This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

I have now almost finished the product. I gave been generally very pleased with it. I like the fact that I am using a natural product and not using any more chemicals on my body than I have to. There was no irritation at all throughout its use.
The only issue I had with it was that as I used more and more of the deodorant, the smell of it became stronger. Maybe this was because I hadn't shook it thoroughly when I started using it but it became offputting. It started to smell quite musty, almost like sweat and I had to change my top every day because they didn't smell fresh any more. For that reason, I'm not sure if I would buy it if it was available to me. I thought it was an excellent product to start with and was very effective but I lost some of that feeling over tone. But I still think it's a good product that I would recommend to other people.

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
Considering it's a natural product, I was pleasantly surprised at how effective it was, and how long it worked for.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?
It did not trigger my sensitive skin and actually soothed my skin and made it feel really soft. Other deodorants even unfrangranced ones like this usually irritate my skin within half an hour of application, but this one didn't at all. Would definitely buy again and recommend to others!
BingBongBingBong · 28/10/2016 09:06

Mixed review from me, I like that it is natural. But I am a sweaty Betty so it doesn't cut it for me personally! Still not keen on the smell but I see that a scented one is in development Smile

HermioneBoo · 28/10/2016 12:41

I liked the packaging but the double cap was fiddly, I also found that it dribbled a bit so it's slightly 'crunchy' when I put the outer cap back on. The smell initially is not particularly nice but gets a lot better once dry. Could have done with some more guidance as to how much to spray on but overall pretty happy with it. It works and I would recommend it to friends who want to avoid chemical-ly deodorants

DeliciouslyHella · 28/10/2016 16:17

I liked the packaging, particularly the double lid. Although it says it is unscented, it has a subtle smell. Definitely works well - I wasn't sweaty or smelly at all whilst using it. The only bugbear for me was waiting for it to dry. I prefer cream stick deodorant so don't normally have to do this.

mm1975 · 28/10/2016 16:49

I like the bottle and clean scent, but not overly keen on how long it takes to dry and I also found if I spray too much it trickles down my side.
It works as well as any other deodorant I've used but much kinder to the skin which is a bonus.
I'm not sure I would buy it for the price it currently is but maybe if it was on offer.
Great when breastfeeding as I don't even wear perfume so that was a positive.

tyra78 · 28/10/2016 16:49

I like that it is in a spray rather than a aerosol. I think the package could be more attractive but I like it has a product.i like the fact that it is natural espically since i am pregnant. it seems to work but I am not a over sweaty person 😊

Queazy · 28/10/2016 18:32

I wasn't impressed at all. I used it three times, and felt like I smelled by the afternoon each time. I've never had this with my usual deodorants.

iamthemusicman · 28/10/2016 21:28

I didn't find it effective enough to deal with the hottest days or time at the gym but it was good for everyday use.

The smell was a little off putting but it does fade after a few minutes

I was impressed with its effect on my sensitive skin, no itching which i sometimes get with other deodorants

GizmosBandana · 29/10/2016 11:13

I liked that the product was natural and non irritating on the skin. The scent wasn't very pleasant but did fade quickly. The double cap was fiddly, and I immediately lost the smaller cap. The product had also leaked slightly when I received it, so the double cap hasn't proved very useful! I really didn't like the 'wet' spray formula; if I put too much on it ran down my side, it took a while to dry so I couldn't get dressed straight away and it also meant that I couldn't 'top up' throughout the day. I didn't find that it offered the same antiperspirant protection as the deodorant I usually use, and I did have wet patches on a particularly busy shift in work using this product which I wouldn't normally. Overall I probably wouldn't buy this product having tested it out, and would prefer to stick to my stronger deodorant I normally use.

RockCrushesLizard · 30/10/2016 08:46

I'm afraid this is a no from me.

I found it fine when it was warm and I had exposed armpits - maybe to do with evaporation or something. However, whenever I had a t shirt or anything heavier on, there was a definite damp feeling, and by five-ish I would have been uncomfortable with DH snuggling, smell wise. At bedtime, definite BO. By the morning, pre shower, it was almost as bad as if I had completely skipped deodorant.

