This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

Thanks, and good luck!

Initial impressions here are surprisingly good. I had major reservations after the first use as I had it running down my body when I sprayed it on. I'm not a fan of the spray action and waiting for it to dry and the smell isn't pleasant at all. I have been using it for the last 4 days and am very surprised with how well it works! No sweating here in some awfully muggy weather. Agree that the double caps need looking at, I've just ditched the inner one. Hopefully it will continue to impress me.

vegmum83 · 15/09/2016 13:31

Initial thoughts are I like the design and it being a spray rather than aerosol although it runs down the side of your body if you spray too much. Seems to work well not many deodorants/anti perspirants work well for me but have been pleasantly surprised with this one as it seems to work well.

JLbaby · 15/09/2016 13:33

First impressions - I like the packaging colour, very attractive. However I'm not too keen on the two cap thing.

As for use, I only received it on Tuesday so can't really give it a full review, it's very wet on application and does take a few minutes to dry which I'm not keen on.

I don't like the "non scent" scent, not nice at all. I definitely wouldn't be able to use it if I was pregnant and highly sensitive to smells, which I was when I was pregnant.

Because of the pump it doesn't leave white marks which is definitely a bonus in my eyes.

j3nnif3r1 · 15/09/2016 13:41

I'm a big fan of the deodorant so far! I like that there is no smell, and having just had some really hot days it seems to work better than my previous deodorants. The only thing I'm not a fan of is if you use too much it tends to drip down your body!! I just need to get used to how much to use!

Solasum · 15/09/2016 13:41

I usually use roll on, so have found the dripping effect unnerving and not very pleasant.

Once it is on though, I really like the product. I like that it doesn't have a cheap perfume, and my underarms look and feel smoother. Am only on day 3 so Assume I am still acclimatising to it.

It has been very hot here, but don't think I have been smelly.

The packaging is fine and fit for purpose.

SharonStrzelecki · 15/09/2016 13:47

Initial thoughts - took a few days to get used to how wet it is! It dribbled down my arm the first time I used it. I don't like the smell, though as it disappears fairly quickly that doesn't matter. It is effective though - my skin feels fine, I can sweat in this warm weather and not smell! Looking forward to using this more over the next few weeks and seeing how it goes.

TheFabledSnake · 15/09/2016 13:56

First thoughts: it's a bit drippy but dries quickly. Doesn't smell or at least I can't smell any thing! Keeps me dry all day and I haven't smelt at all. Feels good, not like my armpits are clogged up.

goldenretriever1978 · 15/09/2016 14:00

I like the look and subtle smell of the product. I would have liked direction on the bottle about how much to apply. Hot day today and have been charging around and can tell that it is not as efficient as my usual 'non sensitive' brand but that I have some deodorant on, if that makes sense.

Macdat · 15/09/2016 14:03

At first, I was slightly wary of trying it. It's just so different from other deodorants that smell a lot more and feel heavier, so I was wondering if it would really work.
The smell was a little odd, it isn't bad, just not what I expected.

I loved not having the cloud of deodorant in the house that you'd usually get with aerosols. This is something I especially hated in aerosol deodorants after baby was born, so I really felt good about not having it.

After using for 3 days, in high heat, I must say it has surprised me. I'm surprised something so light without the strong smells I'm used to, can work so well. I haven't done much on those days, but today I will be very active in the high heat so let's see what happens!
Also looking forward to trying it on my feet.

annarack99 · 15/09/2016 14:17

Great first impression, love the subtle scent, smells of cinnamon to me! I actually like the pump spray which I wasn't expecting as have never rated them before and always choose an aerosol. Great being able to spray it in the same room as my baby without worrying about gassing him!

teabagsmummy · 15/09/2016 14:19

I have been using this for a week now. I usually use string perfumes in deodorant as I have a very physical job and worry about smelling.
I really like this product as I'm peg baby and aware of harsh chemicals. So far it has kept me fresh for over 24 so really impressed so far. I also like the pump seat

user1470426914 · 15/09/2016 14:24

First impressions of this deodorant are good. I didn't like the double lid as I didn't notice the second one and it fell off onto the floor where my little son was playing. I only found it later and then realised it had come from the product. It worried me quite a bit as he loves putting things in his mouth and could easily have choked on it. For this reason I would prefer a single lid.

I like the smell of this deodorant, it is gentle and not overpowering. The deodorant seems to work well, keeping me fresh all day. I like the spray applicator and the bottle design. First impressions are that it works better than traditional deodorants.

honeyharris · 15/09/2016 14:30

I was very excited to try this deodorant as I'm planning a pregnancy and have been researching into more 'natural' options for toiletries and cleaning. I thought the packaging looked classy and expensive, although I didn't like the double lid and have already lost the little transparent one. Found the spray quite hard to direct and to be sure that it had gone in the right place, and like others the 'non-smell' was a bit odd. However, in the recent hot muggy weather that we've had I've been noticing a bit of a 'pong' by the end of the day if I sniff my armpit and am getting paranoid about sweat patches on my clothes. I had to give in and use my usual Mitchum yesterday evening as I was attending a cardio class where I knew I would be sweating profusely.

Intotheclouds · 15/09/2016 14:31

I absolutely love this, I suffer really bad with irritated skin and it has gone down dramatically in just the few days that I have been using this. Like some of the other mumsnetters, I wasn't too keen on the smell at the beginning. I think it's because I'm so used to fragranced deodorants but the smell of it has grown on me. I also like the fact that it's a spray bottle not a aerosol as it leaves me feeling a lot fresher/cleaner.

