This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Toujours Nappies with their DCs.

The following items were tested:

Size 4 Maxi (7-18kg) 50 pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the product:
‘Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. We ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and the Toujours range is now more flexible giving your baby the comfort and freedom to explore the world. There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality high. Toujours is dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, minimising our carbon footprint.’

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

I have a 32 month old little boy and we tested Lidl's Toujours Size 6 Nappies.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was really impressed by them, they are not too bulky with cute designs that my little boy loved. They fitted him very well and seemed to have deeper leg flaps (if you know what i mean) so we had no leaks either during the day or at night. The fastenings seemed to be lovely and strong too as compared to some of our previous nappies when they've come off in my hand. The only thing that would improve them is if they had an elasticated back panel as some of the other brands do as my little boy is a skinny minnie and it helps with the fit.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Definitely, they are very reasonably priced and i can't see any reason why not to use them.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

Again, definitely as their price works, I often shop in lidl and they were great for us.

I tried the size 2 nappies for my 8 week old DD. I was pleasantly surprised - while they are definitely a budget option with no frills, they certainly did the job reliably. I liked the slim design and easy opening pack. The varying colours on the top of the nappy was also a nice touch. I didn't like the lack of wetness indicator and also found them to be a little small around the tummy.
I would recommend them to a friend and would use them again if I was shopping in Lidl. However I wasn't impressed enough to switch from my usual brand (Aldi) or make a special trip to Lidl for them. But all in all I found them to be a decent product at a very good price.

5 weeks, size 1

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I was pleasantly surprised. I've been using Pampers and still think they're the best but the Lidl nappies definitely are as good as the Mamia Aldi ones. We didn't have any leaks, they fit well, kept her dry and the cartoons on the waistband were cute and a nice touch. I thought they were good quality.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes, I'd definitely tell them to give them a try, def worth a try.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would, was pleased with them.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They were surprising thin and held a night time wee in well. They were on the snug side and DS found them quite tight, even though he was in the weight range for the nappy. A pull up would be better for him so he could go to the toilet if needed and easily pull them up & down himself

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

I probably would. Especially because they are great value.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

No, because pull up nappies are better for my ds's needs

9 months - Size 4 Maxi

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

I really liked the overall design of the Toujours. I did find them quite thin though.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Yes I would recommend them but price and quality wise, my usual brand of nappy (Aldi) is still my preferred choice.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

If I were shopping at Lidl and needed nappies, then yes I would buy them but I wouldn't divert my shopping trip to Lidl just for nappies.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
7 months. Size 4.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They felt slim and quite plasticky. I liked the bright design. I was very impressed by how leakproof they were as this is my main issue with disposable nappies. Out of the whole pack there was only one small leak with a very full nappy. With all other brands I have tried, I usually get one leak per day! The nappies smell pretty awful when wet but I think this is true of all disposables to some extent. No nappy rash or other complaints. I don't have a lidl nearby but I am thinking of driving to one just to stock up on these!

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Yes definitely

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I think I probably will. The price is good too. I normally buy Aldi or sainsburys nappies and have also used pampers but these are the best in terms of leak proofing.

1)How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?
My baby is 8 months old and I used size 3

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
The nappies were very thin, so would feel more comfortable for my son as they weren't too bulky. They were quite soft too, much softer than aldi's, which I find quite rough on my baby's skin. I did notice a few leaks overnight, but I have the same problem with different brands. The price is very good value. Overall I was pleased with the nappies.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?
I would maybe recommend these nappies.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?
I don't go to Lidl very often, the location of my nearest isn't very convenient for me, but if I found myself near there I would maybe buy some of the Toujour nappies

23 months, we tested size 4 nappies.

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

overall I really liked the nappies, they had a good design and by some miracle fit him despite the fact that I recieved size 4 rather than our usual size 5 nappies. (i think I must have accidentally pressed the wrong tab when signing up). As a result of having the wrong size I didn't feel comfortable using them overnight but was surprised at how well they lasted during the day.

3)Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

yes I would.

4)Would you buy Lidl Toujours Nappies again in the future? If so why?

I would if I was shopping near a Lidl as they are good nappies at a good price.

  1. we tested the size 6 nappies with ds who is four and not fully potty trained due to autism

  2. over all impression. These nappies was very good. I can't find any fault with them. My son is quite tall for his age so just under the 19kg limit for these nappies. We tried them in a few different situations. We used them at night which leaked. I wasn't suprised as most nappys leak at night with his size. We normally use night time pull ups. We went to soft play and was out the house for five hours, I didn't need to change him during this time. By the time we got home we had no leaks. Normally the longest we go between changing nappies is four hours so it saved some effort not changing him while we out. He's too big for a change table so I have to change him on the floor or in the car boot. They was as good as size 6+ from Sainburys which is our normal brand. Also I like the fact that the absorbant core doesn't go right into the waste band as that can fold over and create a leak if it does.
Like - can go over four hours between change without leaks ( avoid changing on short trips out due to reasons above) dislike - nothing to dislike.
  3. I would defiantly recommend these to friends.
  4. yes I would buy the again. I don't live anywhere near a store but if I was passing I would stop to stock up. They are amazing value and they are reliable with not leaking

7 months old and I used a size 4

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

The design closely resembled pampers although they did not feel quite as soft. They came up slightly large - I have only just moved DS from a size 3 to a 4 and I think he would have been better in a three.

DS wees a lot in the night and has leaked through every brand I tried except for Pampers Baby Dry. However these Lidl nappies kept him dry all night, for a much lower price.

Overall I was very impressed by these nappies and would buy them again.

My DS is 4 months old, he weighs 16lbs. I used the size 4 nappies.
My first impression of the nappies was that they looked really big and thin. However on using them I really liked them. Im currently using pampers as the mamia and little angels nappies leaked but will definately be changing to lidl nappies
I would definately recommend them
I will use these in the future, they are cheaper than my current brand and they fit my son better, my worry about them being too big is definately a huge benefit as the nappy goes higher up at the back and stops leakage. I'm sold!

We used a size 3 on my daughter aged 7 months. Daughter aged 2 also used a couple due to a change bag mix up and they worked well for her as well, despite being a little small

2)What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Toujours Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

My daughter is 9 months old (17.8lbs) and we used the size 5 nappies.

I liked the nappies when they arrived. They seemed to be nice and soft inside (although the outside felt papery). The fit seemed great too...however the first night my daughter wore them the nappy leaked and she woke in the night drenched. I'm unsure if this was due to fit, poor design or whether we had put the nappy on incorrectly somehow but after this it didn't seem to happen again. I am more cautious about her wearing them at night now though.

I think they are a good price and once wed got past the leaking I'd be happy to now recommend them.

I think I would buy them in future. They seem overall to be a good value item. Since trying these I've also been and bought the wipes too and absolutely love those so am more likely to go to lidl and buy both in future.

2)I've found the nappies to be very absorbent, surprisingly thin (great for travels) and fit perfectly. I've used them every night and the weren't any leaks! The feel is a bit synthetic though.

3)Would highly recommend these nappies, they are great value for money, never leak and size is perfect for the older children!

4) I would buy Toujours again, they are fantastic and wish I'd knew about them before! At the age of 3 my daughter prefer pants style nappies, so if there are any Toujours pants out there, I'd defiantly give them a try!
