We have been asked by the team at Sony to find 10 UK MNers to put their latest hero smartphone, the Xperia X through its paces! We’re looking for MNers who have an interest in photography, getting out and about with nature, animals or sports and who would be willing to share their photos on the feedback thread.

Below are some details about the new handset

Key features:
• Predictive Hybrid Autofocus, Xperia X’s object tracking technology, helps your subject stay in focus, even when moving, to minimise blurry photos
• Super-fast camera which goes from standby to capture in less than 0.6 seconds
• Low-light sensors for round-the-clock sharpness
• 2.5D curved glass edges
• Refined user interface to make it more intuitive than ever
• A range of four colours – Graphite black, White, Lime Gold or Rose Gold
• Smart Battery Management that brings you up to two days battery life

Specifications:
• 23 MP camera with Predictive Hybrid Autofocus
• 13 MP front camera for low-light selfies
• 5” Full HD display with curved glass
• Up to 2 days battery life
• Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 650, 64-bit Hexa-core processor

RRP: £459.99 SIM free from the Sony Xperia store Also via:

Vodafone - £30 upfront - £32 per month - 6GB Data
Carphone Warehouse - Free handset - £31 per month - 1GB data
EE - £9.99 upfront - £35.99 per month - 1GB data
Three - £99 upfront - £13 per month (T&Cs) - 500MB data
O2 - Free handset - £36 per month - 2GB data

If you're selected, you'd be sent Xperia X to try. As long as you share feedback as required you will be able to keep the handset. You will need to pay for and take responsibility for any calls, texts or data used. Note – the Xperia X takes a Nano SIM card which is the smallest size – we can help with SIM issues/ queries.

As part of the briefing for this, all MNers will need take part in a 30-minute briefing session via Google Hangout with a Sony representative. During the hangout a Sony representative will show you how to set up your device and give you a short demo highlighting the key camera features which we’d like you to review, specifically Smart Capture technology and Predictive Hybrid Autofocus. You will need to have a google+ account to do this.

We will be asking MNers to share their feedback on the handsets at least three times. The first feedback area will focus on first impressions, the second on sharing some photos from the camera – ideally what Sony are calling an “X Moment” – “is a split second in time that means something to you that’s here and then gone. It could be a baby’s first steps, achieving a personal goal, a sporting achievement, your dog’s whimsical expression, or just a random flash of happiness and hilarity. It’s a moment that you’d love to capture perfectly that’s all too missable if you, or your phone isn’t up to the job” and finally your overall review of the handset having used it for a couple of weeks.

Ideally MN testers will also tweet their photos from the handset – but this isn’t a requirement to take part (using the #WhatsYourX hashtag).

If you’d like to take part, please add your details here and we will be in touch with those selected soon.

Thanks and good luck!

Really impressed with the extra wide selfie aswell, and how clear they are!

BrandNewAndImproved · 09/07/2016 18:21

Theres a thread opening on Monday for our reviews fibo.

I've also taken some stunning photos today. I love this camera so much.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 09/07/2016 19:52

I'm hoping we can get out and about tomorrow to take some pictures. DD as one little chicken pox spot that still has crust over before we can venture out. Fingers crossed.

I have taken lots of photos of the cat and they are very good quality. The selfie function is also very good - a bit too good though for showing every little skin imperfection (I think I need a soft focus lense Grin). Its like looking in one of these super magnifying make up mirrors.

BrandNewAndImproved · 09/07/2016 20:17

I took one of my dd waving at a moving train and it's so clear with nothing blurred.

BrandNewAndImproved · 09/07/2016 20:17

Hope the pox hurrys up and scabs over soon fish!

Fibonaccied · 09/07/2016 21:20

The colours are amazing compared to my iPhone, and I dont know half the functions. DP has been impressed as well, and he has an iPhone 6

OoohNewShoes · 09/07/2016 21:40

I noticed the same, the colours are very intense, I'm really impressed by it so far, the camera and the screen quality.

Warning, don't click my photo if you don't like flies...

The selfie made me realise I may need to look into waxing.....

Fibonaccied · 09/07/2016 21:54

The camera is definitely a brilliant selling point of the phone

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 11/07/2016 11:06

Do we have a review thread up yet?

Fibonaccied · 11/07/2016 13:04

Just came on to ask same thing

Would also be good to get emailed a how to guide re the camera for those of us who didn't get a hangout?

BrandNewAndImproved · 11/07/2016 14:57

Yy fibo I'd really like an email or a rescheduled hangout to find out more about the camera. Have you heard anything as I had an email saying they'd find out what happened and get back to us but I haven't heard anything since.

Fibonaccied · 11/07/2016 18:32

No haven't heard anything brand. I'm happy to self teach from something pre written or recorded though. Might Google YouTube

In other news rubbery pink case came today. Screen guard on route

BrandNewAndImproved · 11/07/2016 19:59

Fibo the feedback thread is now up but says to post after the hangout session.

Fibonaccied · 11/07/2016 20:42

Ah, slight problem for us then. Do we wait?

OoohNewShoes · 11/07/2016 20:50

They're probably waiting for marsybum's phone to arrive so they only have to schedule one call instead of two, best to wait I think.

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 11/07/2016 21:15

I've fed back. I need to buy a cover for it asap. I took it out and about the other day and was paranoid!

Fibonaccied · 11/07/2016 21:41

I ordered this Friday night and it arrived today

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01FH06BFA/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've ordered a tempered glass screen protector too

Fibonaccied · 11/07/2016 21:42

Oooh that makes sense but presumes we can all do the same day and time!

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 11/07/2016 22:21

Thanks Fibonaccied. Looks a good price and Prime too!

Fibonaccied · 12/07/2016 06:54

I might change it longer term, but for a bounce protector it's good. DP was trying to find me one in the shops but it's too new

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 12/07/2016 10:05

Yeah. I tried in the shops and nada. Amazon it is Grin
