We have been asked by the team at Sony to find 10 UK MNers to put their latest hero smartphone, the Xperia X through its paces! We’re looking for MNers who have an interest in photography, getting out and about with nature, animals or sports and who would be willing to share their photos on the feedback thread.

Below are some details about the new handset

Key features:
• Predictive Hybrid Autofocus, Xperia X’s object tracking technology, helps your subject stay in focus, even when moving, to minimise blurry photos
• Super-fast camera which goes from standby to capture in less than 0.6 seconds
• Low-light sensors for round-the-clock sharpness
• 2.5D curved glass edges
• Refined user interface to make it more intuitive than ever
• A range of four colours – Graphite black, White, Lime Gold or Rose Gold
• Smart Battery Management that brings you up to two days battery life

Specifications:
• 23 MP camera with Predictive Hybrid Autofocus
• 13 MP front camera for low-light selfies
• 5” Full HD display with curved glass
• Up to 2 days battery life
• Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 650, 64-bit Hexa-core processor

RRP: £459.99 SIM free from the Sony Xperia store Also via:

Vodafone - £30 upfront - £32 per month - 6GB Data
Carphone Warehouse - Free handset - £31 per month - 1GB data
EE - £9.99 upfront - £35.99 per month - 1GB data
Three - £99 upfront - £13 per month (T&Cs) - 500MB data
O2 - Free handset - £36 per month - 2GB data

If you're selected, you'd be sent Xperia X to try. As long as you share feedback as required you will be able to keep the handset. You will need to pay for and take responsibility for any calls, texts or data used. Note – the Xperia X takes a Nano SIM card which is the smallest size – we can help with SIM issues/ queries.

As part of the briefing for this, all MNers will need take part in a 30-minute briefing session via Google Hangout with a Sony representative. During the hangout a Sony representative will show you how to set up your device and give you a short demo highlighting the key camera features which we’d like you to review, specifically Smart Capture technology and Predictive Hybrid Autofocus. You will need to have a google+ account to do this.

We will be asking MNers to share their feedback on the handsets at least three times. The first feedback area will focus on first impressions, the second on sharing some photos from the camera – ideally what Sony are calling an “X Moment” – “is a split second in time that means something to you that’s here and then gone. It could be a baby’s first steps, achieving a personal goal, a sporting achievement, your dog’s whimsical expression, or just a random flash of happiness and hilarity. It’s a moment that you’d love to capture perfectly that’s all too missable if you, or your phone isn’t up to the job” and finally your overall review of the handset having used it for a couple of weeks.

Ideally MN testers will also tweet their photos from the handset – but this isn’t a requirement to take part (using the #WhatsYourX hashtag).

If you’d like to take part, please add your details here and we will be in touch with those selected soon.

Thanks and good luck!

I took it to mean this week and said I could do Friday morning. I've not heard about a time yet though.

BrandNewAndImproved · 06/07/2016 18:48

Oh I could of chosen either Thursday at 6pm or Friday 10am!

Fibonaccied · 06/07/2016 19:10

Oh wow I'm really excited they're arriving already!

I told MN via email I had name changed day before and they said fine. They just asked for my Twitter name and availability. I'm down for Thursday 6pm (and downloaded hangouts to my current phone) but I'm at work all day tomorrow so won't be here for any post :-(

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 06/07/2016 20:30

Oh was it 10am. Thanks. I've been up to my eyes today (and super excited about the phone). Smile

OoohNewShoes · 06/07/2016 22:50

Oh me too Brand and Fibonaccied, wonder if we'll be on the same hangout?

I'm on giffgaff and ordered a new sim to do a sim swap but I don't think it'll arrive in time so I'm hoping to cut my micro sim down to a nano sim using a printed template.

BankWadger · 06/07/2016 22:58

Oh no luck for me this time. Now to decide if I keep my current phone and only pay for data and a new battery or upgrade to the latest model.

OohMrDarcy · 07/07/2016 11:43

Mine arrived - I've got rose gold and LOVE it so far

I'm an android person through and through and this is a great phone, really intuitive!

BrandNewAndImproved · 07/07/2016 13:08

I'm really hoping mine comes today, I've just got home from work and there's no we tried to deliver notice but a dpd van has just drove past and DHL one so I guess it might not now. Sad

I think we'll probably be on the same chat time!

BrandNewAndImproved · 07/07/2016 13:09

Has anyone used Google hangout before? I have the app but I've never used it. Does it ring at 6 or do we have to be on the app at 6 to answer?

OohMrDarcy · 07/07/2016 13:12

I'm on fridays hangout - I use it all the time, at your time open the link from the email and it will let you join the hangout Smile

ThanksForAllTheFish · 07/07/2016 13:13

brandnew mine was delivered by APC Overnight not DPD or DHL so you probably haven't missed them.

BrandNewAndImproved · 07/07/2016 13:19

Thanks mrdarcy and thanks fish. I actually went out and asked the dpd driver if he had a delivery for me, he said no and if it was dpd I'd get a text Grin

OoohNewShoes · 07/07/2016 13:26

I'm staying in the house waiting for mine today, no sign so far. I'm in NI and things always seem to take an extra day. Hope it arrives today as I'm out all day tomorrow!

BrandNewAndImproved · 07/07/2016 15:46

Tea I've just rang apc and they tried to deliver to me yesterday so I'm off to the deppo to collect it now. It's worth having a ring just explain you don't have the tracking number and they will take your postcode.

Fibonaccied · 07/07/2016 17:42

I have no phone and no missed card or anything :-(

Going to join at 6pm, but feeling a bit blue now!

BrandNewAndImproved · 07/07/2016 17:45

Fibo I didn't have a missed card either I just googled apc and got the local depo number and rang them. They hadn't left a card but they had tried to deliver it and now I've just picked it up!

Fibonaccied · 07/07/2016 17:50

Thank you whoever suggested ringing!! Discovered a number was missing off my address!!! So I'm picking up at 9am tomorrow. Will still do google hangout tonight as I'm at work tomorrow, but phew!

Fibonaccied · 07/07/2016 17:52

They're open until seven, but I can't leave the kids! And don't think they will be ready from dinner

ThanksForAllTheFish · 07/07/2016 17:59

Is everyone going on the call tonight? I signed up for tomorrow morning because I had some computer issues and wasn't sure I would have been able to get them sorted in time.

marsybum · 07/07/2016 18:03

Is anyone on the call, I just have a screen saying "requesting to join the video call"

Fibonaccied · 07/07/2016 18:04

I have tried three times to join the call, and it keeps timing out? anyone else? I cant get the plug in to work on my PC, so am using my iPhone, but its not working - it just says "requesting to join the call, please wait....." and then times out?

Fibonaccied · 07/07/2016 18:05

marsybum, snap!!!

OoohNewShoes · 07/07/2016 18:05

Mine arrived! Yay!

I'm getting the same message, keeping on trying...

marsybum · 07/07/2016 18:07

Glad it's not just me - laptop just stays on the requesting message, phone just says unable to join? I can't do the 10am one tomorrow either Confused

Fibonaccied · 07/07/2016 18:08

maybe they meant next Thursday? Has anyone tried the 2nd link incase theyre the wrong way round?
