This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Toujours Nappies with their DCs.

The following items were tested:

Size 1 Newborn Nappies 24 pack
Size 2 Newborn Mini Nappies 44 pack
Size 3 Midi (4-9kg) 56 pack x 1
Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack
Size 5 Junior (11-25kg) 44 pack
Size 6 Extra Large Nappies 30 pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:

‘Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. We ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and the Toujours range is now more flexible giving your baby the comfort and freedom to explore the world. There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality high. Toujours is dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, minimising our carbon footprint.’

Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
15 months, size 3.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Very happy with the feel of them, they fit well, particularly the leg cuffs. Absorbent and did the job well.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes, they're almost as good as the more well-known brands but much much cheaper.

DrunctioningFunk · 29/06/2016 12:39
  1. Ds is 2.9 and I used size 5 nappies.

  2. I always have used Pampers Baby Dry and was surprised that the illustrative design of the nappy was practically identical to the Pampers nappy! They are slightly larger in size though, and ever so slightly more bulky. This didn't affect the quality though; there was no sagging or leaking and no chemically smell like Asdas

  3. I gave a friend a few of these Lidl nappies for her to try on her 2 yo and she was very impressed also.

  4. I would buy Lidl's nappies again. I am going to buy some of their pull up nappies for out and about/ after swimming and see how they fare.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

9 weeks, size1

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They seemed fine. Fitted well and no leaking. However, they felt a little cheap and plasticky.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Probably

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why? Probably not as I prefer the feel of Pampers.

Place marking - only just got mine yesterday

Tinofsardines · 29/06/2016 14:44

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My son is 2 and we used size 6.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was pleasantly surprised. Theres no smell, they feel and look nice and kept him dry. The tabs were nice and strong too, which is a problem I sometimes find with cheaper nappies.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, definitely.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, great value for money. Ive never been to our local Lidl before so will definitely be more inclined to go now that I know I can get nappies along side the weekly shop.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? 7 weeks size 2.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? Pleased that there wasn't the chemical smell that you get with Pampers. They do however seem to come up as a small fit for a size 2. Had a leak out of the back but wouldn't know for sure if this was due to the fit.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Yes.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why? Probably would as they are good value. Just not sure about the fit.

glasgowlass · 29/06/2016 14:48
  1. 3 year old boy, we used the size 6 nappies.
  1. We really liked these, they feel soft and are roomy. DS2 needs movocol daily so whilst he will user potty/toilet for a pee he doesnt always make it when he needs a poo. He doesn't like pull up pants & to be honest they don't catch as much as a nappy 🙄. I felt that he had a good fit with these & they didn't pinch his skin like some supermarket size 6+s can!
  1. Yes, would definitely recommend.
  1. Yes, my local Lidl only seems to stock pull up pants at size 6 though.
Dizzywizz · 29/06/2016 14:51

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

22 months, and size 4

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was very impressed, I use Tesco nappies and found these just as good if not better

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes definitely.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes, as i found them as good if not better than the ones I currently use.

NoCakeLeft · 29/06/2016 14:55
  1. My DD is 18 months old in size 5

  2. I liked everything about them. My usual brand is Pampers and Lidl ones are better with liquid poo, that we sometimes get.

3)I will recommend them without them coming up in conversation. Will probably rant about them on Facebook in a minute.

4)I will be switching to them from Pampers from now on. As soon as we have used up all the 3 megapacks we bought in the beginning of June

Haylo246 · 29/06/2016 16:41

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

Baby is 4 months . We trialled newborn size 2

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked them. Not too bulky. The sticky bits hold tight very well, though I feel they are a bit sharp on the edges. We didn't have any leaks.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes definitely

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes great price and we had no issues with them.

Itscurtainsforyou · 29/06/2016 17:32

One thing to add to earlier comments - would be a big help if it was clear which way around they go (eg Aldi nappies have the back of a bear on the back of their nappies) - a big help when doing a quick change!

Fifinella · 29/06/2016 18:55

My baby is 14 months and I used size 4, our usual size, which fit him perfectly.

I was really impressed by Lidl Toujours Nappies. We usually use Sainsbury’s but recently tested Pampers Baby Dry and these are far more like the Pampers Baby Dry, they seem thinner than Sainsbury’s nappies, have more flexibility and generally feel like they’d be more comfortable, though possibly a bit longer folded. The straps for the waist band are a little bit low, which means a bit of superfluous nappy at the top, but that might be helpful for other more leaky babies. We didn’t have any leaks or accidents wearing these nappies, though neither of my DC is prone to leaks anyway (thankfully!).

I would definitely recommend these to a friend, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by them.