Maybe it's a breastfeeding/hormone type thing that I'm smelling more at the mo, or I still have pregnancy nose sensitivity, but I wouldn't recommend this. Mostly because it's ineffective, but I didn't love the runniness or the price either.

Jambo2805 · 30/10/2016 10:09

First impressions were good, I like the bottle, the colour is appealing, the design is pretty and all the information you need to know is very clear. I am both a new mum and a pregnant mum who is suffering really badly with psoriasis so my skin is very sensitive at present. As far as irritation goes it is amazing, my underarm irritation decreased dramatically and actually I used it on my feet as well because I'm on my feet all day at work. It does exactly what it says on the tin. I honestly would only change the smell, it smells awful and it lingers for quite some time so I ended up spraying other deodorant over my clothes to mask the smell.

ParisGellar · 30/10/2016 21:48

I didn't like this at all. It just didn't work. I liked the packaging, the smell and I was excited to give it a good go. Unfortunately, it was no good for me and didn't stop me smelling awful by afternoon! I liked that it was a natural product and I was excited to use it. It must be said that it didn't irritate my skin at all whilst using it, which is an issue I've always struggled with with deodorants. However I found it completely ineffectual as an antiperspirant and as a deodorant. I won't be recommending this product.

GwendolynMoon · 30/10/2016 22:20

Not much has changed since my original impression of this.

I found it quite effective and love that it's a natural product.

I have had mild irritation from other deodorants in the past and this certainly didn't cause any.

For me it has been a good product however I am not a particularly sweaty person.

usernamewastooobv · 31/10/2016 21:42

When I first started wearing deodorant I used a spray but I found that during the day I would get quite smelly so tried a variety of roll on/sticks over the years which were effective but would take time to dry. However, either I have become less smelly or sprays have got better because the one I currently use is great.

I wanted to try PitROK because I still BF and thought it would be better to find a natural alternative to spray deodorant. Initially I found it to be really effective, even though I was not keen on the smell on application - this did disappear. I remained dry and non-smelly throughout the day. However, if I did any strenuous exercise I did begin to smell which has not been an issue with my regular deodorant. The other issue I have is that I have become too used to being immediately dry on application and when using several pumps of PitROK - which I felt was needed, it took a long time to dry.

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?
Backhometothenorth · 01/11/2016 11:35

Just to add a few comments now that I am not heavily pregnant in very hot weather as with previous response! What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
Apart from in the very warm weather I have found this product very effective and have got used to the dampness on application. Would prefer a roll-on.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation? Yes! No sensitivity, dryness or irritation. I really think this is a great natural product!
nearlyreadytopop · 03/11/2016 16:15

When the pack arrived it had leaked a little inside the cap. I don't know if this was due to the over enthusiastic postman trying to squeeze it through the letter box or a fault with the packaging.
I think the smell is rather non descript and would prefer something more scented.
It was really wet when applied, I prefer something quicker drying.
I loved how the room didn't full with fumes after use.
For an average day it worked well and did a good job. I don't think it preformed as well when I was exercising and sweating hard.
Irritation wise I found it much more gentle than previous anti perspirants.

shabbychic1 · 03/11/2016 20:43

Not that impressed, I stopped using it half way through as it was so wet and I missed having a scented deodorant. Also as it contains aluminium (think all antiperspirants do as the active ingredient) it's not really any better for you than others that smell better and work better. My DH really likes it though!

caramelchaos · 03/11/2016 20:46

I felt much happier using a natural product, but in all honesty, I didn't feel that it was any less effective that the chemical laden ones i would normally use. I was really surprised as I would normally avoid using a natural deodorant as I assumed they wouldn't be as good at keeping me fresh!
I haven't noticed any difference to my skin, but it certainly hasn't caused any irritation or dryness.
I was really impressed with this product. It looks great, smells great and is really effective.

Rarotonga · 05/11/2016 08:36

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

I have been impressed with it, particularly over time. Initially, when the weather was still quite warm I worried about it's effectiveness especially when I was running aroundand very busy at work. But after a little more use, I felt it became increasingly effective for me. I am very pleased, especially given it is a natural product.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

I didn't have either of these.

user1469451118 · 06/11/2016 07:13