Undertheboredwalk · 15/09/2016 14:34

First impressions are good so far, only been using it a few days but have noticed a difference on my skin, I always had irritation before and that's definitely improved. It took a little bit of time to get used to the lack of scent and aerosol but I'm impressed so far.

firawla · 15/09/2016 14:36

First impressions are that I like the packaging and the subtle scent of it is quite nice. I like the idea of being natural but wondered if it would be as effective as my normal roll on ones.

It's been really hot here at the moment, and maybe I'm a bit more hot and bothered being pregnant too, but in this weather so far I've not felt like this brand gives enough protection - compared to my typical anti perspirant roll ons.

I'm interested to see how it does on cooler days, and it might be good when I have the baby in winter - as someone else mentioned it's nice to use a natural one when breastfeeding, and as it should be colder then and sweating less I might feel more comfortable to use just this product then. For summer though, I wouldn't be able to switch over to this

Bananacabana · 15/09/2016 14:41

I've been using the spray for four days and am really pleased with it so far. It looks good, I like the spray even though I'm used to roll on, the slight smell seems very natural and so far it has kept any negative smells at bay, it's prevented any sweat patches and no white residue has been left on any clothes. It's been a hot week and it's stood up to the humidity!
The only slight negative I have found so far is it can get a little sticky. When I first applied it, it felt sticky for about 30 mins afterwards and since then it has happened a few times but I've got used to it and it's just a slight problem which are outweighed by all the positives. Smile

NewNameNoFace · 15/09/2016 14:50

Thank you for letting me test the deodorant.

Packaging looks nice, as others have mentioned, no need for 2 lids, seems wasteful.

I like the smell, think it smells fresh.

I don't like how wet it is, it all runs down my body. I'm used to roll on deodorants, could this product be made that way?

I know my body needs to unclog from the antiperspirant, but I do feel I smell a little bit, as PP has stated maybe that's just forgetting what body's smell like rather than stinky BO.

So far impressed but a bit too wet on application.

MimiDiddy · 15/09/2016 14:51

My first impressions are nice packaging and design (although not a fan of the two caps). It smells more than I was expecting for an unfraganced product, but not unpleasantly so and is very faint. I've used natural and crystal deodorants before so was expecting to be a bit damp and smelly by the end of the day but I've been much drier and still fresh smelling at the end of day. It was a pretty hot day isn't north west yesterday, I had been rushing about all day and had my first pregnancy yoga class last night, I was the tiniest bit smelly and sweat damp. I think I might have smelled more if I'd used my regular roll on.

I know this product is aimed at pregnant women and and new mums but my DH is itching to try it as it's fragrance free and non-pore blocking. I may spray it on him before he does some gardening and see how it does.

I have noticed the top undoing itself and leaking a bit too. But my impressions so far are that I would buy this product and use it daily.

Beeeeee · 15/09/2016 14:58

So far, I am impressed. I like the packaging and it does have a slight smell to it which isn't too bad.

I usually suffer from itchy underarms and I have tried a range of different antiperspirants. This one has caused me no issues so far.

I will continue to test to see how it goes, so far its good.

BingBongBingBong · 15/09/2016 15:01

At first I really hated the smell, it's so unpleasant. However I am used to it now - I still don't like it but it doesn't smell as foul as it did when I first started using it.
I don't like the packaging - it's just so bland. It doesn't catch my attention.
It does seem to be very good though, I've been using it this week and it's been between 24-29 degrees most days so it's been humid and roasting hot! Chasing my toddler and baby around the park has tested it well. I feel like although I sweat I don't smell. I've asked my other half (who is brutally honest when he needs to be!) to sniff my armpits at the end of each day Grin and he says I still smell fresh so overall it's a thumbs up!

BeautyBoo · 15/09/2016 15:02

I also find the 2 lids a little fiddly and will probably throw the smaller one away as it's annoying me! Initially I did turn my nose up at it being a wet spray as opposed to an aerosol, however it does dry quicker than I expected and has done the job very well. I have applied the deodorant before working a 12.5hr shift and it has stood the test!

Monstamio · 15/09/2016 15:07

My first impressions are pretty good. Whenever I've tried natural deodorants in the past I've been able to smell myself by mid-afternoon, which is never good. But so far, this one seems to be holding its own.

The smell when you first spray it on is definitely unusual. Not exactly unpleasant, but not something I would necessarily choose. Thankfully this disappears when it dries. I used far too much the first time and it ran all the way down my sides, so it only needs a few squirts.

It's taking a bit of getting used to sweating again after years of using antiperspirants, but I guess that's just one of those things. Not something I would want in an evening gown though.

joanne070479 · 15/09/2016 15:39

I've been using this for almost a week now and can't get used to the smell of it. It really doesn't smell very nice at all and I don't think it has made any difference to the way I sweat at all. Will keep at it though and hopefully will see an improvement after a few more weeks.

duckyisback · 15/09/2016 16:15

I really liked the packaging of the product, and loved that it was a spray rather than aerosol.

Unfortunately on opening the deodorant I found the smell absolutely awful Blush may be just my usually sensitive nose is more sensitive due to pregnancy. I tried the spray for a few days and found that the smell went away after a while, but, at the end of the day when going for a shower, when taking off clothes the smell returned. Unfortunately because of this I had to stop using it Blush
