This is the feedback thread of the 500 Mumsnetters who are testing PitROK Extra Sensitive deodorant.

Here’s what PitROK have to say: “It’s a sensitive time being a New Mum. It can bring wonders and joy; but also nagging questions about our children’s environment and what’s good for our bodies. We spoke to 641 New Mums, and over 40% of them told us they had changed their Deodorant around this time to stop the irritation some Antiperspirants can cause; whilst enabling their bodies to perform more naturally. At PitROK we’ve been making naturally effective deodorant for over 20 years and many people swear by them. Please try our new Extra Sensitive deo - it’s been especially formulated by a Mum for New Mums.”

Testers, now that you've been testing the product for 3-4 weeks and given your first impressions on PitROK Extra Sensitive, we'd like you to complete this survey and answer the questions below:

  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?
  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

If you have any trouble with using the product or have any queries about PitROK Extra Sensitive whilst you’re testing, feel free to use PitROK’s Ask Alison feature where they will be able to answer your questions.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Boots voucher.

I did think that the product helped to make my underarms and there was no irritation. I think the smell could be a little better, but this wouldn't put me off buying the product. The only thing that would put me off buying is the price as there as so many good deals on deodorant on the market, that I am not sure if I could justify spending the RRP on this product.

ClareAndTheBump · 21/10/2016 10:55

I've used this for about 4 weeks and while it was great at first, I have recently found that it's stopped working for me. I live in the north of Scotland so it's not due to temperature although I am now 39 weeks pregnant so it's probabaly not coping with all my hot flashes.
It's packaging is very nice and it's a nice product to use although I'd prefer a roll on but that's just personal preference. It has improved my under arm skin hugely I've had no irritation from it.
But I've had to stop using it as it's bad enough waddling and feeling huge without being smelly as well, I'm hoping to start using it again after the baby arrives.

NerrSnerr · 21/10/2016 11:00

I really liked the product. I liked the smell (even though it was supposed to be unscented) and it seemed to dry quickly. It works well and I haven't been smelly throughout the day. I also haven't sweated, my underarms have stayed dry.

I haven't had any irritation when I have used it and I have previously with other products, no pain even after shaving.

HappyGirl86 · 21/10/2016 12:15

I think this product works well to avoid smell but as others have mentioned it did not keep me quite as try as I would have liked. I really like that it is for sensitive skin and I didn't have any irritation. The smell could be slightly better but it isn't a problem- I think a fragranced version would be nice.
The retail price seems expensive for a deodorant, but I guess I may pay that considering the product.

Stej7 · 21/10/2016 13:20

I wasn't sure about this product initially. I think it probably took me about a week to get used to the fragrance. I'm also used to a roll on deodorant so a spray was novel. After using it for three weeks I would say it does the job but I'm not overly fussed on spending extra money on it

Thesoggybiscuiteer · 21/10/2016 13:41

Not sure why but my review hasn't posted! So here goes again:- I liked the packaging and although it took a little while to get used to the spray application it didn't affect how I viewed the product. I liked that it was unfragranced as it didn't clash with the scent of my perfume, I also liked the fact it was natural as I am a breastfeeding Mum and so it worries me what I'm putting into/ on my body and how it affects my child. I did find that on higher activity days I was left a little pongy but maybe applying more product on those days may have solved that, Otherwise I still felt fresh as a daisy 12 hours after applying it. My skin is much softer since using Pitrok have had no adverse reactions to it which I have had with some other types of deodorant. I liked the product overall, the only thing that would but me off buying is the price tag which is 2-3 times what I spend on my normal go to deodorant, having said that I may change my mind once I know how long the bottle lasts as I am only about a 3rd of the way through it I think.

