We have been asked by the team at Sony to find 10 UK MNers to put their latest hero smartphone, the Xperia X through its paces! We’re looking for MNers who have an interest in photography, getting out and about with nature, animals or sports and who would be willing to share their photos on the feedback thread.

Below are some details about the new handset

Key features:
• Predictive Hybrid Autofocus, Xperia X’s object tracking technology, helps your subject stay in focus, even when moving, to minimise blurry photos
• Super-fast camera which goes from standby to capture in less than 0.6 seconds
• Low-light sensors for round-the-clock sharpness
• 2.5D curved glass edges
• Refined user interface to make it more intuitive than ever
• A range of four colours – Graphite black, White, Lime Gold or Rose Gold
• Smart Battery Management that brings you up to two days battery life

Specifications:
• 23 MP camera with Predictive Hybrid Autofocus
• 13 MP front camera for low-light selfies
• 5” Full HD display with curved glass
• Up to 2 days battery life
• Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 650, 64-bit Hexa-core processor

RRP: £459.99 SIM free from the Sony Xperia store Also via:

Vodafone - £30 upfront - £32 per month - 6GB Data
Carphone Warehouse - Free handset - £31 per month - 1GB data
EE - £9.99 upfront - £35.99 per month - 1GB data
Three - £99 upfront - £13 per month (T&Cs) - 500MB data
O2 - Free handset - £36 per month - 2GB data

If you're selected, you'd be sent Xperia X to try. As long as you share feedback as required you will be able to keep the handset. You will need to pay for and take responsibility for any calls, texts or data used. Note – the Xperia X takes a Nano SIM card which is the smallest size – we can help with SIM issues/ queries.

As part of the briefing for this, all MNers will need take part in a 30-minute briefing session via Google Hangout with a Sony representative. During the hangout a Sony representative will show you how to set up your device and give you a short demo highlighting the key camera features which we’d like you to review, specifically Smart Capture technology and Predictive Hybrid Autofocus. You will need to have a google+ account to do this.

We will be asking MNers to share their feedback on the handsets at least three times. The first feedback area will focus on first impressions, the second on sharing some photos from the camera – ideally what Sony are calling an “X Moment” – “is a split second in time that means something to you that’s here and then gone. It could be a baby’s first steps, achieving a personal goal, a sporting achievement, your dog’s whimsical expression, or just a random flash of happiness and hilarity. It’s a moment that you’d love to capture perfectly that’s all too missable if you, or your phone isn’t up to the job” and finally your overall review of the handset having used it for a couple of weeks.

Ideally MN testers will also tweet their photos from the handset – but this isn’t a requirement to take part (using the #WhatsYourX hashtag).

If you’d like to take part, please add your details here and we will be in touch with those selected soon.

Thanks and good luck!

I forgot to put on the form that I mainly use my phone for photography. We have loads of unusual widlife around us that capturing would make great pictures

LadyFuchsiaGroan · 01/07/2016 13:23

Filled the form in - would be amazing to be picked, good luck everyone Grin

OohMrDarcy · 01/07/2016 13:31

Applied - how exciting!

I'd love to be able to test this phone to the max!

Rishi79 · 01/07/2016 18:55

Failed once and hope it won't be a failure anymore!, Would a Sony Xperia X save my day of taking amazing pictures to exceed my expectations? And another thing I really want to check out if how smashproof the screen is (although I wouldn't drop it just for testing it and I don't think I am that brave enough! :)) Hubby's iPhone 6S smashed it's screen three times and the last time when it happened, it was replaced by a refurbished phone by the insurance (I think the wisest decision we made was to insure it). So, What's the promise from Sony to keep it's customers happy?

Rishi79 · 01/07/2016 19:01

I have applied here btw to see if I can get my hands on it and put this new gadget under test, refreshing all that I learnt from my mobile testing at the telecommunication field...and ofcourse as a mum who fills up her 16GB memory in her phone within a weeks time!

madamy · 02/07/2016 10:07

Done! Getting the teenager, dog and 9yr old boy on film together is a nightmare, this might just make it possible Smile

GinAndSonic · 02/07/2016 14:37

This would be fab for capturing my kids faces when they find wildlife whilst out on walks!

ephillips340 · 02/07/2016 20:52

Signed up fingers crossed Grin

ItsSoooFluffy · 03/07/2016 08:12

Filled in the form... What a fantastic opportunity!

scarrick87 · 03/07/2016 08:21

Love the sound of the camera. I take sooooooo many pictures and having recently been on holiday I have no phone storage with all of the pictures. Also I have a growing child and can never have too many pictures hehe. This would be awesome :)

OoohNewShoes · 03/07/2016 10:13

Placemarking to see when the emails go out so I don't keep hoping if I don't get picked Grin

Atlas15 · 03/07/2016 12:24

Loving some of the sly begging in these responses.

TheImprobableGirl · 03/07/2016 17:29

I would beg if I thought it would help any, but I fear it is a range of demographics they're after rather than a sob story. Although I'm trying for another baby if you wanted an edge? Wink

mumsbe · 04/07/2016 10:41

My daughter loves birdwatching and going out in the country side. So it would be very exciting to take some photos on this subject.

Rishi79 · 04/07/2016 16:28

After finding out that this is now closed, I couldn't control my curiosity and refreshing my inbox countless times to see if I got lucky enough to try this and couldn't stop myself from posting on this thread asking if anyone doing the same or Is it just me!? Everyone seems to have gone quiet though! :)

DoesAnyoneReadTheseThings · 04/07/2016 17:39

I am absolutely shocked and humbled to be picked! I must have had a sixth sense as I name changed yesterday, so can use my Twitter account to do the feedback without risking outing myself Grin

Thank you so much mumsnet - I will no longer be sneered at by DSS for my old rubbish phone!! So excited to try this out!

OohMrDarcy · 05/07/2016 16:12
