This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Toujours Nappies with their DCs.

The following items were tested:

Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack
Size 5 Junior (11-25kg) 44 pack
Size 6 Extra Large Nappies 30 pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
‘Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. We ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and the Toujours range is now more flexible giving your baby the comfort and freedom to explore the world. There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality high. Toujours is dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, minimising our carbon footprint.’

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

15months, size 4

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was not massively impressed with the nappies. They seemed very thin and flimsy and we did have a number of leakage issues with them. They also didn't appear to stretch as well as other brands which is important with an increasingly active toddler.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I would recommend other brands over these.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Unlikely as I prefer Aldi ones which are a similar price.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 2 and 3 months but fairly small, we tested size 5.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? They were very big compared to Pampers and Aldi nappies Ive used recently. I didn't like the fact that the chemical beads or whatever it is that absorb the wee could be easily seen rolling around the nappy and that there was only a very thin layer between that and my son's skin.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? NO, for reason above.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why? No, Im not sure I will use the rest of the packet.

My little one is 16 months and we trailed the size 4

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
First impression was there thin let see what happens but I was pleasantly surprised they hold well n they fit really good we have issues with the frills on nappys normally because she's never been a chubby baby wish I tried them when she was small they fit perfect n no leaks very happy they look like they fit properly 2 so I don't have to worry she's gonna leak out the sides

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would recommend

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I would buy these again but I nearest lidl is to far away to travel to just to get nappys

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My baby is 12 weeks old and we used he size 3 nappies.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked the Lidl Toujours range. They weren't too bulky but protected her well. They kept her dry over longer periods (night time) and we had no leaks.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would definitely recommend these products if it came up in conversation. They are excellent protection for babies and also come at a fantastic price too.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would buy Lidl Toujours in the future as I think they were fantastic and at the price they come at you cant beat them. If I had a Lidl closer to me I'd buy them all the time. I even think they are much better than the Pampers nappies I reviewed recently and at a similar level to Aldi Mamia nappies which i usually buy.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Found them to be ok, but just that, I found they were not very absorbent even though I was changing my son very regularly. I didn't find them to be a good design I wonder if they are better for girls

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Liked the design on the front and was really surprised how good the nappies are no awful smell . No excessive bulking of nappies once it's wet.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Most definitely
4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so

They were really great and fantastic price point off to Lidl too stock up especially since my local Aldi only stocks smaller sizes of nappies . Lidl is my new supplier for my little angels bottom protector well done Lidl

15 weeks, size 3

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Well after my DS woke up for the third night in a row soaked up to neck, we had to abandon the trial. During the day he also leaked within 3 hours. I found the nappies came up much smaller than other brands I have used (tesco, aldi, pampers).

The only thing I can say I liked initially is the thinness compared to tesco nappies

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

No unfortunately not based on my experience

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were lightweight and flexible but too tight around the wasteband. This is because my child is five and isn't a typical user of this size nappy.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes I would

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes I would, excellent value and they do the job, absorbent, not smelly.

6+1/2 months old, we tested size 3.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They were great, used on holiday and baby was dry the whole time. Usually we use cloth nappies at home, and disposables often give my children a rash but these didn't irritate at all.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes definitely.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would definitely buy these nappies in the future, I am so impressed with them for size, absorbency and comfort. I can't actually fault anything about the nappies - but unfortunately we don't have a Lidl nearby and so I'll need to stock up next time we are near to one!
Thanks so much for choosing me to test these nappies :-)

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They've come a long way since the lidl nappies we tried 5 years ago on our eldest. Slimline, hold plenty of liquid though seem to go baggy quicker than some? I'm not a big fan of pictures in nappies, but this wouldn't affect whether I bought them. No nappy rash either, which we always get from Pampers.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes, good nappies at a great price.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes if I'm near a lidl- there's not one close by.

