It has stood up to a few hot days with no obvious (to me anyway!) odour by the end of the day. I didn't expect it to be any good and have been pleasantly surprised so far.