We don’t shop in Lidl normally (we don’t have a car and do a regular online shop) but there is one very close by on our local high street and I may well pop in and buy these again. They seem more flexible than our normal nappies and if they’re a comparable price I would definitely consider making them a regular purchase.

Hezaire · 29/06/2016 19:53

My child is nearly 2 years old and we used size 6.

Really liked the nappies, nice designs on the front and no leaks.

Would definitely recommend to a friend if pricing was comparable to other supermarket nappies.

Would buy again definitely as they do the job. Keep dry for several hours, no issues overnight.

Cookiemonster14 · 29/06/2016 20:33

ow old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

She's 18 months, and size 4 maxi

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the thinness of the nappy, which is still effective. My little girl liked the design! She has quite wide legs and the nappies didn't fit brilliantly on her legs, but perfectly around her bottom and hips.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes!

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes, as they are fantastic value for money!

Kittyp75 · 29/06/2016 22:12

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

11 1/2 month old boy
Size 4 nappies

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I liked the packaging, very colourful.
Easy to open.
Nappies felt soft and not bulky like other nappies.
My baby wore these nappies day and night and I had no problem with leaking and his skin felt dry in the morning too.
He is a very active boy so stood up to the test.
The packaging print transferred onto my hands when opening.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes I would buy these again, they are good value for money, my little boy stayed dry and seemed comfortable all day and night.

ursuslemonade · 30/06/2016 11:28

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
4 weeks old and size 1.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Overall satisfied with it. Hasn't leaked so far, didn't irritate baby's skin, no nasty smell. Didn't expect it to be this good but they are fine.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes, because I can't see the point in buying expensive nappies if something lot cheaper works just as fine. The savings are considerable in the long run.

VilootShesCute · 30/06/2016 13:39

Updated review...

After two nights of being fine my dd has come up in hives and we are pretty sure it's the nappies as nothing else has changed. She's a sensitive soul and occasionally reacts like this to different things. We can't use the rest now unfortunately Sad

mrsslippers · 30/06/2016 14:00

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

20 months old - size 4.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Very pleased with them. As good as any of the other cheaper brands out there. Kept her dry overnight which is the biggest test.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Yes. They did the job perfectly well and are a decent price.

Ballysbabe · 30/06/2016 15:13

These nappies are very very good for the price .A little cheap feeling but if you put into perspective how long the product is in use per nappy ,they are amazing value for money and do the job brilliantly.

somersetsinger · 30/06/2016 16:04

My baby is nine weeks old and we tested the size 2 newborn mini nappies.

The nappies are a little slimmer and lighter than the Aldi Mamia nappies that we have used before. They have different cartoon pictures in the front - I liked this, but DH thought it was silly. The band at the back was slightly wider, so good for containment! Both DH and I noticed the lack of a blue strip to tell you when the nappy is wet. We like this feature and find it useful.

The nappies are good value and do a good job, but the lack of blue strip means that I wouldn't recommend them to a friend. I would use them as a backup option as my nearest Lidl is much closer than Aldi!

saywat · 30/06/2016 17:04

My DS is 9 weeks old so we had the size 2 nappies. I can't really fault them performance wise and there is no denying they are excellent value for money. However I prefer a nappy with the wetness indicator line on the front like the Aldi nappies. I suppose I would recommend to a friend especially if they normally shop in Lidl. I wouldn't say I would never purchase them but I do prefer my normal brand.

Tootsieglitterballs · 30/06/2016 19:46

Update: we have continued to use these during the day for our DS and he appears to have come up with nappy rash - he's 17 months and has never really had nappy rash - a little bit of red around his bum, but that's it. He now has pretty bad (for him) nappy rash so I think we will stop using them now sadly, just incase they are the cause.

Buttonmoonb4tea · 30/06/2016 20:25
  1. 9 months size 4
  2. positives - thinner than usual bulkier little angels that I use, soft material, my DC looked like he could manoeuvre better Negatives - one leak so far, bottom not as dry after 12 hours overnight compared to usual brand I use (little angels)
  3. definitely would recommend to a friend
  4. I would buy again due to low price, thinner nappy and more manoeuvrability, they seem comfort for baby - but my local Lidle is 4 miles away as opposed to Asda 1 mile away so not as easy to get to the store
Buttonmoonb4tea · 30/06/2016 20:26

*comfortable
*Lidl

muddypuddled · 30/06/2016 20:49
  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use? My daughter is 8 months old. We tried the size 4 maxi nappies.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them? I love the value for money. The nappies don't seem that different from aldi or tesco own brands. The only negative is that the outside feels a bit plasticy.

  3. Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation? Definitely. I can't believe how good they are for the price.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
Yes I definitely would. I already do most of my shopping at lidl so it would make it loads easier to be able to buy nappies there too.