  1. DS2 16 months, size4

  2. The first thing that struck me was that they were thinner and lighter than our usual brand (aldi), also a slightly more plasticy feel. Sizewize I think they are possibly slightly more generous than the aldi ones, but that could be a function of their slimness. Generally they performed well, but the lack of "filling" did make me feel more cautious, especially overnight. We liked the pictures on the nappy too.
What I did not like was how the "filling" tended to clump when DS was particularly active, and that worried me about potential leaks, and so I changed him more frequently in anticipation of this.

3)I would probably recommend these to a friend.

4)I would possibly buy them again in the future, if shopping at Lidl.

3 months - size 2

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
No smell, didnt rub.
Felt lightweight so worried about leaks BUT would go back to again when my baby is more mobile for this reason.
Really dislike the packaging - so dated and I tend to work in lbs, so I probably would have picked them up in a store unless I was certain they should be the same size as Aldi or pampers.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? I trialled with my niece so recomended to my SIL - she thought they looked dated too, but I said they seemed as good as Aldi (I just bought aldi which have an indicator and stump dip - I would want to ensure Lidl size 1 was a similar spec as the price is the same)- will try again with my baby in 5-6weeks when he/she is due.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why? As above - yes - will give early sizes a go if they have the same features as Aldi and think I would look at them for mobility. Price is good, have a stock pile ready for my baby to add to.

How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

We tested size 6 extra large nappies on our 5 year old - he's really petite

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

We liked them - he wears pull ups or nappies at night as we aren't ready for no nappies yet - the tab stuck really securely and they weren't a bad fit. The price was good for how many you get too.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes - I would definitely recommend they try them based on our experience

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why? Yes I would as the price is good although hoping that soon we won't have to use nappies or pullups at night

1 - My baby is 3.5 months old and we were sent size three to trial.
2 - They felt very much like a premium quality nappy. The material is soft and non rustling and the nappy is light and feels thin and discreet.
3 - Yes I would.
4 - I will, I know it. They offered great protection through the night despite my daughter being a front sleeper. They feel as if they are more expensive than they actually are and the designs are endearing and novel. They work out as being incredibly cost effective and economical per item and as they function as a nappy should, I see no reason to buy other nappies on the market which are usually priced at a considerably more cost. These are an all round winner for me.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

We received size 5 nappies to test on our 32 month old daughter.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The packet was easy to open and eah nappy was easy to remove. The first thing I noticed was how thin they are. Overall they performed well and were quite absorbent but we did experience a number of leaks around the inner leg area which did affect my overall opinion of them - I'm not sure if this was because maybe the size 5 were slightly too big for her though.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Possibly. I always advise friends to try a pack from each brand as what suits one child doesn't necessarily suit another. Each child has a different body shape and needs a different level of absorbency I find.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

We would possibly try the next size down to see if the leaks on the inner leg were due to the nappies being too big for our daughter.

13 months and size 4

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Overall impression was good. They did feel a bit cheap in comparison to Pampers Baby Dry which is my usual brand, but found them to be quite absorbent even overnight and not too bulky. The only thing I disliked was when they were wet and while trying to do the "poo bum wipe" with the inside front of the nappy they were a bit flimsy and the top layer was very loose meaning it was difficult to do a good wipe

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Maybe. Depends on the price. I'd also like to try them a few more days (still got quite a few left!) to see how they deal with really big night time wees and poo explosions

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Probably not as I don't really shop at Lidl and wouldn't go out of my way to but them.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

We tried size 6 nappies on 20 month old little boy.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They looked a comfortable fit, they are a very good price, and certainly better and more reliable than branded ones like Pampers. But for nights, I would say I still prefer my usual Asda brand ones, as they seem a bit more absorbent than the Lidl ones.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, would say they're better than name brands, and a fraction of the cost.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

If I was only going to Lidl, I'd certainly buy these - they do the job quite well. but otherwise, I'd be more likely to stick with Asda for night nappies (we're cloth users during the day).