Runningbutnotscared · 21/10/2016 14:09

I really like this product. I was a little dubious at first but have been quickly converted. Thing is, it really works. Having recently given birth I sweat a lot (its very rarely mentioned that new mums sweat like marathon runners) but it's not a problem while using PitRock.
Would buy and recommend

AppleDragon · 21/10/2016 14:22

What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

I didn't notice any body odour issues. Now that i'm used to it I prefer the spray to my old roll on - it feels more natural.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

It didn't irritate my sensitive underarm skin at all/

TeddyIsaHe · 21/10/2016 15:06

Final impressions:

It hi k I'm going slightly against the grain here, but I really liked this deodorant. The wetness didn't bother me, I applied immediately after showering and once I left the bathroom and was ready to get dressed it had dried. I also didn't notice a scent at all, so no issues there.

What has really impressed me, and honestly made me love it, is the affect its had on my psoriasis. The red, scaly patches have faded to almost nothing meaning I have been able to wear short sleeves for the first time in years without stressing about anyone noticing. It has made such a huge difference, I will not be going back to regular deodorant ever! I will definitely be recommending it to anyone who suffers from psoriasis, and anyone else as well.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 21/10/2016 15:07

I really liked how the product was packaged and I really liked how it stopped the irritation under my arms it also kept me very dry.
So far I'm thinking great product and I would love it but the stench of it to me is unbelievably eye wateringly like a dead body as it starts to fester.
It's a very heavy salty Manky smell which is a great shame really because other than that it's perfect

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 21/10/2016 16:47

My final feedback

I really like this product & will continue to buy it.

I did sweat while as I normally would while using it but haven't noticed an odour at all.

I've not experienced any underarm irritation caused by the spray while using it.

Once I got used to the fact it was pump action I've really started to like it.

Since starting this trial my underarms not only look healthier they feel it too. A fabulous product.

Mypoorhat · 21/10/2016 18:12

I found the smell inoffensive and like the idea of using a natural product, especially when breastfeeding.

However I didnt feel that it worked particularly well- perhaps because My hormones are still a bit all over the place after having a baby. It just didn't make me feel very secure and on most days trying it I ended up doubling up with my usual roll on after a bit of exertion.

LancashireTea · 21/10/2016 18:46

Final impressions: lovely looking product, but I still found it quite wet and slow to dry, especially after a shower. However I haven't had itchy armpits since I began using it and I haven't noticed that I smell. Depending on if there are offers on for it or not, as money is an issue in our house, then it could find its way into my shopping basket as it lasts well.

SazzyJ15 · 21/10/2016 18:51

I'm afraid after testing this deodorant for 4 weeks that I didn't get on brilliantly with it.

Firstly, after the first 2 weeks my body seemed to build up a resistance to this deodorant (or I started to sweat more in my pregnancy). This left me sweaty on a few occasions which was not too pleasant and the odour didn't seem to be masked.

I also found that after shaving my underarms in the bath and then applying the deodorant that it really stung. I don't find this when using my usual deodorant.

I loved the packaging but it would be helpful to provide a guide as to how many sprays per underarm is needed.

Thanks for letting me test the deodorant. Sorry I didn't get on with it.

RainyDayBear · 21/10/2016 19:06

I liked the idea of natural products, packaging is good and I do have sensitive underarms and think it helped - unfortunately I found that it didn't work as well as my normal deodorant though. I'm a teacher so am on my feet all day and I did feel more aware of my sweat at the end of the day than usual. Sorry, I really liked the concept of this and would happily try it again if it was made more effective!

Nectarines · 21/10/2016 20:04

I liked this product. I liked the packaging and was encouraged by the lack of nasties, especially as I'm breastfeeding at the moment.

I found the skin on my underarms was healthier after a few weeks and I didn't suffer any body odour.

I must agree with others though that the downside is, I'm used to antiperspirant. I'm used to feeling dry and find the damp feeling I got with this quite uncomfortable.

In all, I haven't given up on this, but am yet to be completely converted.

Thanks for the chance to test it.

eatsleepfeedrepeat · 21/10/2016 20:15

Pros and cons of this product for me:
Pros: liked the smell, definitely reduced itchiness and dry skin. Worked surprisingly well at managing odour for a natural product
Cons: am used to a cream, spray took a while to get used to, need to leave a couple of.minutes for it to dry. Also wasn't sure whether it could be reapplied during the day, especially when showering at night.
Will keep using it.

kierie · 22/10/2016 13:08

After using for a month or so now, I'm not finding the deodorant effective. It takes a long time to dry when you first apply, especially now the weather's colder. After a few hours, it's as if I've not washed at all! I've stuck with it throughout the trial, rewashing and reapplying, but again, it only lasts for s few hours. Shame as I love the concept.

AnotherTimeMaybe · 22/10/2016 13:18

So I keep on using it and I still love it! I gave a review after 1 and 3 weeks and now it's been 4 weeks and product is still very effective
Also I'm still breastfeeding so love the fact that it's natural and so good!
Will definitely be buying it!!

Bringmewineandcake · 22/10/2016 15:47

I've used this product for a few weeks now and don't think I'd buy it in the shops in its current form. The main issue is that I don't shower every morning, and it really did only work on me if I'd had a shower. I am by no means a particularly sweaty person, but a sniff of my armpits on non-shower days was like I'd not used deodorant at all.
When I have showered in the morning the product is excellent. Even on those really warm days. 4pm, cuddled up bf'ing my newborn and there was absolutely no smell at all.
I don't like the odour when it first goes on as mentioned in my initial feedback, but it did wear off within a minute or two.
The packaging was visually very pleasing and it looks like a high end product.
From the survey it looks like the RRP is about £4 - there's no way I'd spend that amount on deodorant. My usual branded product is no more than £2.
All in all I'm glad I got the opportunity to try pitrok, but it isn't something I'll be buying for myself. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it either as I find the RRP quite prohibitive.

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 22/10/2016 19:24

Final feedback from me.... good product with absolutely no sign of irritation at all on my ezcema prone skin. I like the graphics and the general design of the bottle but I usually but roll on products, I'd favour that over a spray bottle for accuracy of application and less 'running' from a spray. The only time I didn't use it was over a weekend away as I worried it my leak in my bag as the tops had come off in the post initially. The lack of scent and initial smell didn't bother me as I prefer fragrance free for healthly skin but I also like to smell of my own perfume not synthetic flowers or whatever.

I was quite surprised at the price for £4, the product appears to have lasted well, lots left, but I usually spend about £1.50 on a sensitive non scented roll on.

duckyisback · 22/10/2016 21:17

I only used the product a couple of times.

I found that even just the few times I had used it I had no irritation, which is unusual for me.

But I had to stop using it as I could not stand the smell and it made me very paranoid when taking my jacket off that other people could smell it.

I do have a crazy sensitive nose though Hmm

socktastic · 23/10/2016 09:41

Final feedback

Pros:
Effective anti perspiration
No irritation
Works well on feet

Cons: (these are personal feelings)
I prefer an aerosol spray
It's not scented enough for me, I think I still smell sweaty
As a mum to a demanding little person, I don't shower every day so the direction to only use after a shower is not possible

Overall I did like the product but probably not enough to switch from my usual brand

Starch1e · 23/10/2016 12:10

Final thoughts :
-attractive packaging, colours, logo

  • attracted by 'natural' claims, lack of animal testing
  • don't like spray, felt wet and often sprayed more than just armpits! Sure that's just me, used to roll-on
  • don't like initial smell but that does fade
  • worked well as a deodorant
  • haven't seen it for sale locally and probably wouldn't buy as very expensive
Goldenvalley · 23/10/2016 14:37
  • What were your thoughts about the effectiveness of PitROK Extra Sensitive, given that it's a natural product?

It's brilliant. Really impressive after being sceptical to begin with. I actually feel fresher than with abnormal deodorant. It feels so much better on my skin.

  • Do you feel that PitROK Extra Sensitive has had an effect on either your sensitive skin or under arm irritation?

Yes, my underarms feel healed and soft again. I'm seriously impressed and a total convert!
